Singer Falz Talks About The Misconceptions People Have About Him

Popular Nigerian rapper, Folarin Falana, a.k.a FalzTheBahdGuy, in a chat with Showtime lamented the biggest misconceptions people have about him.

“I have been misinterpreted especially in recent times. To a large extent, I understand the sentiments or the feelings of the people that have misinterpreted me.

The biggest misconception about my person is that I’m a misogynist, that I hate women. I think it’s funny, I think it’s laughable because I have continually spoken against the prostitution culture. It’s just something I don’t subscribe to, but it doesn’t mean I hate women or anything.

Men that do these things too are equally doing something that I don’t like, but maybe it’s because I have only done more stuff about the girls, and I understand that because women are the gender that is oppressed.

There is male supremacy that is perpetrated in every sphere of life and I understand that for this reason, it could be vexing for the listeners. I’ve made a lot of music that speaks about women oppression and sexual abuse; ‘Child of the world’ for example.

That is a very conscious song, it talked about s#xual abuse, suicide and the need for help. On my ‘Moral Instruction’ album, I made a lot of stuff pertaining to human trafficking. I pay a lot of attention to things that affects people; so there is no way someone will sit in their house and say I’m a misogynist”, he lamented.

  3. In your song "child of the world" where you used Bam bam as a vixen, she was raped by her uncle and instead of showing people how she got him arrested or something, you showed where she became a runs girl and got HIV in the process. Nothing ever happened to the uncle. And you call yourself a lover of women. No where in that video did you advocate for rape victims rather you painted them as loose girls. Do you think rape is a joke? Some girls were raped and till this day they can't allow a man even hug them. I'm even more disappointed in Kemi Adetiba a.k.a King woman for directing that trash. Falz I put it to you that you're a sexist and a misogynist.

    2. Look at it from another angle, he was showing what women go through, why some become what they become, so people dont judge them. Showing plight of women.
And in reality that is what happens, how many people speak up in such cases, 99% of such cases die with the girl and she never get justice, which rich uncle will be arrested in Nigeria.

  4. I pity who will marry this guy, she has to be 101% perfect for the "good" guy image he's trying to project. Falz seem to forget that nobody is perfect. I know dudes like him, they want sex morning till night but ask them for 1 kobo they'll quickly call you prostitute, LMAO. Falz is the biggest hypocrite I know.

    1. Truly, at times I don’t understand when people say ‘someone tries to hard’! Are you saying he is a fake person? Meaning that you know him personally and know he is projecting an image that is radically different from his person?
This is someone trying to bring a moral angle to his music, his brand, his interaction with fans and we say he tries too hard; we would rather accept and have no problems with those who flaunt their debased morals in our faces and say - yeah this person is real!
It’s obvious that our standards have gone so low that erstwhile normal behavior is now seen as abnormal, too bad.

    2. Mystic why bother explaining, dey think everyone must be like them and the ones that are principled are faking it
