ReplyDeleteGood morning blog FAM... I have been hearing stories of peoples experience with Jazz but I never know that I ll experience it . Yesterday evening, on my way home, I branched to the market to buy meat fish and vegetable to prepare something for dinner. For religious reasons, I don't buy meat from random persons. So I have a customer that I buy meat from.I headed to the the meat section and my customer was already hailing me and that was the last thing I remembered until I got home. I left the market with 200 change and a confused mind. It was when I checked the meat and the hot steam vapour touched me that a cold breeze hit me that I started recalling what happened earlier at the market. Just when I was about reaching my customer stall, a man tapped me and told me in Yoruba " Alhaja Ema bo wara Eran" meaning that I should follow him to buy meat. I followed him like a dummy to his stand and gave him 1000 naira note. I don't remember telling him the amount I wanted to buy. He gave me two hundred notes and I left his place to where I wanted to buy smoked fish. The woman told me 350 and I priced the fish to 250, she agreed and was about to remove the stick attached to the fish when she noticed that I was still fidgeting with my purse. She asked me what the matter was, and I told her not to worry that I ll come back to buy the fish. I don't know how I manage to escape her bad mouth but the look she gave me was enough. I left the market in a confused state, bought mango 50 at the junction and walked home. While I was trekking, I was trying to remember what and what I bought from the market but to no avail. It was when I boil the meat that my eyes open. The man sold 6 tiny pieces of meat of tasteless meat for me for 800 naira. On a normal day, that meat is not more than 200 naira and I ll never buy such meat cos I chose the part I want. I don't buy plain meat, I like my meat with a little fat and Esan( I don't know the meaning in English). Anyway, I have learnt my lessons and I thought to share so that others can learn. The length people go to these days to make money is scary. And I pray that none of us ll fall victim. As for the meat, I turn it to pepper soup and ate all for dinner last night. DeleteEven to sit, I don't. I pray hard and fortify myself with the blood of Jesus Christ when going to the market. Any Change given i spend inside the market or keep it separately from my money. There's jazz. Your money will disappear too. I have learnt in this lagos market. One day years back, during the Christmas period, i went to the market with my friends. The next thing i became dizzy and perceived this strong smell of formalin, i started telling my friend what are they preserving on this line that sells only shoes, i'm perceiving formalin, she told me spirits come to the market too, i told her its, crap. The shop attendant we were standing infront of their shop smiled and told us to sit inside that dead people come to the market too, that's why you rarely have mirrors or any reflective object outside. I kept complaining in a loud voice formalin dey smell, formalin dey smell, Dude chased us and said we shouldn't buy again.
