However, earlier on Friday, a Federal High Court in Abuja granted an order ex-parte for the maintenance of status quo pending the determination of a motion filed by DAAR Communications, in its suit challenging the action of the NBC.
Delivering his ruling Justice Inyang Ekwo, rejected two prayers by DAAR Communication, owners of the two stations, for restraining orders against the respondents – NBC, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture (FMIC) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).
DAAR Communications had, in the reliefs sought to restrain the respondents from interfering with its operations pending the determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunctions.
Instead, Justice Ekwo granted the alternative relief, “an order for the maintenance of status quo ante bellum as at 30th of May, 2019, pending the hearing and final determination of the motion on notice filed along with this application.”
Justice Ekwo said the applicant, DAAR would be penalised should it turn out, at the end of the day, that the order ought not to have been made.
The judge noted that, by the issues raised in its application by DAAR Communications, the respondents deserved to be heard.
Justice Ekwo adjourned further proceedings till June 13, 2019.

I have said here overtime, that this government lacks cognitive thinking. They always set the cart before the horse, the reason their performance is terrible. They act before thinking, and when they go back to the drawing board, they discovered their blunders.
ReplyDeleteIf AIT can be shut down by suspending its licence as a result of statements credited to guest at the studio, then NTA should as well be shut down for the bodybag comments credited to El Rufai. Or wasn't that inciting a statement to make? To me I see the desperation of a failed administration to silence voice of the opposition, they want AIT to be like NTA. This is media terrorism if you asked me.
Less than 24hours AIT was shutdown, UK largest broadcasting network delisted NTA from its service. What does that tells you? No one has the monopoly of madness in them.
The man who hurriedly announced and carried out this dispicable act, is no other person than Alhaji Modibo Kawu, DG Nigeria Broadcasting Commission(NBC). This is the same man that the ICPC has filed charges against, involving Pinnacle Communications, for allegedly conspiring to steal N2.5b under the guise of leveling the playing field for DSO broadcast signal distributor.
The first thing one should asked, is how Mr. Modibo Kawu is still at his job as NBC DG, even after he has been investigated, indicted and charged for fraud by the ICPC? Even though they are yet to be arraigned in court. Isn't Nigeria a joke?
