Saturday In House Gists -Marrying Someone With The Same Name

Two people meet and introduce themselves and alas, they find out they share the same last name and are not related at all..Or that the last name of one is the first name of the other....................

The Relationship progresses and they decide to Marry and on the invitation card stands same last names of the two people about to marry.......

I have seen about four invitation cards of people with same last names who got married this year ......

Have you ever met someone whose first name is your last name?I know a guy who told me he could not marry a lady he wanted to because first nae was her last name and he didnt feel comfortable about it..An example of this is you are Stella Atutupuyoyo and you meet someone who is Atutupuyoyo John

For the Ladies who marry these men, they dont need to change names, only to add Mrs......example Ofure Atutupuyoyo becomes Mrs Ofure Atutupuyoyo...

Is there anyone here who married a same last name lover? For the ladies,Were you happy that you wouldnt have to change names? For the men,how did you feel?

How come people end up with same last names and they are not related?Would you marry someone with same name

  1. Northerners would see this and laugh. Imagine your last name as a lady is Musa and you want to marry a northerner or Surname Lawal then his first name is Lawal. That guy that didn’t marry someone cos they had same name was just looking for a reason not to marry the person. In this age where you can make findings about a person to make sure you are not related.

Anyway, it would be hard for that to happen to me. My last surname is not common and never met anyone bearing it as their first name. My first name is feminine so it’s highly unlikely that would happen.

    2. My female cousin married a guy who bears the same first name and last name.

They were both in the same class in college, the lecturer called out my cousin's name and both of them started talking into their microphones and there was confusion in the class. They've been inseparable since then.

I almost married someone who had same last name but he died. For me, it's not a big deal at all.

He smiled and told me yes a lot of people doubt his name because they believed it's a female name. Then he showed me his complimentary card. I told him the reason am doubting is because my own name is Favour. And he was like waoo perfect match...

I didn't do anything with him sha because he has tattoos and wore a big canvas with a sagged jeans I don't want someone that will come and be beating me.

  9. Have 2 acquaintances who got married to their better halves with the same surnames. Their surnames are not common which made it the more beautiful.

Would love to experience such, my surname is unique and has a great meaning. 😂 Even if I didn't get it,will definitely hyphenate my names.

  10. This happened to someone I know. His wife didn't have to change her last name after marriage. He died a few years after they got married. His wife had previously lost a fiance. There was gist that she was spiritually attached and so couldn't be married on earth. The fact that she didn't have to change her name when she married the second guy gave more credence to the gist about spiritual attachment.

I don't see anything wrong in having same surname as your spouse so far you investigate u ain't related. You won't need to do change of name.

  13. I met someone who had same surname with me way back then. I used to imagine marrying him and retaining my beloved surname. I will be saying to myself "that means I will have same name as my mama and I won't need to change my signature". I wasnt even thunking of love, his character or anythimg else. Chai, small pikin thunking. It's very funny to me now. Me that was not even ready for marriage then.

My mom and Dad were same surname.

I almost married someone with same surname too, until I asked my self: what was the motivation for marrying this person, is it because I wanted to enjoy not doing change of name, instead of lifetime happiness.

  27. Highly unlikely I would marry someone with the same surname as myself. There are just two families in the whole world with my surname, I cannot marry anyone from my village not to talk of my extended family. The other family, I’ve never met anyone from there. It would have been nice not to change surname.

  28. I dated someone i shared same surname with. His mother and grandmother both had the same surname and didn't change names! So he was desperate to marry me to carry on the "tradition" abi coincidence. Anyways i wasn't keen to be part of thier family!

  29. And I thought it is rare to find people/couples who share same last names, see testimonies!
I have always wish to marry someone with my surname but that is if God wills. Marrying right is the juice than marrying for not changing surname.

I didn't even want to marry him then because I won't be changing my last name , he's a good guy and I can't leave because of name . Our fathers bear same name and surname name . It's not easy commenting with this puffin nonsense.
