They already met with operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), The Nation reports.
The commission has so far traced N47.2 billion and $487.5 million to the ex-minister arrested since October 2, 2015, but been restricted to the UK with her probe costing fortunes.
The agency also claimed that Diezani has N23,446,300,000 and $5 million (about N1.5 billion) in various Nigerian banks.
The EFCC has also secured final forfeiture orders on the following assets of Diezani: about $37.5 million Banana Island property; Heritage Court Estate, Plot 2C, Omerelu Street, Diobu Port Harcourt; 135 Awolowo Road/ Plot 808 Awolowo Road, Ikoyi; and 7, Hurnburn Street and 5, Raymond Street, Yaba, Lagos.
A source was reported as saying: “The detectives from the UK have been in Nigeria for a week in line with the ongoing investigation of Diezani.
“It is a major case the National Crime Agency (NCA) in the UK has been collaborating with the EFCC to probe.
“A few weeks ago, EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, was also in London to compare notes with similar agencies on this case.
“You will recall that Magu in November 2018 made it clear that Nigeria was tired of waiting for the trial of Diezani by the UK.
“But after the initial issues between EFCC and UK agencies, there were talks which revealed that those at the London end were making painstaking investigations.
“After Magu’s visit to London, the investigation of Diezani assumed enhanced dimension because some grey areas were cleared.
“The coming of the detectives from London was meant to fill some gaps, get additional evidence and crosscheck a few findings on their part.
“We are hopeful that the latest bend of investigation was in preparation for the trial of the ex-minister.”
The source added that the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill, 2019, signed into law about a week ago by President Muhammadu Buhari might help in confiscating Diezani’s assets at home and abroad.

ReplyDeleteShe is such a damn disgrace. How many houses can she occupy at the same time? Look at the plight of women and children and she did not once think to use her position to uplift and provide opportunities to others, just hoarding hoarding and stuffing her old tired pussay with the people's money. Now she crying cancer, your professional life was a bloody cancer to the nation. Mtschhw.
ReplyDeleteI laugh at Nigerians in Jaisa. The money that others stole is being ignored amd they have bedn painting this lady as the worst and you ate all falling for it. Ask your president to show you his before and afyer asset decleration for the previous tenure. Do your own private check on his kids/wife in the uk and America and ask them to explain how they aquired the assets you find. Everyone has forgotten about the money Babangida stole and is focusing on her. Everybody has conviniently forgotten about the money missing under previou oil ministers (I am not talking about rumours of kickbacks they got), actual money just dissapearing. Just because we had an oil minister not beholden to the north, who broke their oil entitlement mentality and allowed people from other regions of the countey flourish in the oil and gas industry, because she stepped on their toes with the removal of the fuel subsidy (which correct me if I am wrong- Buhari insisted it did not exist, but he is currently providing for in the budget), because it was not business as usual for them up north, they villified her and like sheep heading to the slaughterhouse you are all bleating what you have been told. We need to insist on a probe of ALL past oil monisters. We need for a thorough probe of the finances of ALL past presidents/Vice presidents and their family members (including inlaws). When a president can submit to that perhaps we can trust his actions in probing others but for now - I just laugh in french at how the my have played us down south. How much did Yara duah’s wife have to retirn to Nigerians? How was she made to account to us for how her brain dead husband was signing budgets and orders/contracts. But hey what do I know. We are just a big bunch of stupid idiots down south who have been mentally enslaved since independence. Has anyone ever queried how legitimate the process was that made Idimini an oil billionaire? No but if he was a southernan, you can be sure it would jave been of national interest.
