Mayor Boris Johnson Emerges United Kingdom’s New Prime Minister

Boris Johnson succeeded Theresa May as Britain's new prime minister on Tuesday and the incoming leader faces a bumpy ride amid pressure to get the nation's stalled exit from the European Union – known as Brexit – over the line.

American-born Johnson, 55, who enjoys a good relationship with President Donald Trump, becomes Britain's 14th prime minister to serve under the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

He will be the third leader from the United Kingdom's Conservative Party, including David Cameron – who called 2016's controversial referendum on EU membership – charged with making sure that Brexit takes place.

In a brief address, Johnson said he would "deliver Brexit" and "unite the country."

Johnson won about two-thirds of eligible votes in a weeks-long contest decided by an internal party vote by approximately 160,000 Conservative Party members after May stepped down over her handling of Brexit. Britain elects a party, not a leader, meaning the ruling party can change its leader and still remain the government of the day.

+Lets see how he will deliver Brexit...Wish him luck!!!

    1. Brexit has become the albatross of any conservative British prime minister.
Let's pray Boris is luckier than the others.

    2. Ms. A!
How do you mean things are never going to be the same in Europa again, because one country leaves the EU? A union of 27 very strong countries some with the world's biggest economies?
Now I see why you are constantly bashed by other commenters.
      Receive sense and educate yourself!

    3. At anonymous 12:44, sadly Europe isn't equal. The EU was a project unearthed by Margaret Thatcher to be Germans tool to take control of Europe. Minust Germany, France, Holland and the Scandinavian countries, Europe is a mess. Is it Italy that most of it can't compare to parts of Lagos, or Portugal where you'll be shocked at its system minus the topography of some of these nations which have beautiful landscapes which came with nature, they are very horrible, and I know as I've travelled. I met a few Nigerians in Italy and they wanted to head to the UK. The UK is the second largest economy in the EU and provides employment for majority of the youths from Portugal, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria etc etc. The EU will be affected.

  13. Go back to your country and helped develop it and stop calling everyone that does not agree with external infiltration into their countries racist. If they had run away from developing theirs, would you have been in there now or even scared of leaving?

Nobody owes you anything. If it's so easy and simple, build Naija na. One even said some people might lose their citizenship cos they got it anyhow. So fucking entitled. They want to spoil oyiboland with their fufu mentality.
