Speaking in Lagos on Tuesday at the launch of United Nations’ Solutions 17 SDG programme, Soyinka berated the federal government for the idea, which he said can cause Nigeria to explode.
According to him: “Ruga is going to be an explosion if not handled with care. But why do we not take our policies from good models? This is not the way people and countries deal with issues of cattle.
“I travel everywhere. It has to be handled in a way that is logical, comprehensible to the environment. When a cattle walks up to the window of my house in Abeokuta, a house which is located in a residential area, then there’s a problem.
“When cattle goes to Ijebu Ode and eat up their plant seedlings and so on and you expect people to be quiet?”
He stated the handling of the herdsmen issue by President Muhammadu Buhari was enough to make him lose re-election.
“President Buhari deserved to have lost the last election for the lackadaisical attitude he took to the issue of cattle rearing in the country.
“People have been killed in hundreds just because of the failure of leadership at a critical time. And the cattle herders have been given a sense of impunity.
They kill without any compunction, they drive away the farmers who have been contributing to the food solutions in the country, the cattle eat their crops and then you come up with Ruga.
“I think that there is going to be trouble in this country if this Ruga thing is not handled imaginatively and with humanity as a priority.
Any country where cattle takes priority over human life is definitely at an elementary stage,” he said.

You may not like him(Kanu) but the truth remains, he is more of a prophet than those you called pastors. This is a prophesy foretold and it is happening before our very eyes. Everything he said has come to past. Yesterday, at New York, the publisher of Sahara Reporter, Sowore, met with Nnamdi Kanu and affirmed what Kanu has always warned Nigerians about, and today, Soyinka has woken up, so also is Obasanjo and Danjuma. These were people who imposed the incompetent old nepotic and jihadist man to millions of Nigerians as president.
No voice of reasoning will support this RUGA of a nonsense. The Fulani's are known from history to always conquer and dominate their host communities through bloodshed. Giving them a portion of land automatically means an open invitation for them to come and kill you. This is a time for Nigerians to rise up and protest else there will be another bloodshed of war more deadly than the civil war.
Nnamdi Kanu is not a prophet but a sellout. That's the only reason he knows certain things before they are revealed. It's like a demonic pastor in a shrine or a place that looks like a church, being able to foretell the future and people say, "Ah he must be genuine cos he said this and it happened, and he even uses the name of God so he must be a genuine man of God". He knew what their plans were yet he convinced a lot of Igbos to disenfranchise themselves by telling them he is negotiating for Biafra so they should not vote? Knowing fully well that many in the East wouldn't have voted for Buhari? Who does that if their heart and hands are clean?

See Cross River State. Bakassi people live like refugees, Florence Ita-Giwa (that was given title of Mama Bakassi that she doesn't deserve) is partying all over the place, and Ayade can give land for RUGA. Knowing fully well the state has natural preserves and forests. So that cows can eat the ones he doesn't destroy with his insane plans for an unnecessary highway and deep seaport.
I said this thing before; that plans over Nigeria had been concluded in secret by wicked and unreasonable men and women, it was like I didn't know what I was saying. This is the onset of the Islamisation agenda some warned about before Buhari came into power in 2015. Forget civil war, they're gearing up for ethnic cleansing and genocide. Why do you think they've passed that law to take away guns from civilians? I'm still singing it like a song; people need to pray. I don't know how people are supposed to protect themselves without arms from these so-called herdsmen that somehow have money and access to complicated weapons and ammunition. Buhari is not Biodun Fatoyinbo whose elders and mentors threw him out after that protest cos they're afraid of being exposed themselves. This is a different brand of wickedness.
Your rejoinder is in order most especially your last paragraph but let me correct a misconception in your first paragraph. Nnamdi Kanu isn't a sell out like you said. He called for the boycott knowing fully well that Buhari will rigged his way into office. So it was pointless and an exercise in futility to vote for an already compromised election.

Nnamdi Kanu, knowing that he will get better part of the blame for that action, reversed the boycott three days to the election. When the Presidency saw that, they postponed the elections to re-strategized. Yes he is a prophet indisputable. A prophet doesn't mean you must be a pastor or a Christian. He said about the removal of the CJN and it came to past. So many things he talked about even before 2015 has all come to past. So what will you call such a man? The ones you called pastors and prophets, how many of their prophesies has come to past?
If I'm in a room when a decision was made and I come out to say this is what so-and-so are planning to do, how am I a prophet? I used the religious analogy to drive home a point. Nnamdi is saying what he's allowed & actually been told to say. He's cut a deal that will break your heart the day you find out the specifics. How and why do you think he was able to leave Nigeria when he supposedly a) jumped bail, b) didn't have a passport? There are ONLY three people in this world that can travel without needing a passport or other travel document & Nnamdi Kanu isn't one of them.

Surprisingly, there are some primitive cultures where cattle take priority over human life. We don't want that in Nigeria. Constant attack of herdsmen in South West and the country as a whole has not been dealt with. What will now happen if Fulani herdsmen are given lands over here? This is a time every churches across the breadth of Nigeria should explain the need of self defence to her congregants. The war has already begun and it will be suicidal kneeling down praying for a miracle to happen that will kill your enemies. The prayers we need now is self defence and vigilance.
