According to him, “Beyond road construction; we have started expanding the bus rapid transit system and gradually reducing the danfo buses on the roads. I am excited to announce that we have purchased over 800 buses to add to the existing BRT fleet expanding to more routes”
Sanwo-Olu also disclosed the efforts of the Lagos State Government towards diversifying the transport sector. This is evidenced in the Public-Private Partnership with Uber Boats to ensure the safety of water transportation for commuters.
“Working with the Uber Boats team, water transportation will be affordable and safe expanding to more routes. We want water transportation to ramp up to more parts of the state.
We are supportive of private investment in transportation that is non exploitative. This week, I launched @Uber Boats the first of many private-sector efforts at providing safe andefficient water transport working with our water transportation initiatives. #SolvingLagosTraffic

*More Buses when the Roads are bad?And if they are Eliminating Danfo Buses, what Jobs do they want the Danfo drivers and conductors to take on?Is Lagos turning into a government controlled state?
In the already congested Lagos, more 800 buses. More traffic for them.
ReplyDeleteNo! These buses will definitely reduce number of cars plying lagos business districts. The light rail from Badagry to CMS/VI corridor when completed ought to ease traffic as well.
DeleteThis man was just an over hyped figure head. Ikeja along during the week is terrible as one will spend three hrs for 10minute ride. Muthhheeeww
ReplyDeleteVery confused governor. Bring back ambode pls
ReplyDeleteElimination of danfo buses? Sanwoolu v Mc Olu omo. "I go repo all of them".
ReplyDeleteAre they going to find job opportunities for the danfo drivers?
ReplyDeletethis man is a clown. which road will the brt pass? foolish idiot
ReplyDeleteWhat do we need 800 buses in Lagos for? Which roads will they ply, the already congested ones? Besides, how do they think these brt will substitute danfo, can they drive along our streets like these danfo buses do? Please he should channel this energy to other infrastructures especially electricity abeg. There are enough buses in Lagos already. That's how they all do when they enter office... Bus bus bus
ReplyDeleteThem this Mr pointer to start by making good roads.
ReplyDeleteWhat will now happen to mc oluomo and co.?
ReplyDeleteWhat about the 820 buses ambode bought? Have they exhausted that?
ReplyDeleteSeems buying buses is a cash cow for successive government.
Good question. He or ambode shd let us know what happened to the buses
DeleteEnter your reply...If you have been following the news of the BRT you would have known they promised to bring in more than 1,000 of the buses on Lagos road. The plan to phase out the yellow danfos will actually require them to buy up more than 5,000 of the BRT buses
DeleteOn which road point and kill governor?
ReplyDeleteNo kudos here, rather the advent of super traffic locks.
ReplyDeleteHe said the water table of Lagos is high, hence they cannot propose Subway transit system.
What about Flyover then ?
800 buses for 1600 hmmmmmm!
Toba understand me say hi !
Stella, take it from someone who lives in lagos! It is a good initiative. These danfos have been constituting nuisance. Brt lanes are made for brt buses so the issue of bad roads is not a problem. I'm sure fixing the roads is part of the plan. Lagos is too jam packed. Everyone is on the road. Traffic everywhere. It's high time we look for road transportation aimed at carrying more people and railway as well as sea transport. We are moving ahead pls so don't think backwards....
ReplyDeleteLiars everywhere. When the roads are worst. Shame on this government
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion also, they should train these danfo drivers and give them jobs as brt bus drivers since they are planning to scrap danfo
ReplyDeleteNew BRT buses in Lagos is not a bad idea. But to foster a better and urban Lagos, I will suggest that 1st the old BRT busses given to private owners which has become like the old "Molue" should be removed from the roads. This busses are always crowded and not neat. Secondly, In order not to increase unemployment or armed bandits in the state, danfo busses should not be removed but be restricted to certain areas and should be supervised by necessary private company.I also have a big major solution to ease Lagos traffic problem. These can't be shared on this platform but with government representatives.

DeleteIt's that what Lagos state needs now? With the crazy traffic all over town? Ngwanu!
ReplyDeleteOga governor don't be unfortunate. Kindly fix the roads first before eliminating danfo buses. As a matter of urgency do something about Badagry mile two expressway: that route has become a nightmare especially when it rains.
ReplyDeleteEveryday countless people who are going after their daily bread lose their limbs others their lives because of the terrible state of that route.
I had bike accident twice in one week last month. If not for God who took control and saved me only God knows what would have happened.
Bad roads and traffic everywhere yet he wants to pump in more buses. This man doesn't seem like he knows what he's doing.
ReplyDeleteHope he will recruit the danfo drivers and conductors to avoid a rise in crime rates.
Ironically more high volume, high quality buses will encourage people to leave their cars at home and thus reduce traffic overall. One bus can eliminate anywhere between 5 and 20 cars per trip, but the other challenge is the battle with dilapidated roads which are a product of neglect. Lagos will require a CONTINUOUS ONGOING roads maintenance program. This might be a good idea IF. . .
ReplyDeleteThank you Stella for asking the questions on my mind.
ReplyDeleteEnter your comment... believe me then government tells you they bought 800 buses. what they bought won't be more than 150 buses they can lie.
