Nigeria has been adjudged to be the third most dangerous place to live in the world according to a report by InterNations.
In a post on Twitter on Wednesday, the group ranked Brazil top of the list of the most dangerous places while South Africa followed closely in second spot.
“Brazil, South Africa and Nigeria – the bottom three countries in the safety and security subcategory – are also the three worst-rated destinations for personal safety in particular,” said Malte Zeeck, founder and co-CEO of InterNations.
Argentina ranked below Nigeria at number four, followed by India at number five.
1- Brazil
2- South Africa
3-Nigeria
4- Argentina
5- India
One would think India would come before Nigeria.
Do you agree with InterNations ranking?
Sometime these international reports are not to be taken seriously..Really?? What happened to Yemen, Libya, Palestine...Yes Nigeria got 99 problems but being the most dangerous place aint one...
ReplyDeleteThank you what else. They left countries like Colombia,El Salvador,Mexico. Those countries that gang, crimes, violence, murder e.t.c reign supreme.Nigeria and south Africa are dangerous but most dangerous over these ones?? Nah..I don't agree biko.
DeleteI don’t agree with this their ranking abeg
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% when they are behaving like corrupt animals they didn’t know
DeleteAgreed
DeleteAgreeded 😂
Anon 08:42.....there is corruption in the western world too.... Media is just a tool they use to surpress developing countries they see as threat due to mineral/natural resources, thereby limiting foreign investments by portraying those countries bad.
DeleteThey have come again oo..
DeleteAnon 9.09 you’re very right, it was the westerners that stopped Nigeria from developing. All the bad and negative things happening in Nigeria is caused by the western media, if it makes you feel better to believe that, then carry on
DeleteCentral African Republic has not known peace since independence?? I laugh...anyway they see Africa as a country?? So
ReplyDeleteAll these stupid nonsense reports, what is interNations? Who knows it? Off the top of my head I can name 10 countries more dangerous to live in.
ReplyDeleteI thought Nigeria will rank first
ReplyDeleteI agree abeg. Nigeria that someone will leave the house and container will fall on the person or tanker will spill its content and boom fire don consume people or is it the SARS’ extrajudicial killings ni or the stray bullets. Nigeria is dangerously Dangerous abeg, no stories.
ReplyDeletebad girl
DeleteTolu, I support you. Too many dangers in the land.
DeleteSo, no one is going to talk about Texas where you can be playing games with your nephew or eating ice cream and a uniformed criminal will enter to kill. What's worse, these criminals usually go free or at worse will get a hug from the judge with effective 5years sentence. Or Alabama where a sheriff can pocket money meant to feed in mates and wait for it....the state finds his action to be legal.
DeleteIn essence, we all have problems and we're trying to move towards perfection. Do not allow any person or group of persons denigrate you or your group because their problem differs from yours.
Why won't they say so. When journalists always like to report our negative side with gory graphic pix littering everywhere.
ReplyDeleteWhy won't they rank us so. When journalists always like to report our negative side with gory graphic pix littering everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI tell you. Useless journalism
DeleteShould journalist be economical with the truth? Truth is that, we can't run away from reality neither will truth be buried. Your reasoning should be, why is it so difficult fighting insurgency and banditry? There lies the answer you will be needing as to why Nigeria isn't safe to inhabit.
Delete@Teejay, rightly said.
DeleteIf journalists cover up the truth, how would the people begin make informed decisions?
Kidnapping and banditry have reached epidemic proportions. Sad.
@Teejay, great improvement in your written English. I hope it's your self-effort and not by a ghost-writer or your gf?
We learn everyday. 👍
The ranking is accurate especially that of Brazil being the lead. I watched a video on how some Brazilians killed a guy(snitch). They were drug guys and the guy snitched on them. Over fifteen bullets were fired on him. The rate of killings and rape over there is deadly.
ReplyDeleteComing back home, Nigeria is worst and terrible. Whoever doubt this ranking should visit the north and see what has become of that place. A people becoming refuges in their own country. Not to talk of the militancy, banditry and kidnapping in the southern region which has also gotten to the northern part as well. Nigeria is however too dangerous to live in currently.
Lolzz Brazil dey learn...Wat ll u say about Columbia
DeleteThis is not true, there are so many places that are really dangerous, why is Dominican Republic, India and most of these Arabs country not there, expatriates has been going missing for now in the Dominican, many Arab countries don’t have peace right now, the media just doesn’t cover it, even most East African nations have been in war for years now. Anything to belittle Nigeria at whole.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Anonymous
DeleteMy dear anony, Nigeria is a dangerous place. We are faced with SARS, police, bandits, boko haram (these groups are kidnappers).
DeleteThis total bs... How about Sri Lanka, Cambodia, United States (Chicago), South Africa ( highest crime rate).
ReplyDeleteNigeria should start a campaign about rebranding their image internationally.
The media is a tool used by the Western world to frustrate developing countries with vast mineral/natural resources.
which sri lanka? because of one terror attack? u want to compare that to what we have here in naija? if u can put sri lanka there and shouting total bs then i wonder who feeds u ur news,u put chicago like naija isnt supposed to be among the 1000 ways to die,u go out,e no sure say u go reach house, police fit kidnap u,kidnappers too,u can enter one chance or even ritualists carry u go,no job, poverty in the land,he even listed cambodia before naija..Oga sit down
DeleteI agree with the south africa ranking.the crimerrate and violence is very very high. Talk about petty crimes, rape, murder.... Are all common occurrence.
ReplyDeleteAs for the other countries, i cant say. But for Nigeria, i think it's more of corruption, than crime per se.
Was it not Mexico a few days ago had a bloodbath on its streets simply because a drug lord's son was arrested? Police had to release the guy to avoid more deaths, criminals are the ones calling the shot, was an incredible story to read. Yet Mexico is not on this list.
ReplyDeleteAll those that agree with this ranking, please find somewhere else to live *rme
They see us winning and they are angry.. I've lived in Nigeria all my life in different states. They just want to sell and narratives. Police brutally kills in America. Kids are stabbed everyday in UK. But no dey go turn blind eye. I don't rate these rankings at all. We are still winning. We are still African giants. Not saying we are perfect but for all we've been through and the size of our population same. We are awesome. I love my country
ReplyDeleteI agree with it biko. It's just God that has been helping us stay alive. It's not about been street smart or wise, na God!
ReplyDeleteBeing not been
DeleteBefore nko. I agree
ReplyDeletetrue, tanker can just fall on someone car, malaria and typhoid is too common here, rape, kidnapping, rituals, 419, one chance etc
ReplyDeleteI disagree....Nigeria not as unsafe as they paint it.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree. This Malte zeeck is joking. I cant see countries like Yemen,Libya,Syria. Funny Brazil top the list when we know Columbia is a notorious place.
ReplyDeleteThey are Liars! America should be no. 1 in that list. Yeye dey smell
ReplyDeleteNonsense. Nigeria is the worst. In other countries, danger is localized while in Nigeria danger is out everyday looking for you. If you don't invite it, it invites itself into your life.
ReplyDeleteWhy would any Nigerian agree with this badbelle report by a group of No Bodies called InterNations?
ReplyDeleteWhy won’t they say when our priorities have shifted to hating ourselves. Scamming people. Our journalists have become lazy. No more research only copy and paste without verifying. our government are the real mvp cos the people they are governing are busy chasing bush rat whilst their country is on fire.
ReplyDeleteSomeone was asked if there was crime in his country and he said ‘oh yes, we have a lot of it and it is even dangerous to walk on the streets. Fraud, violence , rape and all other vices’.
ReplyDeleteNow he was asked again, ‘why don’t we get to hear about it in the news?’ And he said ‘ we don’t put our bad side out to the public to hear or see’. We always try o put our best ‘foot’ out’. Now their country is one of the best places recommended for tourism.
What has killed us is that we are always quick to report the worst things happening in our country. Someone pees by the gutter, a passerby will get a video and send to blogs and the next thing it’s everywhere. The next you will hear is Nigeria is the dirtiest country to live in. No matter how little it may be.
How then do you expect the world to see you other than what you present to them.
I don't believe this report and the rankings abeg
ReplyDeleteNa wa oh
