Idris Elba Is Cutting Down On Social Media Usage Due To Depression

Popular British actor, Idris Elba, is trying to cut down on his use of social media because he gets so depressed by the instant access to world news.

Like most celebrities, the "The Wire" star can't get enough of the addictive nature of social media. According to the post on SandaRose.com, the 47-year-old British actor is an active user of Twitter and Instagram but he finds world events saddening.
"I've been trying to wean myself off," the actor and DJ tells Fast Company magazine. "I used to post a lot more, but it's been putting me off lately. And Twitter's just not how I want to receive my news.

"I read the news aggregated on my iPad, but I can't check it constantly - I'm not proud of it, but it's true - because it makes me feel depressed."
Instead, Idris is weaning himself off of social media by clearing his head, saying: "I'll just sit in the dark, stare, and try not to do anything - just clear my mind and decompress."

The superstar says he only sleeps "four or five" hours a night, and he schedules his time in terms of projects rather than days or hours.
"I don't think in terms of minutes or hours or days or dates, especially because I'm traveling between time zones," he adds. "My home base is London, but I could be working anywhere around the world. I pretty much know my schedule for the whole year, and I think of it in terms of blocks of time, where each project is a block."

*Staying away from the social media is actually soul refreshing!!!

    Social mmebi dey spoil things.
Except you are such that your work is centered around there. But even at that
you have your leave and off days from work.
A lot of (Naija) girls do not want to tell themselves the truth.
2 Pet. 2:19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves
are slaves of depravity--for "people are slaves to whatever has mastered them."

The truth is that they are addicted, depressed but living fake lives.

  6. When I see people like this fall into depression, I know that no body has it all and that one must be grateful for who God has made them be.

    1. Read again. There’s a difference between falling into depression and being depressed by negative news.
Negative news is depressing but that state isn’t chronic.
