Is there a particular thing that is done or eaten? Are there restrictions on anything?

  2. Yes. On Christmas eve, we light candles in a circle, and dance around the candle. And afterwards we settle down to eat goat ears with cassava. 😁

  6. Uka abani! but it’s been long I attended one because of the fireworks. Some naughty guys can like to scare someone with that. They can even throw it at you.

  7. I come from a town in Kogi State, and we speak Yagba language. I remember that, while growing up, on Christmas Eve, we would attend evening service in church and then, return home to roast yams in an open fire, and eat together. We would then go to bed, to prepare for Christmas day service. I don't know if it's done like that anymore

  9. My Nana has 4 kids and 16 grandchildren,
Way back , we’ll travel to my Nana’s place on Christmas Eve.she has a lot of assistance they’d help cook all kinds of Creole cuisines. She also like to pay homage to some of her ancestors and such there’s always going to be cooked yam and fish sauce or egg sauce on the side .
According to her , it’s a tradition passed down from generation to generation(as far back as 600 or more years ago ) .
It’s was so much fun and all that . My Nan died a little over seven years ago and a lot of us have move to other countries for work/study etc so it’s a bit of an hassle to bring everyone together again .
In the last 6 years I’ve decide to come up with my own little tradition with my dad . He’ll fly over on 22nd of December and have Christmas dinner we’ll load up on yams πŸ˜‚ and spend quality time together , we exchange Christmas and birthday gift (his birthday is on 25th )
My dad Goes back home or to his holiday destination on 24th to chill with his family .

    It’s been great
