Footballer Sadio Mane's Mindset On Buying And Flaunting Luxury Goods

"Why would I want ten Ferraris, twenty diamond watches, or two planes? What will these objects do for me and for the world?

I was hungry, and I had to work in the field; I survived hard times, played football barefoot, I did not have an education and many other things, but today with what I win thanks to football, I can help my people.

I built schools, a stadium, we provide clothes, shoes, food for people who are in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people in a very poor region of Senegal which contributes to their family economy.

I do not need to display luxury cars, luxury homes, trips and even planes. I prefer that my people receive a little of what life has given me."

    1. Stella nnem, I have got tears in my eyes as I type this. This is what our purpose on earth is. And I mean every single one of us is here is help each other and preserve the earth. You see as this post has generated less than 25 comments. Our sense of community as Africans is non existent. If you talk they will say you have poverty mentality. What is the point having luxury cars with no roads to drive it. What is the point living in fear of been murdered by desperate destitutes... paying through your nostrils for protection. Ehn? People now lack value and purpose because there are no more role models...what we have left are thieving pastors, whoring mothering, irresponsible dads and rapists uncles. Truly and sadly, the evil one is focused on his objective to steal, kill & destroy. Sometimes I feel so helpless .....sigh

    1. Another way of being a model African player is to have an African wife and African kids. Do not have your wealth flow out of the motherland in a so called swirl relationship after all big athletes from other parts of the world have not been looking elsewhere to create a kingdom called a home ....from your brother

    2. It is not by force to marry an African wife abeg. What he should model and I hope he is, is a good and sane and stable family life.

    3. If you marry an African with poverty mentality like most of them that chase iPhone and other mundane
materials, she will run him to the ground. He should continue what he is doing that seem to work and leave hungry, poverty-ridden African ladies (with false sense of entitlement) alone.

    4. Wise words! Nigerians are very sentimental, everything is not marry an African bla bla bla. Truth is most oyibos are honestly not as materialistic as the the people that some people are saying he should have married...

  9. Very good but a lot of other footballers do these things. Drogba for example. I don’t mind people who are doing what they love and earning legitimately splashing out on their hard earned money. They also look after their loved ones. Anyway there are levels. Ronaldo and Messi’s bank balances are on different levels.

  10. He is a rare gem and kudos to him. But all the people praising him here will be the first to look down on his non designer self if he went incognito. True wealth gives you freedom from materialism.

    1. The good thing I see in him is that he doesn't need people's validation. So he won't care if people (foolish ones) look down on him or not.
