Preacher Says Christmas Is Not Biblical

General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Daniel Olukoya says the church does not celebrate Christmas because it is not in the Bible....

Olukoya said that no book in the bible recorded the word 'Christmas' or recorded that Jesus was born on December 25th.

“If you really study the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, there is no word like Christmas. The bible only recorded that the Shepherds were taking care of their flocks during a very cold season when they sighted the star that announced the birth of Jesus Christ.
This cold period could be around April or May,’’

He says that December 25 is a date originally set aside by the ancient Romans for Mars festival by the worshippers of the sun.

Olukoya said that the birth of Christ was subsequently co-opted into the same date to give the Mars festival more popularity and then renamed ‘Christmas’.
He warned the modern Christians to stop promoting such non Biblical celebration.

He says the MFM church has decided to engage members in various spiritual activities during such periods and other public holidays to discourage them from partaking in such unscriptural celebration.

    4. They never talk about God's greatest commandment which is love of God and love of man. They never talk about God's ten commandments to man. All they dwell on is these irrelevant arguments and cursing people to die by fire. Are those ones in the bible too? Mtchew!

    6. You failed to see the point. He only meant that 25th we celebrate wasn't written in the scriptures as jesus actual birth date, it could have been January or even April but 25th was what the Romans chose as the date

    1. Don't you think it is right that a day used to celebrate the Pagan god has been turned into a day to celebrate the Christian God thereby making Him more popular? I hope you know same applies to Sunday that we have all set aside for worship including the aforementioned church. Christmas might not be Biblical but the Bible also made us to understand that where two or three are gathered in Christ's name - Christ is present and whatever that we have agreed upon on earth has also been agreed in Heaven.

Even the Bible says that whatever we agree upon on earth has been agreed in Heaven and where two or three are gathered in Christ's name - Christ is present
A day like yesterday that brought a lot of smiles and happiness to people especially the least privileged should not be scrapped off.

    3. Yes Christmas is not in the Bible but christ is in the Bible. Christmas is a mass held in remembrance of Christ's birth!!! Na church mass wey the Christians of old celebrate in remembrance of Christ's birth. I refuse to get confused. Just the same way you can't find Christmas you also won't find the word easter in the Bible too!!! But we do celebrate all!!!

So if I were born on the same day that the Roman goddess is celebrated I won't celebrate abi?? This is a day chosen for JESUS CHRIST I am gonna celebrate his birth. Merry Christmas!!! Happy birthday sweet Jesus!!!

  10. Was Sunday service recorded in the Bible? Is it not the same ancient Romans that chose Sunday as church service day(because the Roman pagans worshipped their gods on that day). Why continue with the Sunday service church tradition and reject Christmas?

I love the way Mike bamiloye analysed this, we have cancer day, Father's Day, Mother's Day, etc, which are all man made and we celebrate them, and this one day that we choose to celebrate our Lord JESUS Christ is still under debate,SMH

Let's not forget that winter is also a cold season too. I beg to differ!!! This is a date accepted by majority. 15. Okay sir, I hear you. As for Me o, December 25th will always be Christ's birthday for me and I shall continue to celebrate it as such till Jesus comes.

  16. Okay he joined the Jehovah's witnesses in their research and conclusion.

Dear Pastor MFm, we didn't say the word Christmas is in the Bible but Christ is born was in the Bible

We as Christians need to acknowledge that once upon a time, that same God you serve sent us a saviour, he was born as man.

We don't have the exact date he was born but bible recorded the event took place so it is enough & beneficial for us to set aside a date and acknowledge that honour and privilege (Jesus Christ) God gave us

You guys should stop pretending to teach us what we already know. You all read Bible and interpret it in your own spiritual way but cannot interpret this one.

  17. Things like this tends to bring division among Christianity. What matter most is the purpose and intent of the celebration and not actually the date or month. If he goes deeper into history, he will also know that the JESUS he mentioned isn't the original name but man made. Yeshua is the original name of Christ..

Even the Christ we talked about wasn't a Christian on earth but a Jew that practice Judaism. It was after his death the word Christian came to be.

I am yet to hear this argument from European pastors, Na only African pastors go dey talk Christmas OK heard it's your opinion, let's keep winning souls.

  18. Lol. If na Daddy Freeze talk am now, all of dem go off pant, enter road, crase.

There's NO way Jesus could have been born in (what we now know as) December. I don't know who/what some of you think you're celebrating on 25/12 but God that took on the form of a man, is definitely NOT the reason for this season. For those that want to say it doesn't matter as long as He was born, it does. Cos 1) If for instance I as a mere human being, say my birthday is in July and you keep holding celebration in October, no be me you dey celebrate - no matter how many people you call. And 2) God no send anybody to celebrate His birthday. The only thing He asked to be celebrated in relation to Him can be found in Luke 22:19. This was reiterated in 1 Corinthians 11:24 & 25. Na so una dey take enter cult on top of "I didn't know" and "but e no matter."

I see & hear some things people do and SMH. If una like, no dey ask questions, oh. Anywhere you see crowd where they say na the happening place, chook your head put. Especially if they say you must get your miracle sharp sharp. Eat and drink anything there in the name of 'communion' - even the one you bring from your house and they 'bless'. If dem give you wetin to rub, do too. I'm still marvelling at the seriousness of the spell it must take for anybody with a brain not to figure out that there is something seriously wrong with a church selling stuff labelled 'riches oil'. Don't know God for yourself, be doing "My daddy/mama in the lord say." They will put recurring problems in your life, donate you to their covens, initiate you into what you don't know, and you will just go to Hell at the end of the day cos Satan doesn't understand that you didn't know you're a blind witch.

That's how I asked someone wey say dem be pastor where something they were trying to justify (that I know is blatantly occultic), is in the Bible and they said, "Drop Bible first." Hian! I asked if their congregation is aware their pastors "drop Bible" as they come up with certain instructions they claim are of the Holy Spirit, no answer. Na so dem dey sleep with people wife under the guise of "It's not in the Bible but it's a higher revelation God gave my pastor cos he's special." A lot of things that have become church tradition are STEEPED in the occult. People be practising juju, foolishness and witchcraft boldly in broad daylight, claiming it's God they're serving.

How do I know yours is a good place to be and not one of those?
One would surely seek the assembly of the children of God and not forsake them. There are still the true worship centres

  19. Neither are birthdays or anniversaries in the Bible. But we do know that the Christ child was celebrated with gifts and acknowledgement upon his birth. So we continue that tradition today in remembrance of the birth of Christ and make an effort to give to the unfortunate in memory of the spirit of Christ.

  20. Christian's why can't we speak with one voice for once, just picking a date to celebrate our lords birth some are still against it. Oga pastor please leave 25 for us.

  21. Of course it’s not biblical, same as going to church on Sunday, collecting tithe & offerings, building universities that your members can’t afford, buying jets etc. but we choose to celebrate it. Dey your dey make we dey our dey!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. But it is ok to cajole members of your congregation to buy you private jet, build schools for the elite, pay tithes to you their neighbours cannot afford one meal a day, kill other humans by praying by fire and so many other rubbish you guys do. If the celebration of Christmas doesn't go well with you then leave others to do what they believe in!

    1. MFM does not do private jet things. They are very involved in the community, they established a football academy with full sponsorship for the teams that have gone as far as representing Nigeria internationally. They also provide scholarships for underprivileged children to attend the Mountain Top university, amongst many other initiatives. I know all this because the HQ is right behind our place and my sister attends there.

  23. Please since it is wrong to celebrate Christmas on 25th December, at least why not research on the right date so we can celebrate. Do not just point out a problem, please profer solutions. I believe what truly matters is the motive of those celebrating. Some celebrate rightly while some celebrate wrongly. Please do it rightly with Jesus in mind.

  27. Odiegwu ooooh! Is everything Olukoya and MFM doing biblical? Where in the bible did God tell us not to wear earrings and ornaments? They are over flogging this Christmas issue they'll never win. They should leave us to celebrate this in peace. A lot of their doctrine in that church is also man made.haba! And I'm very sure God is not angry at the world for celebrating Christmas.

  29. When I saw this trending yesterday, I had a strong feeling to visit his page and drop a few words of advice but Christmas fever took over 😁.
What is wrong with Some of these Nigerians
    religious clerics?
Why do some of them like to force their opinions down everyone’s throat?
Was he in particular forced to celebrate Christmas?
His followers already got the message from time immemorial so why come on SM to disturb some peace? Unless quite a number of his followers are now partaking in the celebration 😁.
All I’m saying is, He needs to learn how to DO HIM and let others do themselves (in a nice and positive concept before I get misinterpreted).
However anyone choses to celebrate and worship shouldn’t be any of his business if truly, he was called to preach because I don’t recall anywhere in the Bible where it was stated that Jesus or Elisha or Elijah or Paul and Peter forced preaching a down the people’s throat.
These Clerics needs to understand that Salvation is a personal journey. Their job is to preach and let the flock follow WILLINGLY.

God bless us All. Amen 🙏🏼.
