Whatsapp Will Soon Stop Working On Old Phones...

If you are using an older phone and you are wired on WhatsApp, you need a phone upgrade urgently. WhatsApp has announced it will stop working on millions of phones from 31 December, as they have reached their lifespan.

That means users on a variety of older handsets could end up losing access to the messaging app.

Facebook-owned WhatsApp has confirmed via its support page that it will stop supporting these devices on December 31, 2019.

The company says that any phone running the Windows Mobile operating system will not be supported after this date.

However, that’s not all. Any iPhone running software older than iOS 7 will no longer be supported and neither will any Android device with version 2.3.7 installed.

The iOS and Android blocks won’t happen this month but will take place on February 1, 2020.

    1. Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread) was released over 8 years ago. If you still use this version of android phone, the phone manufacturers no longer support them with spares or repairs. They are obsolete. For iOS users, this will affect many Nigerians who use iPhone 6 and lower versions.

  8. People should better start learning to live without these social media
How can something just drop down from the blues and be controlling people's lives
like this. And people will be trembling if they say they won't support?
Can't we see that these people are collaborating to make everyone buy the latest
    products of these other companies?

    1. Get another Android and switch on the Wi-Fi Hotspot;then connect your phone to the Wi-Fi and update..

Nothing to worry about..OR you send the updated version via xender from another Android to your own device;then install(it will update)

  14. I don't see this to be an issue. Since most Android users are using Android 5 and above.

  15. There is an alternative to Whatsapp, it's called, Viber. I have both Viber and Whatsapp. Viber has more functionality than Whatsapp in my opinion, but not many ppl know about it. Those ppl with older phones download the Viber app and tell your family and friends to do the same. You don't have to run out to get a new phone.
