Labour Room Drama - 280

WOW....Drama less drama?

Dear Stella,

I wrote you a mail in 2016 when i conceived my son after i lost my first child. Well my son now has a sister and i want to gist you all about her birth.

I took in for my daughter and as with both my previous pregnancies i had no morning sickness and no cravings, just the normal me looking like a blowfish.

A few weeks to my EDD, an older woman that works in my office met me at the open office and asked if i'm not due yet, that i looked ready to burst. Well i told her i wasn't ready and that i was scared after i was in serious labour pains for 22hours when i had my son. I was yet o get over the experience. So she held my hand and said to me " your labour will be fast and painless and you will know it is just unsual" i heard my entire junior colleagues chorus "AMEN" i didn't know they were all listening. Well since then a particular colleague decided to keep asking if i m ready every week and i always gave him the same answer "No i'm not.. any day i say i'm ready, baby will come"

On my EDD, the same junior colleague stopped to say hello and casually asked if i was ready yet and i told him yes i was ready. He left my office to tell his colleagues that i said i was finally ready and they laughed about it. I m the youngest married female and only preggy woman there so they all derived joy in teasing me. Different bosses had different names for me "Belle, Belema, Biggy biggy, ball" etc one even told me he will have to expand his office doors since i had become too big.

Anyway, that evening, my dad came to town, i stopped by to see him at his friend's office and pick up somethings mum sent me. i also promised to get to his hotel with hubby when he returns from work. His friends teased me about how i was so small the last time they saw me and they wondered how i managed to fit behind the steering with my big tummy.

when i got home, i took over from my nanny with my clingy 2year old. I had to wash and make Ukwa (aka Bread fruit) for dinner. 7.30pm, hubby came back. i was complaining he was late knowing we had to visit daddy. I also told him i was feeling some discomfort and recurring braxton hicks, he said we should go to the hospital and i said no, i wanted to go and see dad. We finally agreed to make a stop at the hospital and then see dad.

When we got to the hospital, doctor decided to do the dreaded check and said i was 8.5cm wow .he was like, what have you been doing at home. I told him i was waiting for the pains to come. Well, before we got to the delivery room, my water broke. the nurse said, keep your legs closed, get undressed etc. i wonder how i was supposed to undress with my legs closed, i was wearing trousers. That was how we entered an unprepared delivery room before the doctor could get there or the nurse could settle in, baby came out and was caught by a curious assistant that came to observe. Baby showed up 20 minutes after we got to the hospital. .. I for go born for my dad's hotel room or even at home lol.

It was a painless delivery. I didn't believe it was possible. Plus baby looks like her dad. Good thing my son looks like me. People still ask if he is a boy or a girl..

I honestly thank God for a Painless delivery with no tears and cuts.

Congratulations babe!!!
