    1. Her reason is somehow sha

However, women really really need to do better at work if they want this gender equality shit to work well.

65% of ladies are lazy at work. Please don't come asking me any yeye where I got my statistics.

They are so draggy in their work places especially in this Nigeria. Go to banks and see them on counter beefing you whether you fine pass instead of facing their job. Go to hospital and see how frustrated nurses are. Is it shops; *we don't have change ooo* like ma are you doing me a favor or I am doing you a favour. Customer care nko? Chat up any company online and see the difference between male reps and female reps.

The list is endless. Don't know if it's changing hormones or period that is causing it, but a lot of women are truthfully sooo lazy at work.

That's how they cry about landlords refusing to rent to single girls. Take a trip down houses and see what girls do so you will understand better. Many break landlord's homes with any means possible (jazz inclusive), to dodge paying rent. They avoid compound bills like plague and keep seducing male tenants till they get them to be sorting their bills.

On a good day, I advocate for women right. But truth must be said. Most of them make it seem as if the only thing women are in this world to do is to learn how to stay pretty, have sex and collect money and bear children. That is why men treat them anyhow sometimes.

You don't know what the employer (though weird reason, but not too weird) has seen to resolve this.

If you say you want to work, mean business and work for real. Most of you only see working as somewhere to collect pocket money at month end. Please work is work! That's y I love the honest ones that say they just want to be trophy wife and sit pretty because they understand they don't have energy for work and work sadly is WORK!

    3. Anon 11:36 you're very correct. You captured so many cases and instances in different work places that it will be difficult to disprove. Feminists will disagree knowing all you said is true. Worst aspect was that a woman denied another job. The reason she gave might not be the only reason but she summed it up using pregnancy as excuse.

My landlady sales in front of the compound. She will be on the phone and too lazy to get you anything that is withing her stretched hand. Sometimes, just because she does not want to get up from the chair, she will tell you she does not have change.

Some women, to get up and go do something is so laborious. Some to pick something that fell from their hand, they have to sigh first, look around to see if there's anyone around to assist to pick it up for them.

Even in banks, over the counters, you see and notice the most lines that move fast are the ones men are attending to customers.

No one is insulting women but that's the way it is.

  2. Don't want to sound harsh or unreasonable, but sometimes that pregnancy can slow things down and you are getting to deliver. It's generally tough being a woman.

  5. Na today? It's very common and I have personal experience.

I was newly married when one of the jobs I applied for clicked.

I was called for an interview and subsequently employed .

The month I got the job was the time I took in and I was praying not to be sacked because it was part of the terms and agreement, although not in paper.

They just waited patiently for me at the close of the year, and told me not to return again in the new year.

Their reason; they don't want a pregnant front desk officer.

  6. Pls remove sentiment, if they tell her not to get pregnant till the is completed will she agree? She will still come here to scream.

  11. Hmmmm .... Sad as it is this is the reality. I had been out of job for about 3 years now cos I got pregnant at my last place of work, went to deliver but lost it as they said they didn't want me a newly married getting pregnant again. While home I got pregnant a second time when my baby was one but lost the pregnancy. I'd been home all this while and just last week I got another job but found out this week that I'm pregnant and much as I'd been TTC all this while I'm so so glad about my pregnancy yet extremely scared to mention it at work that im 12 weeks gone. Now I'll soon start showing so I have to act fast. So so confused. The pay is meagre but it is better than nothing. God help me. It ain't easy being a woman.

    1. Anon 11:32 see, as women wanting space in in the corporate world we don’t have to leave everything to chance. What happened to effectively planning your family?
Deciding on how many children you want and when to have them. Plan effectively and have it fail than no planning at all.
As a female employer I hate to feel this way about women but as I always say, an employee will never understand an employer until you’re in her position.

    2. Blue bubble made valid points. Plan and fail than not plan at all. In many big organizations, no one cares if you are pregnant as long as you've been tested and trusted to be a good material- women in their late 30s and 40s get pregnant and deliver without their jobs being affected because they've been around and have always delivered on the goods. They may even be supported to work from home etc as an employer, I am thinking about RISK. I don't want to invest in a person who would take leaves and other times off work and I can't plan around her, transfer her, get her to do unplanned extra time, etc. It's is just too costly. If it was a guy who had to care for his sick mother, I'd have to make the same decision with tears in my eyes. And to think women know this and are still not planning reproduction and other aspects of rearing a family... It is not only "think like a man" women should be doing but think like an employer if you are an employee. An efficient secretary or mid-level manager is not getting fired at 27 for getting pregnant after serving for like 4 years. Her boss is attending the naming ceremony and patiently waiting for his superpower to get back. They would be the first to bring up a car or extra pay. Even childcare and some more pay to make things easy, he/she will consider to keep you productive. Your own case may not be impossible but it would be tough.

  12. I went for a job interview in one of ourNigeia Telecom Giants, they said they don't want a married woman with because shortly I may get pregnant cos they can't control that.To think I was coming in an as experience hire, it's kind of difficult for married women getting job in the private sector in Nigeria,God should keep helping us because it is not a crime to be married.

    1. This is why I always advise ladies to be gainfully employed and have a career before getting married. Stop marrying as students and fresh out of school. Especially when you’re not rich or married a man with enough resources to cater for you and your new family.

  14. There's nothing strange here.Things like this happen everyday. It's called life!...Some jobs are more tailored to men than women.people should learn to suck things up & let go,....otherwise,go to the nearest mountain, tie yourself to a tree & fast for 40 days!!!....

  15. It happened to me Not once but thrice. I passed the various stages of the interview and the final stage was to meet the MD. He was pleased with me cos i went well prepared. Only for him to tell me that he doesn't want a woman. Why shortlist me in the first place. I am a female engineer and proud to be one. This is the only occupation that i love and gives me joy and fulfilment. I know i will get my dream job again by God's grace.

  16. This is discrimination based on gender. It’s a different thing if a woman is being inefficient at work and they let go of her. As a woman, it is your right to give birth and to refuse to hire you based into that is just discrimination. I live in a sane country here and women are accommodated to the point of undue hardship, 18 months maternity and the father also gets 4 months mat leave. They hire a contract staff to cover for you in your absence and when you resume, they let you close early and also work from home for most of the week. Nigeria’s work environment treats women like second class citizens.

  18. still boils down to discrimination against women which feminism stands against. a woman must be a woman. she has been programmed to have periods, get pregnant and be reprogrammed by hormones sometimes, should she change who she is? there are equally lazy men as there are women so dont know what you are talking about. because of how God made the male body you have more muscles and physical strength which makes certain jobs more suited to them but has statistics shown that some women who were given those kind of jobs did not perform well? some women are lucky and still get around well during pregnancy. we dont know what this specific job is anyway but alot of these discriminations are just based on gender stereotypes

  20. I wish some of you can just consider how easy it is to pay a staff on maternity leave in this country. To add to that when many women get to 4 months they naturally become slow, how many can afford to pay a staff acting slow? Also add the need for school run, child in the hospital etc.

    God bless all of you
