Adventures Of Oko Ashawo The Uber Driver - 25

Scammers are increasingly on the prowl these days and no one is spared from their scripted schemes.....

Late 2019, I received a request from a guy named Bosun, who made me believe he just returned from 'the abroad'. He lodged in a hotel and after my first encounter with him, he always called to use my service.

We worked together for a while and I took him out mostly at nights to the clubs. I once took him to the Bureau de Change where he changed some foreign currency into Naira, so this made me trust him and believe his abroad story....

There was a day he borrowed 10 thousand naira from me after using my service, making it 15 thousand naira in total that he owed me. He promised to pay back later in the day after changing more foreign currencies into Naira. That same day, he was with 2 girls in his room and he told me to come back by 4pm as we would be dropping off the girls together and do some financial transactions afterwards.

When I got to the hotel, I saw him driving out with another guy in a car and he told me he would be back within the hour. The scales fell off my eyes after waiting for more than 4 hours and his phone was switched off.

The manager of the hotel went to his room and discovered that he had only a pair of jeans trousers and 2 shirts hanging in the wardrobe with some dirty boxers and t-shirts.

he had defrauded all of us because he owed the hotel alot of money and he was yet to pay,the girls he had a threesome with were also still around waiting to be paid.....

After analysing the situation, I used my tongue to count my teeth and decided to run with my losses- The hustle must continue...

I  shared my experience with the drivers’ whatsapp group that I belong and surprisingly, a few other drivers have had similar experiences with other riders.

True true ,No be today nyash don dey for back.

Some months later, as I was going through the drivers’ whatsapp group, someone posted the picture of a fraudster who was apprehended and in police custody. My eyes lit up as I realized that it was Bosun.

I drove there quickly and met 6 other drivers he had done a similar thing to. A list of all he owed us was made and guy man owed over 90 thousand naira. I quickly called the hotel manager to inform him of the latest development  and also informed him to call those girls he had s*xually defrauded if he had their numbers.

After a few days, Bosun’s father who looked like he had some raw cash bailed him out and paid back all that was owed us. The police also collected 5k from my 15k as percentage for the debt recovery ...

These days I am woke and it is not me that will borrow a customer my hard earned cash...even if you drag my name to Okija shrine,it will not happen.
I am waiting to get back actively to work work and see what new schemes these scammers have hatched post coronavirus....

Na to dey use corner eyes look dem like money but with my money firmly sticking to the walls of my blokos..Yes,oh,when all else fails na paent be the best place to hide money....

Shout out to the small haters i don gather for this column,,e sweet me die say una notice me,common Oko ashawo.....

  9. I don't know why some girls will take such a risk, just because he said he is from "abroad"
A strange man that can have threesome with you can murder the two of you and hide the evidence.
Even the okay ashawo that lent him 15k did so because of the "abroad" tag and wouldn't mind some
    foreign cash.
And the police; I hardly have any pity for them when they start reaping the due rewards of their
thefts from the citizens they are supposed to protect. What a people. 😮😮

    1. Beevees, can you see the co-conspirators here like others too? They're everywhere. They support their kind advertly or inadvertently. So don't say Oko-ashawo is generalising when he said lots are in the game while the few are on vacation for one ills or the other.
