Officer Who Used Knee To Kill Unarmed Man George Floyd’s Has Been Arrested And Charged With Murder

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who killed unarmed man George Floyd, has been arrested in Minneapolis, the Minnesota Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington announced.

Derek Chauvin, who was fired on Tuesday along with three other officers involved in the death of Floyd, was taken into custody Friday and faces charges of 3rd-degree murder and manslaughter.

Video showed Chauvin kneeling on Floyd's neck for about eight minutes on Monday night. The police department initially said Floyd "physically resisted" the officers and that he died after "suffering medical distress."

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the FBI are both investigating Floyd’s death.

Chauvin's arrest comes after three days of protests in the Twin Cities, with the unrest in some areas erupting into violence.

MInneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey had called this week for charges to be filed swiftly against the officer who pinned Floyd under his knee. "Why is the man who killed George Floyd not in jail?" Frey asked. "If you had done it or I had done it, we would be behind bars right now.”

    1. He'll still get about 25 years, that's better than nothing

    2. Its a start. Policeman that should have been arrested immediately the video came out the way the will immediately arrest anyone else who commits murder but they let him go home without arresting and charging him.
Hopefully this will keep other racist policemen on their toes to behave accordingly when it comes to black people.
He will definately serve time, its just a matter of how much time. His attitude in that video reeks of someone who thinks he can do whatever he wants to a black person, get away with it and absolutely nothing will happen to him. I can guarantee you right now he is scared as fuck and regretting his actions.

    3. Third degree murder, carries a 25 year prison sentence. He will die in Prison. He’s a cold piece. Very heartless and lacks any ounce of empathy. The guy was already handcuffed. There was no need for him to do what he did.

    4. 3rd degree murder in the state of Minnesota carries a maximum sentence of 20 years with an option of fine or both, depending on the judges discretion. However, this man is a police officer and they have some kind of leverage so Hel probably plead guilty and get a very very light sentence.

    5. Plus the autopsy report seems to have been manipulated because It exonerates him.

I am so upset with this guy. The poor lad told you he couldn't breathe but No you didn't stop, why? He wasn't even struggling!!

I pray justice is served and his miserable life never remains the same. Hope the story about his wife filing for divorce is true, bloody brute.

    6. Hopefully the judge will also put into consideration during sentencing that he has 18 priors

    7. Third degree murder does not necessarily get 25 years, it only carries a MAXIMUM OF 25 YEARS. The sentence will be based on the Judge's discretion but must never be above 25 years.

    1. Trust me, he will. The sad part for him is that he will be in protective custody. He will only be let out of his cell an hour daily. He will have lots of time to think over all the other unarmed black men he shot. He will think of the way he treated Floyd, who he used to work with for two years at the bar. Inmates and prisoners, hate cops. He is so done. Very done. He might take the easy way out there. He was bad news for that police department and they should have let him go after his first incident bur they didn’t and he got emboldened.

    2. Inmates and prisoners are not the only ones that would have dealt with him. Black prison guards and officials will also deal with him in their own way. The guy is finished. His goose is cooked!!

      Delete
    3. Black prison officers will not do nothing to him. They will house him in Protective housing. Those are easy gigs and the white officers mostly get assigned to the easy gigs like the hole. But good thing is the other inmates there will be watching their every move if they give him more hour outs, they will have to give everyone else extra time out or they tell.

  6. We pray same is done to the trigger happy policemen that shot Tina.

  7. I just watched a CNN interview with a witness at the scene. The guy is a martial artist and there is something called a blood choke where u strangle your opponent until he passes out. He told this Derek "you're holding him in a blood choke...let him go." He said this man stared directly into his eyes and said nothing. They wanted...no...they intended to kill George Floyd.

Rest in power George Floyd..I know you will get justice unlike my country where innocent people are killed by police almost everyday.

    May God protect us all

    1. Nobody teaches that crap in the academy. When you are on duty and get involved in any use of force incident, you only use Department approved defensive tactics techniques. Anything outside you d that, you will be terminated.
During trial, the jury will want to know one thing.
Was the use of force necessary??
      Was it department approved??
      Was the force used reasonable??
We all know the answers to all those questions.

    2. The conversation is beginning to shift from black people telling their kids how to behave when they encounter police officers, especially whites,to making sure that these racist officers face the consequences of their actions. If not for public outcry, see how long it took for Aubreys Murderers to be arrested ?see how long it took them to arrest this police officers too in this case when there was a video that showed how they killed an already arrested man..

    3. Don’t get it twisted,American police force is the biggest cult in this country. They cover up for themselves or how in the world isn’t there any trace of strangulation in the autopsy?i won’t be surprised if this murderer walks or gets to do very little time in jail.Remember there are technicalities in law.

  10. Please he should be killed the exact same way he killed George. The other police accomplices should be given 25years to life in prison.

    1. Yep.!! They are guilty by association.
Ofc. Thao even had an open use of force case pending. The other three might get charged for manslaughter, which carries a lesser sentence. Sentencing guidelines specify as little as two years in some states. Bunch of retards, who lost their sense of reasoning.

    2. The man is walking free he wont smell prison

    3. First degree will be difficult to prove and he could walk. Why?? 1st degree is strictly premeditated murder. They have to prove that he went there with something to kill Floyd. What he’s charged with is accurate. There’s no way he will be acquired with all the uproar it has caused. The jury will find him guilty due to the video evidence. He failed to respond to the voices of bystanders, pleading and yelling at him. No way that fool gonna walk. He is guilty already.

  23. And his wife filed for divorce. Good. He doesn't deserve a wife by his side and the wife has a conscience.

Sadly, some of our Nigerian women would have gone online to beg for forgiveness on their husbands' behalf, to get public sympathy. Remember the kidnapper Evans, the stunt his wife pulled?

    1. Anon 10:17, the wife did not file because she has a conscience, the culture here is for your spouse or partner to abandon you in the time of crisis. Believe me, if he had lost his job or had a terminal disease, she would divorce him in the same manner. If you lived here, you would know, remember this man had 18 prior cases, she never left, she stood by him. Do you know how many people over here lose their jobs and are afraid to tell their spouse because the person would walk away? They pretend to still have a job until they get another one or go broke. Marriage is a business partnership in the West, essentially, you are what you earn.

    1. Arresting and charging him doesn’t mean a thing because at the end of the day if he has a good lawyer with white jury, I can assure you he might walk out free. Especially with the nonsense autopsy they just released. His bail is $500 k , believe me, they will raise money for him to be released.

  26. Anon 11:42 marriage here is not a business partnership. She is an Asian who may be petit as a lot of them are, this guy had 18 misbehaviors or infractions and was left at work because the police union is very powerful. The story is that he may have been a violent man at home and this was the woman’s chance to run as most who date or marry cops can’t easily leave them. Your entire data is accessible to them. Folks are insinuating that based on the comment of the owner of the night club he and the victim worked part time together as bouncers, he was a difficult and violent man who probably beat her. My marriage isn’t a business contract. Everyone can describe their marriage!
