    1. God opened my eyes to an incredible business idea that was a result of this covid crisis. In May, I made about £400 from it as I was just testing the waters. May God open our eyes oh. I can't thank Him enough. I also had enough savings for it.

I have learnt that God is able to bring back to life a dream that was dead. All things are possible with Him.

    3. My dear God will bless you. You even helped you old school mates to get jobs but my wicked uncle couldn't even assist his nephews and nieces get good jobs after rising to ambassadorial position in the same ministry. These are relations that supported him when he was struggling yet it is difficult to assist these people not to talk of their offsprings.

Everyday, I don't have money yet you relations are suffering and dieing and you can bury them when they die.
God please open doors for me I don't want my remaining parent to die without at least enjoying the fruits of her very tedious labour.
This is not the kind of life I envisioned for myself. Ihu

    6. Hello! Most people I know with BA in philosophy( myself included) are HR practitioners and are doing well by Gods grace. You can make inquiries on getting a professional certification from CIPM HRCI, SHRM. also gaining experience is key. Good luck!

  2. My own time has already passed. My children will study science based courses by God's grace, those are the good courses nowadays. I will struggle and make sure they do. That is why I don't want to have any more kids, two of them will stay alive for me and make me proud.
One says she wants to be a nurse, yhe other says he wants to be an engineer. I am still watching them, I know they will still change their minds cos they are still small, both in Primary school.

    3. History is also important. No course should be written off, follow your dreams!

    4. Exactly
All fields are relevant, it's just that our economy isn't robust, so you can hardly find jobs in certain fields. It's even one of the reasons we are in a mess. In the aftermath of this pandemic, govt ought to be planning with professionals from every fields in order to be better equipped

    5. Right my baby! 😘😘
IT is very lucrative and in high demand now too

    6. Economist are very relevant in this period sef, who guides you on how to allocate scarce resources. Countries and various institutions depend on their analsyis on how best to make the most of this period and beyond. Most profession are relevant, it only takes creativity to remain relevant.

  4. There is no career that is not needed for a complete and balanced society. But certain careers are over hyped like that in the medical fields.
Corona has taught us the very limitations of men and that God almighty rules in the affairs of men.
The best thing that can happen to any human being is to know God, know Jesus as Lord and Savior and follow the leading of his Spirit to choose your career irrespective of what people think. That is good success. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

  6. Donald Trump read Economics
    Okonjo Iwuala read Economics
    Soludo read Economics
    Ezekwesili read Economics.
I won't read economics because they did, but because that is where my niche in life is.
To find your niche, find Jesus.

  7. So, I'm in the wedding industry. Who knew a time would come when event planners would be so worried about what will become of their jobs. The wedding industry has been greatly affected by this pandemic. Right now, I think the only vendors who have nothing to worry about in the wedding industry are hairstylists, makeup artists, photographers and maybe bakers. Fashion designers as well. As the bride and groom will still have to wear clothes.

  8. All the history and others are still very very important. Even in this pandemic season it is the study of past pandemics and how they were handled that are giving us insight into what to do. My child wants to do graphic arts and I am still encouraging him 100%. No course is useless, Pandemic or not!! There is life after the pandemic!!!

  11. You are right. In-demand careers right now also include data scientists and analysts, full stack developers with knowledge of machine language, AI and robotics. The beautiful part is you don't have to get a degree in computer science to practice them.you can start with online resources and work on getting certifications. 3 of my friends that ventured into IT are earning an average of 500k/month now just 4years after graduation, they have been advising me to switch to IT but as for me I am working on my dream of becoming a very successful fashion designer. God please may I not regret my decision.

    1. God will guide..Just follow your heart desires dear...I think we should not focus much on science oriented courses, we also need business oriented persons like in Nigeria, whenever budget is passed the impact is not felt at other sectors or even the common masses..Its high time we focus on business managers and consultants who can help drive the economy and bring about critical thinking.

    2. If you can switch, please do!

  14. Today I went to the post office to transfer the money, needed to pay for my advance course to get my high school diploma, in my account. I have been saving for a while so I paid the total 7.755€ in full. Next year after I get my diploma I'll enroll in nursing school and after I get my degree I'll finally start a good paying job. I've always wanted to work in the medical field. I'm the poster that asked if I should go to nursing or medical school since this year I'll be 30 and most if not all adviced me to go to nursing school so I listened. In the beginning I felt like I was letting go of my dream to become a doctor but after this pandemic and seeing how useful nurses are I'm happy that one day soon I'll be called a nurse and I will be able to help and take care of the sick. No job is lowly. I think God wanted to humble me and show me my purpose. Helping those in need by being by their bedside. I stopped going to school at sixteen due to unforeseen circumstances but at the beginning of this new decade I decided that it was time to go back to school and make something out of myself and stop doing all this menial jobs and most importantly I'll be able to take care of my unborn children with a good paying job. My only fear is that there are many racist white italian people and very few black people in the medical field. I've experienced my own share of racism here in Italy but I pray that when I will start working as a nurse God will protect me and create a good job environment to work in for me. When I complete my studies I will share my testimony. From a psychiatric patient to a nurse. It can only be God. The journey will be long and not easy but it will be worthy. I thank God for healing and for ability to pay my fees even though I currently receive just 290 euros monthly from the government ( I don't pay rent and bills since I live in a shelter so every month I save 140 euros out of the 290). I can't wait to finish school and get a good paying job so I can mortgage my own house.

    1. Hi dear, going through your comment gave me hope. I'm quite young (22 actually), presently doing my masters and most times I feel like quitting. Thanks for this comment, I'd definitely go to med or nursing school after this M.Sc as it has always been my dream. You just gave me motivation to continue going. God bless you dear; I believe in you and you will achieve great things.

I keep telling people, we cant change our past, but we can work extra hard to create the future we want by being intentional with our career growth.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed, just remember that we are here cheering you onto the finish line. Love you!

  15. History is a lovely subject. I still try to read histories once in a while...especially since our leaders who led us in the past are still leading us till now😒.
I don’t think any course is useless.
It’s just that the medium to practice some courses aren’t available. Hence why they are tagged useless.
One can’t possibly study archaeology in Nigeria and hope to solve anything with it in Nigeria, cause such medium isn’t available.
Anthropology is one course I’d love to study if I have the time or chance to.
I think the important thing is doing what you love sha.

  18. Forget that one Stella. Me that did a science based course I’m still earning peanuts meanwhile my friend that did linguistics is earning millions in the UN. All courses are good and valuable. It just matters on where u end up.

  19. I believe every course has its usefulness. One's success in life doesn't depend solely on the course of study. Education in my opinion is a means to develop the mind. Even people that didn't go to school still achieve success.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It’s not about the course but what exactly you do with it

    ReplyDelete
  21. All courses are important and relevant. School ought to teach you how to think outside the box and think as though there was no box... It is left to you to apply creativity to what you studied. All courses are important and relevant. The problem is not with the course but with the individual.

  22. Stella, this advice is warped. The shows being streamed on Netflix and Iroko were not written or performed by doctors. The books people ordered online to pass time and the music they played were not the work of engineers. We can do more than be employees chasing a cheque every other week. We can be in jobs that pay well and are fulfilling at the same time. You are not in the sciences either and the programmers who put WordPress together are not running this blog but you are. You've made a succes out of the template you paid them for.

The important thing is to find how ones career can always be at the frontline of innovation, to adjust to the times so that we are always relevant and the customer's choice.

This is is the same thing Stella did. She took her training and experience as a journalist and decided to start her own business. Some people may have killer success with supporting someone else's business eg Herbert Wigwe is an employee and yet, was able to donate 1 billion that most CEOs do not have to the Ca-Covid fund. Just fulfill your destiny and have a full life. Despite Corona, booms by Wole Shoyinka, Chimamada Adichie and Sefi Atta are still selling like hotcakes. Music by your faves are still being endlessly streamed.

You could die at the desk as many in the healthcare field are finding out- if you were one of them, won't you want to die doing something you love?

  23. I read Theatre Arts and I'm still in regrets after seven years. I have never worked with that certificate. People don't even take me serious when I tell them what I studied.I had to just study the course cause I was tired of staying at home, tired of jamb frustration, pressure from my mom.I needed an escape. I'm jobless, hungry and broke. Now,I see the sadness in my mum's eyes concerning my plight. It's very sad.
