House Of Reps Member Ask Niger Delta Minister Akpabio What Happened To Nigeria's N81.5 Billion

The ongoing friction between the House of Representatives and the Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, has taken a new turn with a statement released late on Tuesday, July 28, 2020.⁣

The statement, signed by House spokesperson, Honourable Benjamin Kalu, accused Akpabio of trying to distract Nigerians by raising 'spurious allegations' against members of the National Assembly to damage the investigation into the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).⁣

Kalu said the letter Akpabio wrote to House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila last week exonerated the current Ninth House of Reps, but failed to address the lawmakers' ultimatum for him to publish the names of beneficiaries.⁣

"Nigerians are encouraged to ignore the deflections of the Honourable Minister and continue to ask the right questions as to what happened to the money of the region which has led to a gross disservice to Niger-Deltans.⁣

"Nigerians should start asking the right questions and demanding the right answers; and the right question remains, 'What happened to Nigeria's N81.5billion under the charge of NDDC in the space of 6 months?'"⁣

The House said the minister should stop spinning tales and publicly publish the names of lawmakers who received NDDC contracts.⁣

  5. Akpabio is using mix and match to try his 'get away'! Hahahahahahaha, they caught him. The names he's mentioning happened in 2018 which is not in their jurisdiction. They are asking him what happened between January and May 2020. How 81.5 billion picked race in six months and he's telling them tales by moonlight that happened two years ago. Na here we dey!
