Mrs Dee's Corner - Book Lover!

I am a book lover and i will always be one!

If you gift me a good book,it elicits so much elation and appreciation from me and win my heart forever!

I've read quite a number of books that were not only interesting but full of wisdom and insight, but the ones that left an indelible mark and taught me some of the most important principles of life were; Chicken Soup For The Christian Soul series by Jack Canfield, Rejection Proof by Jia Jiang and Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom.

My quest to know more and be better informed pushed me to read these books when someone recommended them and it has opened my eyes to the resilience of the human spirit regardless of daunting challenges, sickness and grief over the loss of a loved one.

I read true heart wrenching stories of people who life had battered so much but who still chose to remain positive and not relent in trying to make something meaningful out of their pain and loss.

Tuesdays With Morrie captured the popular saying 'Life is short' and the times spent pursuing after success, fame and wealth while ignoring the true essence of human living; relationships with friends, loved ones and families would be almost impossible to retrieve when we finally need them.

I've always taken any form of rejection a tad too personal.
Each time I experienced rejection, I would brood over it for days, blame myself and over-analyze the surrounding situation and how I could have done better to prevent being turned down. Of course, it hardly made any difference and only made me feel worse but 'Rejection Proof' helped me deal with the fear of rejection and get over the guilt and anger easily.

There are so many amazing books with great content out there and it's always a pleasure to soak it all up through reading.

What books positively changed your perception about life and human relationships?

I love to do research, I don't like being ignorant of something. It has helped me sha cos I know a thing or two about a lot of things and I can seat anywhere and talk with anyone. Growing up I had so many older friends and they knew a lot and I wanted to know too lol.

  9. Nice one Mrs Dee, to know that you love to read edifying books.
    I read too; the Bible first and some inspirational books like;
Fasting by Jentezen Franklin, Schuller's Tough times don't last...,
Fever -hunt for a new killer virus, Heaven is for real by Todd Burpo and Lynn vincent,
    etc.
It is a pity that a lot of Nigerian youths no longer read but rather spend precious hours
watching reality shows, movies that promote nudity and loose morals, and of course
social media following those who don't even know where they are going. And whenever you reason
with them, you see how empty minded and depraved they are

  24. I can't call myself a fan of books but I read them regularly. One of the last ones was the book "The Handmaids Tale". I first read an essay about it on the site to see if it would suit me. By the way, this is very convenient. I also love a variety of novels and historical stories. Among the favorites there are many biographical books as well. Among your comments I also chose for myself the most popular books and will also try to read them.
