Sunday In House Gists - House Help Experience

If i do a post asking you people to tell your experience with house helps, the comments will be full but hey hold it right there!

These house helps also have stories to tell about you all......

Is there anyone here that knows about those who maltreat their househelps despite the fact that these helps are unproblematic?

Or were you once a house help and had a hair rising negative experience?

Some people treat their house helps horribly and treat their kids like Kings and Queens....Know anyone who does this?

Please share any stories you know with us ....

  1. We had house helps growing up. I'll say my grandma raised them well. Back then, when we're back from primary school, my grandma would use our books to teach the helps. She even gave them homework, and she'd mark it. She believed in equality. Whatever, she gives her grandkids, she gives them. Until she died, the helps still came around to visit.

    8. My Aunty was so wicked to her househelp.Benita's mum had 10 children and she was the 2nd child. The girl's mum saw how her sister's child was treated and looked in my house,She begged my mother to take her own daughter as a househelp, but my mum didn't want problem and refused. So she had to tell Benita's mum about my Aunt who had been searching for a help for a while now.Benita was about 12 or 13.My Aunt had 4 kids and her first born, just a year younger than Benita.

We didn't know about the maltreatment because when they come for a day's visit, everything seemed normal aside from shouts and insults over minor mistakes, sometimes my mum will caution my Aunt over things that didn't require a reaction. We noticed the girl became quiet and walked on egg shells around my Aunt.It was odd because she stayed with us for 1 week when she came first and was such a chatter box, very lively, smart, beautiful and funny girl.We thought maybe she was growing and getting matured that is why.

It was a holiday period and Aunty had travelled for a wedding. The kids came to stay with us.One fine morning,we heard our help calling for my mum to come and see!! We rushed with her back to the room, and Benita just got out of the bathroom. She had rushed to dress and wore her usual long sleeves and long skirt or trouser. She didn't know while wiping her body, our help had stolen a glance at her back. Our girl explained what she saw,and Benita said it was a lie and started crying. After much convincing and pampering, she removed her shirt. My people if you see the big wound and so many bruises on her body. Both fresh and old sores.Including cane and bite marks.in fact 90% of her body was covered in injuries and marks, including the injury on her cheeks near her eye that had ink on it,my Aunt had told us previously, the girl fell down.We started questioning her,a lot of shocking things i can't type here.My Aunt was so wicked and evil to this girl.

Most of the beating was mainly because of her own children.E.g;not washing her first child's uniform well, the water was not hot/cold enough for cerelac.Including making her stay awake to fan her baby to sleep when there is no light. Not coming back soon enough from an errand, the girl has to run so fast even with heavy things,a second late will attract beatings.Forced to eat a spoilt fish that was buried on the ground, because she made the soup sour, when her husband came home late and dished from the soup e.t.c.She sleeps at 12am and awake at 3:30am.And she dares not be awake when aunty has woken up including saturdays and sundays. We were all in shock.

My mum didn't wait for my Aunt to come back from the trip.called her to start coming, told her to take her kids and go,but Benita is not going with her, because she has called her mother to come for her and she is on her way.I have never seen my mother so angry like that. When the girl's mother came,my mum made sure my Aunt and her husband pay every penny of hospital bills to treat the girl and get rid of her scars. That case caused a big family issues.Pastors and family elders were involved.Benita stayed with us for 3 years after that, before her mother came for her because she gave birth to her 11th child and needed help at home.

Few years later, they say Karma is not real, that is a big fat lie.Because i know the Karma Aunty is facing now,as a result of that incident. She didn't know walls have ears ,neighbours took note and everyone was observing.I don't want to mention what it is here.Someone might decode her.

  2. This is one topic that makes me always ask the question of why do some women enjoy treating children who are not theirs badly?

I detest it a lot! If you're here doing such to those in your care cos you didn't give birth to them, please repent and tell God to fill your heart with pure love for others cos you never know where your children will be tomorrow. Only God can see it, you can't!

  3. Some house helps are devilish,no matter how nice you are to them, they'll never appreciate..the last two I had were very ungrateful...
I Thank God for this recent one,she knows what to do at the right time and she's a very good girl. I too play my part in making her comfortable and well taken care off. I don't believe in mistreating househelps to instill fear in them..to what end exactly?..
I do my best in treating others especially house help nicely.

  4. While I was in Benue, there was this woman close to me. She had this small girl in her house. Doesn't go to school, always in tattered clothes, and was overworked. Looking at her, you'd know she's suffering, and she hardly smiles. The woman's husband would beat her at every provocation.

Never knew she was even the woman's late sister's daughter. Like, the day I found out I was very surprised. How can you fold your hands and allow your niece to be treated like an animal?

I made the woman my friend and decided to talk to her. Told her to always stand up for the child as she's the only person she has. My happiness was that she listened. She later confided in me, that sometimes he beats her too when she steps in.

Before I left, she registered the girl in school, bought her new clothes and started pampering her. 😁😁😁

  5. I have a confession.

I sleep with my house help. Don’t want to make excuses for it. I have tried to stop but I can’t. My wife doesn’t even know. Moreover my house help is 24 and has a child that is 5. She lives with the child in my house and my kids play with her kid.

She is so caring and respectful to my wife that it’s impossible to suspect anything.

She gives me sex always while my wife gives all the excuses in the book.

It’s been bothering me that I need to confess.

Stella, please don’t get me started as I have seen the most wicked things being done to those maids and like you said, they treated their kids like egg and behaved badly that their kids is more closer to than them. Some of those kids get to see more of their maids than their own mother and cannot imagine why they will choose to treat the maids that they entrusted their children to. I was at an high scale hotel buffet one Sunday and this useless family cane with their children and maid and the maids sat through while the family was eating and they didn’t included her in the buffet meal. I was so angry and was close to going to tell them how to be a good human being but my sister stopped me against such. And you wanted this woman to be nice to your children and your family? Very inhuman and sad 😞

And their kids will call them the best mother in the world not knowing how dark and stoney their mothers heart are.

    8. She is a lonely londoner. The way she stresses Nigerian women, you would think she is from Pluto. Mind I know of many foreign women who maltreat their children, not to mention other people's. We have read some stories on this blog. Wickedness has no country, tribe or gender. You are putting the good Nigerian women to shame and smearing them unnecessarily by your generalization. You are always doing this when this topic is raised. Foreigners smear us enough and we need to try to change the unhealthy narrative some foreigners try to pin on us.

  11. Yes. My mother does not treat her househelp well. As a child during my growing up years with her, I witnessed her abuses, throwing knives, wooden paddle, anything within her reach at them. As her daughter, I too was not spared. I have marks all over my body. I am in my 40s now.I hated her then.

She kept changing domestic servants at quick succession and yet illtreats them. Now she is almost 80 yrs living all by herself cause no one wants to release any child to be with her. Not even relatives. No child of hers stays with her. I feel bad and pity her. But When she was in her 60s I suggested someone coming to stay to assist her she bluntly refused claiming the girl will finish her food. She can not treat any househelp well. They will look hungry cause mother will hide food and claim lack. Can't buy clothes, pants for them. I was in boarding school for 5 years and she never came on visiting days. I always felt sad on visiting days seeing other parents bring food to their children. She never bothered if I have started menstruation or needed bra, sanutary pad, pants as a teenager. So you can imagin domestic servants.
But she is now paying the price.

    1. If my mother in law is not careful, this will be her fate!

Her children always run away from her (she curses them and never agrees she's ever wrong)

Her maids are always scared whenever she's home(she gives them spoilt food to eat at times and some of them have this murderous looks on their eyes at times when looking at her), she beats them at the slightest provocation.

We the daughters-in-law are always scared of hearing her voice even when she calls.

She embarrasses her hubby in public...the list is endless!

  12. I stopped going to a friend's house because if the way she maltreats her help. The girl likes me alot and fond of me, but wtaching her dehumanizing the girl and her husband inclusive. Flogging her naked in her husband's presence and asking her if she's a virgin or not, I took off biko.

I needed to be sane for myself, my sister wasn't happy with me, said I should have stood up for her and maybe told her mum to come pick her,but I did the little I could for the girl. It saddens me anytime I remember the girl.

The helps that lived with my mum, came young and grew with us, they still come around, even my mum passed, one refused to go, she takes care of my dad (he's lost his sight) now and I opened a saloon for her. Although she steals sometimes but she's an amazing young girl.

  13. My neighbor next house have a girl(extended family)that her parents have 8 of them and she's the first born, the parents can't take care of them,so she took her and have been with them for 12yrs now she says! She brought the girl when she was 8 years old..this girl is grown now 20yrs,she does everything in the house, from chores to taking care of her Aunty's 4 children,to cooking ,to running errands while her Aunty galavant the whole neighborhood doing absolutely nothing

This girl will work from morning till night daily, without rest..the Aunty will beat her, deny her food for being forgetful sometimes..she complained the girl don't know anything regarding her academics and I replied her when she doesn't have time to read, how will she know anything?? Since this lockdown, the girl haven't opened anybook to read for once!

I noticed the girl has body odor last year,so I bought roll-on and body spray for her and told the Aunty that when it finished she should be buying for her,her reply was shocking 😱😱 she told me she didn't use roll-on when growing up so why should her girl be using roll-on?? I reminded her she has a female child of her own,so what happens when she's of age won't she buy for her? She told me her husband will be buying for the daughter when the time comes🙆🙆🙆

Infact I can't write all I have seen so far from this woman to this poor girl..I wish people can really give birth to kids they can train instead of giving them out to family members or outsider to train

She will give them the oldest of her soups. No egg and meat for them even if you fry it for her grown grandkids.
She will send you to her farm very early in the morning, monday to friday!!
If she is not at home you sit outside by the corridor and wait for her.
    What about her insults...
She was never satisfied with any help.
    She calls them thieves.
Abeg her matter too long joor!!!

  17. Some people are damned wicked. My neighbour has over 5 maids in less than 15 months. I don't know where she gets them ftom.
Late every night sometimes into 2am, you will hear her fighting with her maid. We can't sleep due to noise.
And they keep going away. She will bring another in and within a short time you will see another face. She is so lousy and dirty so are the maids too. One of the maids came into my apartment to beg for food. I was shocked. She told me she was going awsy as she couldn't stay again couple with rats taking over their house. The day.I made attempt to talk to her over the threat of incesssnt change of maids and rats running into a hole in her apartment, she said I should go report to CBN. I did not understand what she meant by that. Though I don't see her as an educated woman as she claims, I kept away fron her and we hardly talk.

Meanwhile, my maid who is 23 has been with me for 7 years now and we are like sisters. I am looking for office work for her. Covid 19 has messed up alot of things as I would have fixed her up in my organisation. She is a nice and decent girl and has her complete WASC Papers

God will punish all of you...and better miss me with your stupid “we’re helping their parents send them to school” excuses, if you really want to do charity they don’t need to be in your house for that.

I was talking with my ibo neighbour some weeks ago and I asked her why must a newly wedded ibo lady always go to their husband house with a helper especially little kids and she said it’s necessary o...that bc after marriage, pregnancy is the next thing and they need someone to be sending on errands and all that crap. She said when she got married she was given a 7 years old girl to go with but she sent the girl away reason being “she’s lazy”.
      Of course she’s lazy! She’s 7!!

She grew up with the kids. If you go to their house you wouldn't tell the difference. They would all be playing together. She got married from their house. They are all like family till now. Their story is good. It sad that it seems to be opposite for other helps.

  21. Last year I was ill and was around for more than supposed cos I had allergies from air pollution...
Well during one of my frequent visit to the hospital, I came across a little girl of 13 years with a big stitch behind her head on inquiry , i was informed by one of the nurses that she waa injured by her 'madame '.
Family members you'd not even guess why!!!
Her madame asked her to reheat the food she has previously cooked , the girl did and left the soup and stew side by side . Madame got infuriated and said the girl wanted the food to go sour by leaving them next to each other 😱😱😱
She hit the girl with a wooden chopping board behind her head, the girl bled so bad that the first hospital 🏥 rejected her cos they thought she would die .
Well however the injury was sutured the 'madame' made a deposit at the hospital and told the girl to work at the hospital to pay the balance.
Hmm i was so hurt and infuriated, I informed my family and they decided to take it up,
The girl then opened up to me telling me her madame had beaten her to the point she could no longer hear with her right ear , she treks to and fro, while her kids were driven to school.
We got the woman arrested , the woman started pleading and blaming the devil , also reminding me i was a woman like her, I said madame this girl too is a young woman like us and this is why you must be arraigned and prosecuted.
Well we rescued the girl from her and my parents were willing to take care of her but her elder sister decided to milk the situation by trying to extort my family while damning her sister's future .
It's quite painful even as I type this cos I wonder if that girl is doing okay , her sister wanted us to give them money instead of rehabilitating the younger sister while making sure she pursues her dreams .
Some women are very wicked and evil, God forbid I mistreat another woman's child.

Lots of people thought she was my child bcoz we resemble. I did everything for her but men... I suffered in her hands. is it lying even when I catch her red-handed she will lie. Is it stealing up to the extent of stealing things in the school. Ahhhh this is the only girl I HV seen that can wash plates for 5hours. But the highest of all was molesting my 2year old son. Ahhhh I really saw weeen but thank God. Am managing

  27. My father travelled about 5years ago and returned with his Uncle's daughter to Lagos to help her further her education since he was told she was in Ss3 already and men were coming for her hand, distracting her.
Her father was a good man and was so so good to my mother when she married into the family, so we all agreed easily since the father was a good Man

That was a mistake we are yet to recover
For over 40yrs, my parents are married, This is the first time a third party is staying in our house, I didn't grow up to see anyone living with us, they can stay but not live in.
First she no know anything, d Ss3 thing was Scam!!.
She lies a lot, In fact my parents started fighting at their old age, imagine. It took my siblings to call them to order not to let their marriage crash for a young girl
Ohhh she steals, caught molesting my nephew once.

You may ask what is she still doing in our house??
    She's learning tailor for 4yrs + and can't sew a shirt self.
Whenever they plan to return her, my father would be sick and unable to travel that week
If you beat her,You go sick seriously.
My Elder siblings have agreed by December she must go and we are strategically praying and watching out
    We are just waiting patiently
My father regrets helping, even my mum regrets more.
Imagine she has her room to herself with toilet & bathroom. We stopped her from doing ANY chores for about 3yrs +
Just wake, eat, go to her work place, return 9pm,bathe eat and sleep.

For me, I don't know I doubt if I would ever let a third party in my home after this experience

  28. Hmmm, see comments oh. And na all these women dey shout domestic violence up and down when their husband applies necessary force to untangle himself from their claw of his shirt collar, whenever they're pocess by their OGBANJE, and he decides to just leave the house for her but, NO! As far as she's concern, he must sit his ass down and take whatever insults she gives, which includes but not limited to, nagging, squeezing of his shirt collar and shouting you must kill me today, holding him on his belt buckle and telling him he is not a man, comparing him with all the other men in the neighborhood, slapping and kicking him and challenging him to fight back, accusing him of sleeping with the housemaid or female relatives in the house whenever he stands up for them or decides to be nice to them.

But still, I blame the men more who have become women in their homes and can't put their foot on ground and get their home in order, or send her parking.. irresponsible men that don't have a say in the home cos they are comfortable with the wife being the bread winner. Weak sissy men forming Mr understanding and Wokeness. Will Smith tendencies.

    Blessings

  30. During my undergraduate days in sch, I had a landlady whose sister's daughter (13yrs) was living with her. She subjected this girl to slavery.

This girl wakes up as early as 4am to start preparing her aunt's kids for school - heat water for them to bath, prepare their meals, clean the house and cook for madam which must be done before 6am she then takes the kids to school. This my landlady doesn't even see her kids before they go to school because this girl would have done all the necessary things needed and take them to school. She is always the last to sleep in the house say 12-1am.

Overtime, I noticed she doesn't sit with them to eat at the dinning neither does she eat when they do, she eats the leftover without meat or fish but her own children (age 5 and 3yrs) eat with big fish/meat in their food attimes I wonder if they can finish it.

Everyday they must eat boiled eggs and this girl dares not eat from it same with their beverages. If she forgets to boil eggs for them she is in trouble for that day. She is always in the kitchen cooking and multitasking to do other house chores.

The day this girl started her menses she went to meet madam for pad, she chased her out that she should never expect her to use her money to buy sanitary pad for her. So this girl comes to me or my neighbor who is a nurse and we give her pad (of which madam must not know) I gave her clothes and shoes, madam used side eyes to accept cos I asked for permission before giving the girl (she likes people to think she is a good woman so she pretends alot only those close to her knows her true nature).

Anytime visitors comes to their house that's when this woman will be complaining in their presence that see ooo I bought body cream for this girl she won't use, she how her body is white, I bought this and that for her she won't use ( they are all lies)

I remember the girl asking me if I could use a razor blade to cut her hair cos madam went give her money for barbing saloon. It was one of our Americana neighbors we call him big daddy that used his clipper to barb her hair.

This woman doesn't allow the girl speak to her parents or she sends the girl on an errand when her mum comes.

She can wake up midnight and start beating the girl at any slightest provocation. I can't count how many times this girl has ran (jumped the fence) at midnight from the house due to excessive beatings. Her parents will end up bringing her back (they are separated) her father works as a driver while her mother wants to do the baby girl life without any child disturbing her.

There was a time this girl fell sick and couldn't do much house chores madam was furious didn't give her food to eat. When madam went out the next day still did not give her food the girl came to me and I gave her food most times she comes to me to ask for garri to take to sch (she collects it in her pocket) which I give her with little money to buy something.

So I gave her food that day and madam's kids saw her eating the food they reported to their mum when she came back all hell let loose. She finished this girl with beatings and was ranting up and down the house.
    To be contd...

    1. Why some women like treating other peoples children bad is something I will never understand no matter what!!,you have the option of returning the child if he/she falls below your expectations, but why do you have to maltreat them and make them suffer, why?!some people are just wicked no matter how we look at it,but what I believe strongly is that it may actually take long, but nemesis will catch up on whoever inflicts pain unjustly on another persons child.

    2. Contd...

Suffering was an understatement in this girl's case.

When the the whole drama was too much and unbearable, I called her father (she once used my phone to call him) I asked if he has sold her to this woman bcos I see no reason why they abandoned their daughter here despite that she kept running to them. I threatened him that I was going to involve the police if he doesn't come to take her - if it's garri you can afford drink it together and be happy.

P.S her parents are separated - father is a truck driver, mother is living the baby girl life hence, she doesn't want any child living with her.

Her father eventually came and took her but at the long run landlady knew I was the one that called him,she issued me quit notice and I gladly left her house even though my rent was still running.

She was a terror to us (the tenants) I was the only student living in that house others were married/working class.

She burnt the clothes and shoes I gave the girl after she left.

P.S her husband wasn't always around when she does all these,he works in another state and comes home once in a month.

To cut the long story short sha, I saw the girl a year later on her way from sch - her school wasn't far from the town I was schooling, she was so happy that she jumped at me on the bike😀😀😀. I was so happy to see her dressed well and looking good.

Iya Emma wicked woman to the core #tueh# to think that she is the leader of the children department in her church.

The others woke up one day and said they were leaving not knowing na man dey worry them...they got pregnant shortly after. The last one refused to leave and she automatically became a sister cos she literally grew up in our house until her true colors showed. Left my parents when they needed her...inflated prices of things when we send her to the market...insulted my late sis and my mum. When I heard what she did, I will call and she will act like she was the victim not until I went home and found out na she be villain sef. Anyways, when she wanted to leave, we allowed her to go and none of us gave her a dime. Even when my sis died she didn't even show up.
