I have a friend who married her hubby within 3 months of meeting.It turns out that the man was gay and was just looking for a surrogate to carry his child. They divorced after 2 years and are fighting for custody of their daughter as we speak. Don’t marry any man without getting to know him first, snoop on his phone, browsing history and amongst his family/friends. Don’t go and enter one chance because there is always something they are trying to hide, you just have to decide if you are comfortable with it or not.

DeleteVery risky! Me that married my own after six months still dey regret till today. Lots of things I didn't know about him. I remember the father telling us that six months was not enough time to know someone you want to spend forever with. He even asked if I was pregnant hence the rush. Omo I wish I listened to that old man and not let his son rush me. Well, God is still on the throne. There's no situation He can't turn around.

But if God says that's your spouse it surely would work out regardless of challenges that might come along the way .
My parents housekeeper told us of a lady that got married in our church some years ago apparently her husband came to Nigeria for a wedding and saw her in church, after service he told her she was his wife and in a month from that day he was going to come back for her.
He actually did and they're still married .

ReplyDeleteOne of my best friends met her husband on the 24th of November and they were married exactly one month after. Her family members, especially her immediate older sister, were not happy. I was also worried, mainly because she has sickle cell.
ReplyDeleteGuess what? 15 years later, they are still together and, my own marriage is no more even though my ex and I courted for 3 years before getting married.
Another good friend of mine did not meet her husband until her wedding day. Her mum was behind the whole arrangement. They spoke on the phone all through, as she was based in the States and the guy in Nigeria.
They are still together and it's been close to 13 years now, and waxing stronger.
One other friend's husband literally told her on the day they met that he did not want any time wasting but wanted to marry her. He even paid for her Uni fees, as she started working straight after high school. She wasn't the brightest with school work, but he told her to study accounting so he could help her out with her assignments as he was a chartered accountant.

DeleteI used to like this type of story until my sister who got engaged after 2 weeks dating and married after 3 months. 6years after with 2 kids shes mentally unstable. This man had too many evil hard characters he displayed in marriage, cheating, lies, abuse, she didn't confide in anyone cos my parent warned her. Its been hard for us all. This guy looked innocent to the world but a devil inside and very temperamental. Pls know your spouse well before marriage.

ReplyDeleteNice and interesting comments. Its different for every couple but in today's world I hope she paid for a thorough background check on the guy and vice versa. In the course of hiring, I have met very good people with a felony in their background. There was one really impressive candidate a couple of years back, My mind was made up to extend an offer, references said nothing negative but the background check company came back with a shocker! He had been convicted TWICE of felony armed robbery in a different state and paroled. Nice outfits can hide anything but hand tattoos so folks wear long sleeve and jacket till they start and the dragon on their neck doesn't fit the corporate culture. Two weeks seems too short to make a lifetime decision but good luck to them! I taught my Adult children to conduct background checks on dates before going out with anybody. It is that serious!
