I am a very bad writer but I'll do my best. So, October 19th 2019 I got married to the best man in the world. Before now, I had always wanted to have a child immediately after marriage. So you can imagine my anxiety after waiting 3 months for a baby lol


I eventually took in and it turned out to be smoothest pregnancy, or so I thought. 

During the first trimester, I started have "mild" high blood pressure of about 140/90 and was placed on some meds. My doctor kept assuring me that its common with most first pregnancies and I should rest.


My husband, God bless him, took over all the house chores. Second trimester was the smoothest and I thought my scare was over.

Then, at about 31wks, I went for my antenatal and that was my first major scare. My bp had shot up to 160/120. The worse thing is that I'll feel very normal. No signs or symptoms. Those Nigerian movies emergency scene happened with doctors asking me to lie down and rest. I was asked to travel asap (I had earlier told them I'll deliver in warri where my mum resides)


I got to warri, pregnancy was about 33wks and I kept delaying because I wanted to at least get to 36wks of gestation. I was already familiar with preeclampsia. At this point, there was already protein 2+ in my urine, my urine was as foamy as a water with a detergent in it.


At 33 weeks+ I went to the hospital very casually to complain. Bp was checked, 160/120 again. After upping my dosages. Immediately the doctor told me "madam you'll be having a cs. We'll keep you monitored for some days before the procedure". And they kept giving me drugs and drips and everything... Bp shot up to 190/130, protein 3+. At 34wks. I was asked to carry out a scan. Scan showed my baby to be 31wks, weighing 1.7kg!


They explained that the blood pressure was shrinking my baby instead of him to grow bigger and very soon, fetal heartbeat would stop. I was referred to another teaching hospital because of the lack of incubators.


We, my mum, my sisters and I, went to another hospital. Doctor said I could deliver vaginally cos my bp magically went down to 140/80. I was so confused that I agreed and a drug was inserted. My mum started crying, begging me to go for the initial plan of cs.

 Another doctor called me to the side and advised I went for the cs as vagina delivery would further weaken the already weak baby. So I braced myself. Bp was checked at this point. 200/100. I was taken to the theater and before I was knocked out, I kept seeing my bp shuffle between 180 and 200.

Baby was taken out and he weighed 1.5kg! My son cried, he cried! So I was told the next day and he miraculously didn't need any incubators. I wept! I am weeping even now because I don't think I deserve this miracle. We stayed for one week waiting for "problems" to come up but he stayed strong for me.


This is quite lengthy but I want everyone to help me thank God who found an unworthy me worthy of this miracle. And know that preeclampsia is very real.
