ONE CHANCE NEIGHBOUR

Good day Stella and my fellow BV's,

my heart is heavy and it's tearing me apart, looks can be very deceptive, don't be quick to believe a quiet person, so this is what happened, I woke up on Monday beautiful morning, went to my shop to display my goods, I met this huge crowd outside, it was around 11am or so, I enquired to know about the unusual crowd but then a young woman in her early 40's was brought out of a tricycle with about four other women guarding her seriously...

I looked closely and it was the lady that borrowed 20k from me, she said she had a huge supply of her chin-chin and will give me back the next day, I collected this money from my Aajo (daily contribution) and gave to her, I even told her that I had done a lot of expenses from my savings, including recoiling my compound pumping machine that was spoiled by my "I pass my neighbor generator" and that the money was meant for my business extension, she screamed "Chaiiii eiyaaah, don't worry when this money comes, I will dash you something to cover up some of your expenses".... Mumu meeee!!!

I didn't know that I was dealing with a crook, she took the money and vanished, days passed I didn't see her, I didn't ask her "supposed siblings" because she warned me never to ask them, today a lot of people gathered and she has been borrowing from them, she sold her father's house here in Lagos for just 4million naira to sniff cocaine, she got hooked to the powder on her quest to burn fat, she was told that such burns fat very QUICKLY, she used every means possible to steal money, she lied to some, transferred from the whole family she's staying with..

Did I tell you that she's just a mere squatter, she collected from people that runs POS with same story she used on me, she made the woman she's living with to stand as a guarantor for her to collect from LAPO, the whole money amounts to about five point something million naira, I have been crying since yesterday morning..

Her parents were called, they're in the village, her Mom is down with stroke, her Dad is diabetic, the father said we should kill her that he doesn't care and she's their only child, the woman that owns the house angrily chased us out of her house, LAPO arrested her on Monday evening with her guarantor, I don't know how to get my money, I don't understand Yoruba but I could hear them saying something like I should shut up and stop worrying because my money is the least....

I don't know what to do but I really need that money, it's my sweat, I struggled for it with a baby on my back, I seriously don't know what to do...

*Your money is gone..

HAPPINESS COLUMN

WHEN PEOPLE GO MISSING IN NIGERIA;DONT STOP SEARCHING OH

Omo eni ku da ju omo eni nu loo.

(I apologize to my Yoruba brethren, I don't know where all the 'ami' symbols are on this my phone)
But roughly translated....

Ones child is dead, is better than ones child is missing.

When I was growing up, an elderly woman with seven children, some grown and some of secondary school age lived in the same compound ,and the youngest girl was about my age so we became friends.

During the course of our friendship, we shared a lot of intimate personal and family stories, and one of them was about what happened to their dad.

One of those days, while we were discussing about our parents, and the kind of wives and mothers we would like to be, also, the kind of husbands we would like to be married to (day dreaming sef, about the handsome, six packs, very comfortable young man.. Chaiii ohhhh), I asked her how their dad was died, because that is what they told everyone.

She told me that she didn't know, I was shocked, meaning what? like how will you not know? were you a baby? But you are older than two other boys, how, what, why,....... I asked her a lot of questions.....
And she went ahead to narrate the shocking tale of how their father left home one morning, few years ago, and never returned...... My young mouth hung open.

Did he quarrel with your mom, had he one time threatened to leave, was he depressed, were they rich and he was kidnapped, and killed????
(mind you, many of the vices and evil of this day were not rampant then, if not I would have played out more scenarios and asked more plausible questions, but it's the ones we knew about that I asked)
But, she said no to all the questions, and told me more of the mystery......

Their dad loved the whole seven of them so much and was even begging their mom for more children but the mama was tired of the plenty children, and refused. He was always looking forward to coming home after work, in other words, theirs was a tight, close knitted family.
He woke up that morning, they had morning devotion, he blessed them, and hugged the younger ones as usual, promising to buy them goodies while returning, but alas, he never returned. There was no Stone, I repeat no Stone, that they did not turn, in their search for him. You can imagine the kind of damage it did to their family.

Down to the reasons for this my long narration....

It now made sense to me why anytime we went to purchase something or were returning from school, and we passed Maryland roundabout /flyover (na our route be that), she will always be looking around, peeping into faces of even.... mad and destitute men, and if I asked her why she was doing that, she will tell me that I will not understand.....

Ehennn, no wonder ohhhh, chaiii....

After she told me this story, she was no longer restricted in her search for her missing father, sometimes, she will call out to any homeless person, one day she even told me to join her in calling one destitute man that we saw under the bridge, and we were up the bridge. She begged me that if I joined her, that our voices will loud enough, and if he is the one, he will answer and they will go home together, be a complete family again, their joy will be complete, and........ so many lofty dreams, that l can't remember again... You just needed to see the pain, longing, hope in her eyes.....

My God... what a memory.....(who is cutting onions now ehn)

So, we called, called and screamed his name at the top of our tiny girly voices and young lungs but sadly.... no response, we held our tears, (because people were already wondering what was wrong with these girls, and giving us side eyes ),went home, held each other and cried our eyes out.

So, In the face of these very sad memories of mine, It is a great worry to me, of the fact that our LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, will pick up people's relatives, that left home with the intention of returning, lock them up, and refuse to allow them notify their families for days, weeks, months and even years.

I am in great fear of this issue. So every day, I call my brothers to make sure they are home safe and sound. If I hear from their wives, that they are not home, and they have not heard from them....

Heyyy....my blood pressure goes up immediately, panic sets in, I will begin to call all their colleagues oh, and my husband will just be looking at me... Shaking his head.

Which one concern me, I don't care how you see me, it's not my fault, blame Nigerian police, SARS, and the rest of them. I am allergic to stories that touch the heart oh, because there will be no heart to touch if something bad happens, GOD FORBID BAD THING, AMEN.

A family found out that their son that had been lost for the past 5 years had been in prison all this while. He had been moved from Lagos, to Minna, back to Lagos, just for being coming back late due to traffic. The family had searched, gone to mortuaries, checked accident records, spent so much, the parents developed various ailments, the entire family a shadow of their former self, while wondering and searching for their lost loved one.

Thank God for prison ministry, (this is why I am an advocate for operational and working NGOS, and citizens doing there bit, and will like to participate of one) the young man was able to slip the mother's phone number to the Pastor, who called the mother, and the rest as they say is history.

They got back their child and in the process (with anger inclusive), helped in freeing 5 other incarcerated young men, that were there for no just cause, and their families knew nothing of their whereabouts too.

Stories abound, but I will stop here, and end with my staring quote...

Omo eni ku da ju omo eni nu loo....

Na wah oh...this is really scary to even think...In the beginning it will not even cross your mind to check prisons....how will you check and where will you check....Na Baba God dey save people for naija

He's been running his mouth any how, insulting Pastors (I'm no worshipper of pastors and I strongly disagree with what Oyedepo said).

Remember yesterday i posted about keeping a clean mind , no cuss no ill thought
I was doing well until i got home and learnt how a 'Family Friend wife" dropped her two kids with my mum at home who was sick
Like what!! My mum had to cut her hair, lost weight and still recovering and hasn't gone back to her store yet
You dropped your kids that they are disturbing you at home and went to your house to sleep
She has made it an habit to drop the kids every weekend that she wants to sleep
They bathe and eat at our place some days
The girl is 3 and the boy is 2yrs old. I dont just like how she takes my parents for granted at all
From 6:30am till 7pm they are at place every weekday and you cant hold them knowing this woman that helps you FREELY is sick
I was angry and said words, I still scolded my mother for tolerating that
But mummy likes Kids and to her was exercise

My Mum apologized and i apologized for being angry
I just hope she wont repeat the same today and go sleep in her house

    What if I go broke???

I think I need to stop living my life like I am still that ikorodu teacher that can never buy anything expensive for myself no matter how much I have because I always worry, something will happen in my house and they would need money and we would have no one to ask. So I keep my money all the time for that.
