Favourite Instrument...

Mothers of these days do not use these things to reset the brain of their children but back in the days, when your mother catches you to discipline you with any of  these things,it is between you and God to pray that you survive the beating.....

My mums fave was the brain resetter...........chai!!!

    1. I was an only child and never really experienced those hot beatings. I had play mates their mother uses broom if her cane broke. They were about 7 children so I guess had to cope b4 they drive her nuts.

  6. None... my mom can shout for Africa but she won't beat you. At some point she even got tired of yelling and was reporting our gragra to my dad, her threat was "Let your father return". He's the disciplinarian.

  9. My mom used cane
But it was my dad that was a specialist in discipline.
As for these days, the social media moms do not even have time for their kids.
A teacher flogs them at school, they go
to school to fight the teacher and threaten her. They are glued to their
phones 24/7, chatting, texting, gossiping and hunting for abroad
    🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐

You always look for holes where there are none.
Did I say that men should not discipline their kids?
In fact, if you've been reading my comments right from my
stories about my courtship days, I did say that my husband is
the main disciplinarian in the house. I learn from him.
Please, stop this gender war, I am not part of it.

  12. I am a mother now, and I don't use any of those.
    I cut you off from every entertainment;
    tv, phones, laptops, tablets etc.
I ground you and give you things to
read to lean to be obedient. No snacks, ice creams etc. Just eat food and enter your room.
If it is a mild offence, you kneel in the toilet for an hour. They beg me to flog them and let them be but
I refuse, I make the calls not them.
That works for me very well. I learnt those from my husband.
I receive accolades of how beautifully behaved my kids are
    at school and so on.
"spare the rod and spoil the child
doesn't mean you must break the child's head"

    1. I prefer this method too. It achieves the correction you aim at while not abusing the child nor striping them of their dignity. Homes that can't afford children's room to ground them in or ice-cream and treats...how them wan do? The parents will just vent their frustrations on the children.

    3. My mode of operation sister. As a child, i was beaten most esp by my mum, with all sorts, i have my child now, and i cant do quarter of what my mum did to me to my own kid. Till now sef, my mother is not my friend.. evry body dey their dey. Spare d road and destroy the child is what we practice here in nigeria. How many people here are really close to their parents like you can tell them just anything? After some terrible beatings as a kid? We for meee, make my parents dey their dey, excessive beating is bad for family bond.

Hmm, for the first time you like what I wrote?
      😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮so what's the catch?
Let me warn you that if you do not teach your kids
about Jesus, this form of discipline won't work as much.
Jesus, Scriptures first, then discipline next.😘😘😘😘

  15. Lol.. Okay..
There use to be the 'pole' in our company, people thought it was just one of those poles used in tying rope for sun drying, but that was wrong .. it used to be a guava tree, it lost all its branches on the bodies of I and my cousin.. any small kid 'prank' like this.. mumsi will just pluck out a branch and use it to 'talk' to us😃..

I remember sitting back of of those days, after some serious 'communication' had taken place and began to observe the look of my mumsi, trying to see if we had any physical similarities between us cos I was doubting how she could be my mom and flog me so mercilessly like I was a kid from a concubine.. LOL..

    Those were the dayz..

Looking back when I got older, I understood she did her best by not sparing the rode, I was a stubborn.. I would have been a spoilt kid if she indulged me..

Now I'm very much coordinated.. and you'd be proud if I was your child😊 ..

    1. Lol, this comment really cracked me up. At one time I packed my bags and met my parents in the living room, told them I was fully ready to meet my real parents as I could not fathom how they (my parents) could flog me mercilessly like that.

  16. My mum's favorite was the garri turner and that was after we kept hiding her long cain. She will put the cain in the back of her blouse and be teasing you. Before you know it,she will just bring it out and design your body.

My first daughter I very rarely rarely beat her. If she just sees you change your face let alone hold cain, she will just start crying and making promises of change.
My second daughter, chai!!! Na she go even go find cain come give you to beat her. That girl be making me think of prayer and fasting for her head make she no grow up into a stubborn person

  22. My mum, she uses cain. Although, she never had to use it on me, but the numerous times she used it on my brothers left me in tears and fears.

My dad prefer talking and some other exercise punishment.

  23. My mom's own is not there, "Water Cane"
The woman who sold the Canes to my mom physically asked her one day, what she was doing with the Canes, because of how many she was buying.
This was because, we in the children's department always conspired to break them.

  24. Upon all the physical abuse, many turned out to be looters, politician thieves, wife bearers, house help beaters, cronies of looters, pretenders and some became good people. Research has shown that denying kids what they value is better at modifying behavior than beating them in anger. Spanking is to be mild and by 6 yrs needs stopped as it’s pointless.

Anger and whatever follows is a negative emotion and we can see the result of these parenting methods on our society. Asking a child to write 1 to 500 10 times, or “ I will not do it again” 500 times. withholding their electronic devices or toys till they “got” it May produce better results. At best have them hold their ears and bend and stand for tens of times, a form of forced exercise!

Beating out of anger which we went through didn’t change much, you just learnt to pretend when you hear the sound of your dad or mom’s car and hide your real self. Parenting is prayer and example. If it were by beating Nigeria will be like the Scandinavian countries where everybody is ok. To each his/her own.
