Labour Room Drama 294

Hi Stella and BVs,

Remember us, the 27 seconds man and wife?

2 months after we got married, I discovered I was expecting. It was both an exhilarating and terrifying experience, given that we just relocated and started new jobs. We were both thrilled but for some reason after getting used to the idea, I became cranky for no reason, I would snap at my husband, be very abrupt at work with co-workers, it was like I had a different personality. It got to a point, I asked my husband to leave our room for the guest room. Everything just irritated me.

With my second trimester, covid came and we were in the same space, I remember, my husband was in the living room and there was something funny that I'd just read on SDK, I can't remember the exact thing, I came to show him and I was laughing hysterically and I think I said something about how people name their kids after the cities they were conceived but in our case, it would be difficult because we were practically like rabbits after we got married, having s#x everywhere and anywhere.

Then my husband broke down in tears, and I realised we hadn't even kissed since I discovered that I was pregnant. I felt so bad, I didn't believe that I could hurt the person that I love the most so much. The thing is, he was so kind during all my craziness, he would cook, clean, go out of his way to get anything that I crave which is not easy given that we live at the end of the world. That day marked a turning point in our marriage, I apologised and realised how I could have ruined my marriage, well it was pregnancy hormones but still...

I became intentional about my love for him and our relationship and covid brought us closer together. I remember how he would soothe my anxiety about having a child in covid and all. We resumed intimacy and it was mind blowing. On the day of my delivery, I didn't even know I was in labour, during my check up, I was told the baby was big and I should consider CS or a forceps birth, so I was like CS is okay.

When I told my mum, you would think it was a death sentence, so I reviewed by birth plan with my ob/gyn and asked for an episiotomy. For some reason they don't like doing that but the forceps birth just looked too traumatic to me. Because of Covid, my mum or mum in love wouldn't be able to travel due to travel restrictions, they hadn't even applied for visa, I was wondering how to cope with a new baby and recovering from cs. I knew it would just be too much on my husband.

I woke up that morning and we had s#x, I went about my normal activities I didn't know I was in labour as the EDD was 3 weeks away and was scheduled for CS in 2 weeks. For some reason, I slept and when I woke up I wanted my husband which was around 5 PM. We had a s#x again, I always pee after s#x to avoid UTI and when I got to the toilet I eased my self, got up but before I could get to the bathroom door, there was like an explosion of water. I was thinking but I just peed, don't tell me I just peed all over my body.

I told my husband, he cleaned me up and cleaned up the place, by like 7 pm, I went to pee and wanted to wipe only to see the mucus plug on my toilet paper. Then I started panicking, thinking if it was labour. I just called my husband, told him to shave my pubic hair, showered changed and got my hospital bag. He was wondering and asking if I was okay, I called my ob/gyn but he was out of town and told me another doctor would meet me. I got there, the team was already reviewing and planning an emergency CS, they checked me and discovered that I was 9 cm dilated. This is a testimony because I had zero pain and didn't feel contraction.

There was pandemonium everywhere, my husband almost fainted, the team disagreed if I should try vagina birth since labour was too advanced, by the time I got to the delivery suite, I felt a pressure in my vagina and apparently the baby's head was almost out, with two small pushes, the baby came out. I had no tears and the baby weighed 8.5 lbs. My husband was dazed throughout the process, like how do you go from gisting and just having fun to a baby coming almost 4 weeks early.

I will do an omugwo chronicle and send the rest later because the omugwo has part 1 which was just me and hubby and my mum in love is coming soon. I can't wait for that woman, I am so excited.

Stella see how white my baby is with me black like charcoal
