Mrs Dee's Corner - Mad People And Their ALLEGED Spiritual Eyes...

Have you ever had a one on one with a mad person roaming the streets?

Growing up, most of us repeatedly heard the story of the aged mother who was saved from being used for rituals by her son through the psychic ability of a mad man who warned her not to eat the loaf of bread that would be presented to her as a gift. This story made most of us attach some sort of spiritual power to mad people who we see roaming on the streets.

There are also others who believe that any form of kindness extended to a mentally deranged person brings good fortune and I witnessed this first hand.

My mum was a 'mama put' food seller and even though she always sold up everything she cooked, they were mostly bought on credit by her customers and it was always difficult to have enough money to prepare for the next day's sale.

She however noticed that whenever she gave food to a mad person who begged for it, almost everyone who bought food would pay up and she would even make enough profit.

These instances happened so many times that she never turned down any mentally ill person that begged her for food, no matter how tight things were for her.

I still remember a particular one who made it a habit to beg daily for food and she would sit so close to us. I was very uncomfortable and scared but I didn't have the nerve to send her away. In order to avoid to a nasty confrontation that would likely go awry, I waited for the particular moment I knew she would show up, immediately I sighted her, I poured water all over the place she would sit. When she came and saw everywhere was wet, she would mumble something inaudible and leave.....

Impressed by my 'sense', I informed my mum about what I did ,but she was very cross with me and gave me the tongue lashing of a lifetime.

I felt so foolish and regretted my action.

Do some mad people really 'see' things, or are we so thirsty for spiritual insights that we attribute insanity to spirituality?

*Isnt that why some people are told they would be rich if they sleep with a mad woman?I think there is something with Mad people that brings good fortune cos i have heard a lotta stories like you too....

  3. One slapped my half caste friend and pulled her long hair when we were strolling. When asked he said all yellow women with long hair were mammy water. I found it hilarious but my friend wept like a baby. She said it was the hottest slap she had ever received and says so till date. Apparently he was in the habit of slapping fair girls.

    3. Ewoooo! One slap me too OOOoooh. While strolling down the road with my school mates and friends from the University. I saw stars. I cried and cried. I kept asking myself why? I was happily walking and gisting, the next thing came a slap. My Dad was so furious when he heard about it but he was in a different State. I am very fair and beautiful. I always make sure to keep a distance from a mad person now.

  4. I've heard a lot about this but I've never had any first hand experience. One memory I'll never forget was once a group of them were passing while I was wasting a bottle of fanta. I thought nobody had seen me but the leader did see me and he crossed to the other side of the road and admonished me saying why would I do such a thing because I have excess while they were hungry. The memory has stuck with me since. U believe I was 10 at the time or less.

I also often have this thought that just maybe mad people see the world exactly as it is and their brain can't often handle what they see, hear and feel thus, they speak gibberish and act the way they do.

It is however, worthy to note that most mad people in Nigeria can easily be treated and cared for because what they suffer from is schizophrenia, bipolar or other milder forms of mental illness that can easily be treated with the appropriate care.

  5. Yes o. When I was in University, my friend and I went to a prayer house. We were sitting at the reception waiting to see the pastor. Then we saw a lady bound with ropes, her mum and uncle were sitting with her. The lady was just saying all manner of rubbish and the mum will chastise her, the uncle held like a cane to put her in order. Next thing she called my name, she mentioned my hostel and some stuff about me. I was amazed because we have never met, my friend was telling me not to worry that probably because my name was a common Yoruba name, it might just be a coincidence. Still reeling from the shock, she called my friend's name, this my friend had an uncommon and unusual english name. That's when I knew that things like that are real.

    1. What is there in a demon inside the mad lady knowing your biodata? A demon is a spirit, do not forget. Spirits are not limited by time and distance. They can coordinate with your tempting spirits whom you do not see to know and say a lot about you. That is why people a so awed by spiritualist and medium's priests for nothing.

On this particular day,I was about to enter a bus that will take me to school, when this mad man came out of nowhere and told me not to enter the bus, because they're killers,I didn't listen and I was afraid of him..
Behold they were ritualist, how I survive that day still remains a misery to me...

That is how their eyes opened and they knew that d man dat has d borehole is an ogboni man.
And after that day, they didn't see d mad woman around there again and the man has to cut off d borehole in order not to be exposed.

    1. You has better advise your aunty not to let that man into her house but give him food from afar. From my work experience, when his madness peaks, the first person(s) he would turn against are those who are close to him. She had better protect her family.

  13. Very interesting topic Mrs Dee. I also think that some of them are possessed by demons..........
Some of them even prophecy and some can tell you your issues when of course you don't know them. I also think that some may be operating on another frequency or level of reality, such as seeing with the third eye.
    Life is a mystery.........

  15. I had an experience with a mad woman, I was about to leave Nigeria to school that week, she was bleeding(on her period), omg, she chased me on the streets, speaking a language I didn't understand, I was actually crying and screaming for help, until a street trader asked me to stand, the woman challenged her, then the mad woman spoke in yoruba, since I didn't understand yoruba, the trader interpreted to me, She said"Tell her not to leave Nigeria now, or she might come back in a body bag"I got so scared with that revelation.
As soon as the message was passed, she went her way, I ran home and told my mum everything, and we started praying and fasting,I didn't travel
that week, less than a week after that message,I fell ill and that illness almost took my life, Infact I was begging God to let me die, coz I was in so much pain and no diagnosis, the hospitals weren't seeing anything. It was only God that healed me, I lost one year, and moved the following year. I just thank God that woman.

  19. Oh Stella, I have a story how a mad man helped me secure a US Visa.

    May 1995

I was on queue at the Lagos Office of the U.S Embassy waiting for my turn to go in when a mad man came from nowhere and started lecturing people on how to avoid visa rejection.

I gathered from people on queue that the mad man was a regular visitor to the embassy (apparently many of the people on queue were repeat visa applicants).

I paid rapt attention to the mad guy and took a mental note of everything he said.

Interestingly when it was my turn to be interviewed, the interviewer just bursted into laughter. Why?

The mad man had taught me what to do. Just a little thing oh, the interviewer didn't ask me questions.

Years later, I did same thing to disarm an interviewer and got my request granted.

I muse at countless times the little 'trick' has helped me in dealing with people.

As I was walking with about three of my friends at Abak road, someone hit my buttocks so hard. I ran and turned it was a mad man, I was the only one he attacked. I noticed a mad man at the other side of the road where I was crossing to. He was looking directly at me. Next thing he started crossing over towards me.. I fainted in my mind..

He came towards me and stop a little distance from me still starring at me. Next thing he went back into the road and stopped all them speeding cars and signalled me to cross.. Lol

People at the other side were wondering if we knew each other.. I just said thank you and moved on..
