US President -elect Joe Biden has appointed a Nigerian-American , Osaremen Okolo , as a member of his COVID - 19 Response Team.
He named Okolo , daughter of Nigerian immigrants as his COVID Policy Advisor.
“ Prior to joining the transition , Okolo served as Senior Health Policy Advisor to US Representative Jan Schakowsky of Illinois .she drafted , negotiated , and managed the Congresswoman's legislation , oversight , and policy across a comprehensive health care and public health agenda , most recently focusing almost exclusively on the COVID - 19 pandemic, ” the transition team said in a statement.
She had also served as Legislative Aide for Health Policy on the US Senate Committee on Health , Education , Labour , and Pensions for Ranking Member Patty Murray of Washington .
Okolo , whose parents are reportedly from Edo State , was born and raised in Massachusetts and graduated from Harvard College.
According to Biden and Vice President -elect Kamala Harris , the COVID -19 Response Team will “ work to quickly implement a comprehensive , whole- of -government COVID -19 response strategy to contain the pandemic, restore public trust , and protect all Americans ”
Biden , who takes office on January 20 , had also named Nigerian-born Adewale Adeyemo as the Deputy Treasury Secretary.

Congrats to her!!!
Do you want me to tell you all the truth?
ReplyDeleteI am a Nigerian-American myself. My kid is American -born and schooling in America.
these kids do not have any Nigerian antecedents or psyche. They are so different from all of you in the reasoning and thinking.
They do not pursue the vanities that most Nigerians pursue.
So you can go on rejoicing that "a Nigerian has been appointed."
But before you attack me, let me ask you one potent question;
"Barack was born of Kenyan father, thus a Kenyan" right?
You can fill the gaps. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's why we should all strive to be good citizens and useful to the society so that everyone will claim us. Who no like better thing? Kenya has a right to claim Obama, we too have a right to claim Anthony Joshua, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jidenna and any other Nigerian doing good. They are our father's Uncle's brother's sister lol. Same way we reject Hushpuppi and any other Nigerian doing bad. Foreign media does exactly the same. It's a good life lesson for us all. Be the good news from Nigeria.
DeleteJah bless you for this. Joe Biden win is seen as a win for the Irish. The British royal family acknowledges it's immediate German roots.
DeleteNo matter how remote, all relations glow in thier kith and kin success or achievement.
