  1. Tithing is biblical and i believe in tithing but nobody should constrain anybody to tithe, how or where to tithe. Malachi 3:10

    1. I used to tithe and give my first fruit yearly but since I relocated abroad, hmmmm. God have mercy.
I pay offering and have a standing monthly order for children in Africa who need help. I also send money to someone in Nigeria that appreciates small money (It's so pleasing to give someone little amount of money and they are extremely appreciative) asides that I help with cleaning church.
      God sees my heart 🤷🏾‍♀️.

  2. It was before and during the time of moses. However Jesus came and gave the ultimately tithe for us all. No other offering or tithe can be greater than what Christ gave. However if you feel the need to support the gospel of Christ so it can reach the ends of the earth through your giving by any means, its not a bad thing.

I give all the time but I know its just to support the gospel of Christ nothing more.

  4. #MyPersonalTake

Christ numerous lessons and commands as seen in the new testament did not specifically instruct us to pay tithes. However, by faith, believers can key into the lessons of Abraham & Jacob who gave a tenth to Melchizedek (the former) & to God (the latter).

Notwithstanding, we have been commanded to support those who preach the Gospel. If you're giving, please GIVE GENEROUSLY for your reward is from God Almighty and not from man.

  5. Tithing was a part of the law of Moses. When Jesus died for our sins, he ended that law along with its traditions which include animal sacrifices, the priesthood from Levi along with the Tithes which was meant to support to Priests and Levites as they were not allowed to have any other work except the work at the tabernacle or temple. (Numbers 18:24, Ephesians 2:15)

The Christian law teaches giving without compulsion, giving what you have resolved in YOUR heart as God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7)

The tithing practised today is man made, established by the so called men of God, made compulsory by them.

They use the money to enrich the themselves and use Mal 3:10 to force or intimidate their followers to pay the tithe.

If only you Christians took your time to study your bibles, you'll know that Mal 3:10 applied to the insraelites at the time of prophet Malachi. They were no longer paying tithes, forcing the priests and Levites to abandon their work at the temple to go and work outside for their families, so God directed Malachi to correct them.

The law of the Christ, which is the law Christians are to follow says to give freely, not under compulsion which is the very opposite of Tithing done today.

If you're giving,it should be from your heart, not because your pastor told you God will withhold His blessings. God can read hearts and will know when your giving is just routine and not from your heart.

    1. @13:42
Did you read JESUS' OWN WORDS in Mathew 23:23 that TITHES SHOULD NOT BE NEGLECTED?
If you did, you won't have wasted time typing all these.

    3. @14:21, remember that Jesus hadn't died yet. At the time he was born and throughout his life, the religion was still Judaism. Hence, still give to ceasar what belongs to Caesar. It was his death that gave birth to Christianity. His death fulfilled the law. (Not an expert though but I've heard this line of argument)

    4. Anon 14:21 did you notice the people Jesus was addressing in that passage? He was talking to the scribes and the Pharisees who were bent on following the law thinking that was the way that will lead them to the Father. He told them since you want to obey the law,pay your tithe but don't forget the other parts of the law. If you want to go by the law then don't do one and leave the other.

    5. @anon 14:21, you're the one who should study your Bible. But I, people like you wouldn't like to hear the truth because it doesn't benefit them

What you give to "Ceaser"(the government) are Taxes. What you give to God (the creator) are tithes.

As y'all have decided tithe is not necessary oya do not pay taxes too...sebi Jesus death has abolished give unt Ceasars what is Ceasars and God what is God...lol..Thank God , God ain't man and he is ever merciful

  6. Tithing is not man-made. There were specific practical reasons why God thought it necessary to put in that law in place:
    - the Levites didn’t have a share of land
    - there was the need to have food in the house of God for widows and orphans.
Is this still relevant now? Not verbatim but:
    - Funds are needed to run the church and it’s evangelical activities
    - Funds are needed to run the churches’ charitable activities
    - Where the Priest/Pastor is a full time evangelical, they eat from the offerings brought to house of worship
    - and the list goes on. Bottom line, the church needs funds to continue in its evangelical mission.
Do I think there is a curse on whoever doesn’t pay the tithe? No. Because those specific reasons that existed as at when tithing was instituted no longer exist today. None can claim to be a Levite with no share of land or other resources, and I challenge you to show me the church that CONSISTENTLY throws its doors open to the widow and orphans for their sustenance.
What we have are people who want the funds but not the responsibility.
In summary, if you want to give your tithe, know the reason why you are doing so. Don’t be yoked by fear of ‘a curse on your finances’, that’s a lie. Give because you want to support the running of the house where you worship, if there a laudable projects carried out by your church, give to support. Give to show appreciation of the work of evangelists, but never because of fear.
And I encourage you to ensure you are sowing on fertile soil. If you look at your church and feel they don’t deserve your tithe, move.

    3. Interesting, if you look at your church and feel they don't deserve your church move on??? Attitude of wicked church members. Pastors pray for you and you get money and the church and pastor doesn't deserve it?
      Smh

      Delete
    4. @Unknown, and you are sure I got the money BECAUSE the Pastor prayed for me? You guys are the ones that make people call Christians ‘sheeple’. I pray to my God and he hears me. I don’t depend on the prayers of any Pastor, I don’t even have any on speed dial. If you can’t breathe without your Pastor’s spiritual backing, by all means, give most of your earnings to him.
And yes, a pastor that is worldly and materialistic is not deserving of my own tithe and I will leave the church to a better place.

  7. Yes, tithing is biblical. But who should receive it is the real question:

DEUT. 14:28“At the end of every third year, bring the entire tithe of that year’s harvest and store it in the nearest town. 29Give it to the Levites, who will receive no allotment of land among you, as well as to the foreigners living among you, the orphans, and the widows in your towns, so they can eat and be satisfied. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all your work.
DEUT. 26:12 When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.
    IT WAS PRACTICED IN THE NEW TESTAMENT; THE WIDOWS RECEIVED A DAILY DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD;

Acts 6:1 But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.
1 Timothy 5:9A widow who is put on the list for support must be a woman who is at least sixty years old and was faithful to her husband.c 10She must be well respected by everyone because of the good she has done. Has she brought up her children well? Has she been kind to strangers and served other believers humbly?d Has she helped those who are in trouble? Has she always been ready to do good?
DOES YOUR PASTOR/CHURCH HAVE A LIST OF WIDOWS THAT THEY SUPPORT OR IS HE EMBEZZLING THE TITHES?
    James 1:27(NIV)
27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

  8. It's in the bible. Part of the laws of the old testament.
Christ came and paid the ultimate price for all. Anyone that chooses to continue tithing is putting themselves back under the law, the worst part of the old testament laws is that fulfilling a part and failing in another makes ur whole effort futile.

  9. I pay my tithes very well to strangers (prisoners and street kids rehabilitation), widows, orphans, and some missionaries (who of course have no other means of livelihood); if you care to, you can read the scriptures; Deut. 14:28, 26:12, practiced in the NT; Acts 6:1-6, 1 Tim. 5:9, James 1:27. A lot of you will be surprised that I did not start my quotation from Malachi 3. the point is that "God's house has become as spiritual house (1 Pet. 2:5-9). By God's grace, I've taken many kids off the street, enabled widows begin small scale businesses, helped missionaries out of poverty etc. and I am not lacking in the blessings" from the Lord. I feel more fulfilled.

    2. Well done, so how would the church be maintained if every Christian pays their tithe on the streets?
How would the church hall be paid for, chairs, carpets, musical instruments, church buses and vans to transport people to and from the church etc. Just asking whose responsibilities these are, if everyone pays their tithes out their, as everyone thinks the pastor is embezzling their tithe?

  10. I think tithing is man made, Jacob started it (Gen 28:22) then as a vow unto God.
Mal 3:10- then in village church, we always made sure that there was food in the house of God at all times, foods like:tapioka, pawpaw, different kinds of fruits.
For me, my tithe will go to the motherless, the hungry and needy and not to enlarge pastors or churches that already have.....my opinion

  11. No one should feel guilty for not paying tithe, it is not biblical, pastors, Bishops and G.Os has brainwashed people to believe that if you don't pay your tithe, you will go to Hell, that is a lie from the pit of hell. Christ has paid the ultimate tithe on the cross of calvary. God does not spend Dollar, Euro, Naira in heaven. Tithe expired in the old testament, meanwhile the tithe refers to in the old testament talks about farm or Animal produce, not money. There is Absolutely nothing wrong in supporting the gospel, but don't be deceived by these sweet talking god of men.

  13. Few things to know about tithing. Your church will never mention this.
    1. You are supposed to eat your tithe.
    2. Tithe has never been money
    3. Tithe can be anything edible or drinkable
    4. Alcohol is an acceptable tithe.
    5. Tithe was never a monthly demand.

I don't have the time to go into the detailed scripture that backs this up. But anyone wey doubt, I go find time make I clear you.

  14. Abraham gave tithe to Melchizedek(Gen 14:20)
Abraham did not live under the law(old covenant)
Christians live under the same priesthood as Abraham
Jesus is a Priest in the Order of Melchizedek(Heb 5:6)

The popular tithe verse(Mal 3:10) is tithing under the law.
The priest hood is Aaron not Melchizedek (which Jesus Christ belongs)

I think when they preach tithing from Mal 3:10...
they are out of order...tithing started before the law(old covenant)

  15. Tithing is a commandment, Malachi 3:10 KJV
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat h in mine house, and prove i me........
And concerning commandments, Jesu's said: (Matthew 5:17-19 KJV)
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. [18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. [19] Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Regarding tithing, Jesus said: (Luke) 11:42-43 KJV
But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment ah and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Jesus in the text above did not criticize the Pharisees for tithing, He only condemned them for leaving out the other equally important matters.
So, tithing is in the Bible but if you do not believe in it, do not pay it. Do not also discourage others who want to pay theirs.

    1. Those who chose not to tithe would not have the windows of heaven opened for them, they will not get a blessing and the devourer will not be rebuked for their sakes. Neither do they want their barns over flowing with oil

  16. Tithe is biblical, always amazed that some Christians choose their own way to obey God's word because they feel the pastor is embezzling their 10 percent. Do you really think your tithe and offering would make a pastor stinking rich, the way you think. There is only one way to get to heaven, I hope all these Christians devising their own means of paying tithe would eventually exist their own ways of going to heaven.
As well as giving to the orphans, widows and less privileged, the church is paid for, the air conditioning needs fuel, the electricity in church is paid for, the comfortable chairs are paid, the carpeted or marble floors are paid for, the keyboard, piano, guitar, trumpet, saxophone are paid for and maintained with money, all the good lighting are decorations are paid for with money, church van, bus and staff are paid for with money, yet Christians think pastors embezzle their tithe when they wear a nice suit and drive a nice car. Shame on Christians. Other religions take care of their leaders and only the church openly mock their own. Money would fall from heaven to build the church.
Most of these pastors have their own businesses to help them feed their families

    1. Unknown 21:20 please TITHING WON'T TAKE YOU TO HEAVEN.
SALVATION IN CHRIST JESUS IS THE WAY TO HEAVEN!!!

You can give freewill offering to support your church. Buy the saxophone, set of drums, pay maintenance for church building upkeep. There are many things to give your offering to support church and evangelism.

Go read 1 Corinthians 13, if you like give everything you have and your body to be burnt, without the love of Christ in your heart towards others, YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A CLANGING CYMBAL.

Jesus Christ commended the widow who gave her mite which was all she had.
That was all she had so that means she had not been tithing. She simply gave her all ONCE as an offering from her heart.
GOD looks at the heart not ROUTINE RITUALS like the HYPOCRITICAL PHARISEES of Matt 23:23 that Jesus Christ berated sharply.
THEY TITHE even the littlest herbs and spices BUT ARE WICKED to "the least of the brethren."

Some Nigerian routine tithers are as WICKED as the Pharisees and Scribes of Matt 23:23. They do all manner of evil and corrupt things to others and the least of Nigerian masses from Monday to Friday in their places of work, business and schools.

They tithe from taking bribe, inflating invoices and contracts, aiding and abetting fraud, insider abuse etc.

  17. If Nigerians can easily for MMM and MBA Forex, what makes you think they cannot fall for tithes scam. It starts with people believing that everything in the Bible is the word of God. No! Some were letters written to other christiand to maintain decorum and order in the body of Christ. It is like the elders coming together to generate unofficial constitution. But Nigerians make it sound like God sat the writers down and dictated words that they wrote down. The early church leaders went through the Bible and excised some parts that they found unfavourable to their goals. Do all these moronic mouthbreathing church-goers know that?

  18. ANYTHING done WITHOUT FAITH IS SIN.

You can tithe by faith IF YOU CHOOSE but please, do not COMPEL others to tithe.

The only GUARANTEE of God's blessings IS the God loves us because of CHRIST. We are accepted in the beloved and blessed with EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING in the heavenly places IN CHRIST.

Tithing won't make you rich or poor. God promised us our daily bread as He feeds the sparrowsand clothes the lilies; just as Jesus taught us to pray. "give us this day our daily bread."
The Bible also said, "if we have food and raiment, let us therewith be content."

There are non-tithes that are way richer than tithers.

The aim of giving to God or people is not to become rich or richer but to be a blessing.
