Pastor Adeboye Cautions Over Nudity On The Social Media + Lists Things That Quench The Holy Spirit

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has spoken against nudity on social media.

On Friday, he said those who engage in such were chasing the Holy Spirit away.

He made reference to Bible verses to buttress his point and said what the flesh usually tells one to do are listed in Galatians 5:19-21.

“You must have earlier read in today’s Bible text. You think that you can view a few pictures or videos on social media where someone is almost nude and it is okay. You are quenching the Spirit”, he tweeted.

“That little window you give to indulge the flesh will strengthen it such that you would find yourself going back to those pictures/videos after that time. The Bible is very clear – don’t ever do anything that will quench the Spirit. Never!”

The cleric explained that there are some things that are not sins, but can strengthen the flesh to the point of eventually quenching the Spirit.

He cited not fasting (Psalm 35:13), not being able to abstain from sex even with your legally wedded spouse (1 Corinthians 7:5), not praying (Ephesians 6:18), not studying your Bible (Psalm 119:9-11) and not fellowshipping with the brethren (Hebrews 10:25).

Adeboye said Galatians 5:16 confirms it is necessary to always walk in the Spirit so that you will not fulfil the works of the flesh.
He noted that if people take a break from spiritual exercises, they will eventually fulfil the works of the flesh.

He quoted “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” of Amos 3:3″, and stressed: “There is no holiday in the spirit realm.”

he appealed to everyone to walk in the Spirit every day in order to attain God’s plan for their life.

“What are those things you do that quench the Spirit of God in you? List them and cut yourself off from them today”, the cleric advised.

    2. Anon 11:46, so you can't address an elderly man that's not related to you as daddy??

So, you haven't addressed anyone else except your biological father as daddy or paapa???

Let's stop the unnecessary drama over nothing...

    1. Sexual intercourse within the confines of marriage is one of the three basic rights of Man. Be that as it may, it is a fleshly act, though not sinful.

Abstaining from sexual act is necessary once in a while to control the reign of flesh; same as vigil or food fasting. It is a pointer to constitutional flaw if the believer is unable to control his/her urge for sex.

I learned the lesson in a practical way years ago when I was instructed to abstain from sex for a period. The reason given was: how long can you stay without it if you are away from your spouse?

I discovered my threshold that special fasting period, and have since taken a mental note of it.

    2. when you are fasting, you abstain from sex that period.

    3. Abstaining from sex during fasting period is not necessary for a 12 hour fasting period. If your last meal is taken between 6pm and 8pm, there is room for sex before midnight. The only exception is if there is a resolve by the couple or an instruction to abstain throughout the fasting period.

    5. Very correct. The Holy spirit reveals things to us before it happens, it was a very accurate topic relating to ungodly trend. The world is getting darker every day. Guys Jesus is coming soon, I pray we all make it to heaven by living right according to his word.

  7. The worse sin is taking the little the Poor have or make to accumulate millions to buy private jets, real estate and opulent life for you and your family. Many verses of the Bible say that, it shall be easier for the camel, a huge animal to get thru the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to get into the Kingdom of God. Sir, you and your family are so rich, you own private jets and ivy league schools the poor cannot afford. How about that for a reminisce Sir?

    1. Pastor Adeboye is already in God's Kingdom by faith in Christ. Every born again person is a member of God's Kingdom through regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

The statement of the Lord Jesus Christ, "it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" applies to people who refuse to believe in God before or after they become rich.

      1. Would a rich person see his/her need of help to overcome sin and lead a godly life on earth? Put another way: would a rich person seek or heed God's counsel to run his/her life?

      2. Would a rich person hope and trust God for divine healing when s/he can afford medical aid? It is not likely unless the sickness is without remedy.

The two examples above are practical ways by which the Kingdom of God (the will, the power, or God's influence are unattainable to the rich).

    2. Salma, there's no worse sin/least sin. All sins carry the same weight.

“There is no holiday in the spirit realm.”💯💯💯💯

Folks guard your heart with all diligence from the filth in the world especially on Social Media.

What you see (images) persist in the mind(memory) and filter into your spirit (heart).
Same goes for what you listen to (hear), it also creates a mental image (imagination) because humans think in pictures.

MY WATCH WORD from undergrad days is this scripture: Philipp 4:8
whatsoever things are true honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS.

  9. Open heaven of yesterday. So accurate with the on goings. Considering the fact that it had been long written. We do too much that things become very distasteful. You can wear a fitted dress, Jean, top and still do silhouette even though it's not every thing a person should jump on. Tenk yo! shebi you know what silhouette means?

  10. If I ever doubted that Open Heavens was divinely inspired of the Holy Spirit, yesterday’s devotional put paid to that doubt.
So apt considering what’s currently going on in the SM sphere and this isn’t the first time I’m noticing something like this.

    4. 19:13 if God is not interested in things human beings do what then is He interested in?

He created the world for mankind, gave His Son, Jesus Christ to redeem man from sin and He prepared a place in heaven for him.

Human beings must each give account to God for what they did with their lives on earth.

  14. Don't miss understand me guys I am not saying is right my point is whatever you do with your body is your business because when wahala comes calling be ready to answer and don't involve God when it happens. For the records though he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for something he did not like at all.
