IJEOMA'S GIST CORNER
 THE MISSING HUNTER

Sometime ago, a hunter was missing in the villa, he went hunting in the night and didn't return the next day.

At first his wife ignored hoping come he'll be back later but he didn't return and there was no phone to call. She raised alarm, called on his kinsmen who alerted the whole village.

All the men came out in their numbers both young and old with their matchets, old guns and sticks, grouped themselves and went into the bushes, farms and even the village streams, but for where, a whole day passed still they couldn't find him.

Continued their search the next day to no avail. That was when it dawned on them something was wrong somewhere. They went back to his wife who disclosed that her husband killed a strange animal sometime ago and how two strange looking snakes came into their living room to lay beside their sucking child😱.

That was when they knew that his missing wasn't ordinary and went out on 'findings'. I can still remember my Papa of blessed memory gisting us that if finally the hunter is found, he (the hunter) won't live longer (probably not the first time it was happening for him to know).

According to what Papa said when they came back from their 'findings', the hunter killed a strange animal/being and it was the animal's family that's holding him captive for killing one of them (wonders). They were told on what to do to 'appease' the animals/spirits and the exact spot to find him.

The men remobilized again and went to that spot and found him sitting under a tree with his hunting tools unable to talk. They carried him home and revived him.

After a while he narrated how he once killed a strange animal(confirming what his wife said) and how they've warned him severally to steer clear of their territory, but oga no gree o, stubbornly went there to hunt again and that's when they seized him ( clear case of bush meat catching the hunter).

According to him, when the men first went in search of him, he saw them and was even calling out and answering them as they called out his name but they couldn't hear nor see him even as they passed the tree he was sitting under, hmmmmm. But like Papa said, he didn't live long after the incident, and it didn't end there, one of his little kids, as he grew older started having an animal face, he's a big boy now, but his face always reminds people of his father's ordeal.

Papa said such incidents was common amongst village hunters. Recently remembered this incident and asked an older neighbour ( local woman like me) if some animals were prohibited from being hunted, she confirmed that killing certain animals or NURSING bush animals can lead to big tragedy or calamity to the hunter's family. I come dey ask, how person wan take know spirit/strange animal or bush animal wey dey breastfeed ni🤷‍♀️??

Wow, These Village stories are so Interesting...
The animal he killed, did they eat it or he sold it?
I have seen a lady that looked like a lion back then in Uniben.
Anytime she was coming my way, I would sense this chilling silence around her and see a half lion approaching.
The hair at the back of my head would stand but i never said anything.....Fear no let me talk...
A few other people saw what i saw but other people just saw a very beautiful babe.

Ijeoma, thanks for this gist

    4. Anon 14:40 my dear. Break the jinx. Always talk to him first, give him the impression that u want to pacify him then wen he softens stylishly tell him he owes u an apology. Make him apologize. Appeal to his heart. With time that malicious spirit would die. It's from his background and what he's used to. U can't continue the trend. Na u go suffer am. Imagine having to cook and clean up for someone who isn't treating u well

  5. Understanding your partners love language helps a lot and goes a long way in connecting both partners in a way that helps grow their love. You can't be giving gift to someone who prefers spending quality time with you and you expect a positive attitude. If you give a million gift to someone who wants quality time you are not connecting with the partner in the right way.

    Happy Valentine's day 🎁

    2. In advance to you too Anon...

I'm planning a surprise gift for my hubby this val do the first time in my 5 years marriage, I ordered for cake and customized pillow for him. It will be delivered on Sunday morning, it was a challenge to get someone do the delivery before my friend volunteered to do it before attending church with her family 💃💃💃💃💃💃he will be so shocked.

While I was still single, I use to spoil my man with gifts oo val o, birthday, I travel and return gift must follow but when I met my hubby he doesn't even fancy those things, you will even remind him of his own birthday sef 😂😂😂but I didn't stop the birthday thing though even my sil's have caught the bug now, I don't blame them anyway it was how they were raised, just their mum who struggled to raise them and see them through school so there was no excess to waste on birthday or the likes.

@Temitope, all I will say is that God should restore you back and bring you happiness. Just like my friends from the other side of the divide will say, "All sufferings are lessons." I hope this teaches others a lesson.
