IJEOMAS GIST CORNER
MEMO TO ALL PARENTS.

Good DAY beautiful people. Today i want to talk to our mothers. How close are you to your kids, especially your teenage girls and boys?.

I've been a children teacher since my teenage age and the things i hear these kids tell me is heartbreaking sometimes.

A deaconess in my church boldly gave a testimony of how her teenage daughter is the best, very studious and living morally whereas this same daughter of hers told me she has a boy friend, she was just 15 then. Another one told the congregation of how her daughter is always in her hostel studying where as this same girl that schools in Imo state spends her weekends here in PH in her boyfriend's house right under her nose without her knowledge.

But they talk to me about all these, sometimes i feel I'm not talking or correcting them enough. The worst part is the attitude of some mothers, some mothers don't know how to handle issues.

A teenager once confessed to me about her escapes (hope it's the right word), after talking with her i secretly told her mother who handled the issue without this teenager knowing i told her mum anything cos she confided in me.

This woman handled the matter maturely and motherly, she drew her daughter closer and it was even the girl that came back to me to say how her mum has become her bestie. But i can't even present any issue to some mothers cos of their attitudes.

Your daughter starts seeing her Period and instead of you as a mother to sit her down and school her, you start chanting how she'll get pregnant, haba. She's twenty minutes late from school and you start shouting assuming she went to visit a man, why?

How about the teens and toddlers. Some of them will do something wrong at their homes and will come confess to me in the Church or wherever they see me, why didn't you tell your mum?, because mummy will kill me. Spare the rod and spoil the child, but how do you go about this correction, do you unleash the quarrels you have with your spouses on these kids in the name of correction?.

A child came late to church on day and when i asked she said 'aunty IJ my daddy and mummy were fighting in the house, my daddy held my mummy in the throat saying he'll kill her' and this same man is a minister that climbs the pulpit to preach.

Another one said 'my daddy and mummy are always fighting in the house' and guess what, she's our pastor's youngest child, pastor and wife fighting and people always run to them for marriage counseling, if only they knew their innocent kid will spill.

Sometimes these parents run to me to ask if their children said anything to me cos of their closeness to me, and I'll tell the matured ones and spill nothing to the noisy ones that can't handle issues instead they'll worsen everything.

A mother ran to me and told me how her daughter called her 'wicked' and compares her with other mothers. I called this girl to my house and what she told me weakened my heart. The matter long. I know I'm not yet a mother, but please, dear mummies especially, draw these kids to yourselves, don't let them hear somethings from their peers cos they may be hearing the wrong things. How about the ones that have been raped but don't have the heart to tell cos of your attitudes.

Draw close to that teacher or friend that they are close to and your ears will be full. some of them lack love and peace at home and once a guy start showing them love, forget about it. 'Aunty IJ what should i do' is what i hear most times on the phones cos they're looking for someone to talk and confide in because mummy and daddy is so strict that they are afraid to talk to them. Why call your child ugly, why compare them with other kids, we all were born and bred in different environments, they can't all be the same.

Why love a particular child and even make it obvious, don't you know it causes sibling rivalry. Some of them are not fast learners like some of their peers, all they need is time, it doesn't warrant name calling 'coconut head', they may not be book worm, but they may be better in arts or others, all you need do as a parent is to help them discover what they're good at.

One in the name of trying to show example that he's a minister of God and wants his children to live an exemplary life, locked up her daughter in cell for three good days, this narrated what she went through to me and i wept for her, why. Why bring them to this world when you know you're not ready to be a parent, why fail in your parental responsibilities.

Do you call to ask how their day went, their studies and their weak points, is it so difficult to encourage them. Why don't you tell them that having the other gender as a friend is not bad, it won't JUST get them pregnant. Teach them sex education, tell them when to draw the line. Do you even know your children's friends, why shut them out when they try to air their opinions or tell you things.

Why make their home uncomfortable for them, my nephew called me on phone one day and said 'aunty IJ i want to come live with you, mummy and daddy are making this house uncomfortable for me, they're always quarreling and i don't like it'. There's time for everything, time to overlook, play, correct and spank. Beautiful day ahead people, pardon the typos

It is easy for you to send this memo but sometimes these parents try, the kids are just difficult..

BEATING PRESCRIPTION

Stellakoko how's you ?

The gist::

After a long busy day , i have finally returned home , of course no light , NEPA why ? For 2days now wetin we do una ? I had barely put off my clothes when i heard someone sobbing like a new born baby, amidst the tears i was hearing stupid boy , idiot , God will punish you , then the man voice comes up prostitute so because i can't buy you a phone yet you are sleeping around, where did you get this phone from ? The phone on the other hand was ringing continuously..

Kenneth : Gimme that phone
Grace : don't touch my phone
Kenneth : struggling to collect the phone from her
Grace: crying louder now

The boy succeeded in collecting the phone from her , and he picks the call , hello who is this , i could hear him answer , well this is her boyfriend, anything ? Gbam he ends the call, and the proper beating started , he flogged her mercilessly with a belt, as i could hear the sound , and all i could hear was shouts and screams, i wanted to go and intervene when the cries got louder, make person no go knack me belt join this one wey dey do me so , i sat back and listened from my room , my other 2 neighbors were not home , so the girl chop her beating belleful well well ..

After a while the beating stopped and i could hear footsteps of Kenneth storming out angrily , .. After some minutes of more cries i could hear the grace leaving as well. Oh good she has sense i thought, if them beat pikin finish she suppose know road go her mama house , lol. ..

The next day towards evening i was sweeping the corridor , when Kenneth passed and greeted me

me - eehn ehhn ehhn ehhn , no greet me o , nor just greet me , i dey hear your handwork yesterday well-done:

he laughed and passed me , i had gone inside my room, when i heard 2 people laughing heartily , no that cannot be the girl Kenneth was beating yesterday , she can't come back even if she will, not today i thought, to confirm my curiosity; i knocked on their door and Kenneth opened , oh aunty Vera, me Kenneth i am looking for my turning garri did i by any chance give you , i peeped into the room and on the bed was laying Grace with a lil piece of wrapper that barely covered her ..

He said No and i thanked him and walked away looking shocked .. E be like them prescribe beating give this girl abi na Juju ? It can't be ordinary eyes. lol

They gisted through the night and laughed out loud at what they say to each other.. Maybe this is how lovers do . lol
We have come to the end of this gbeborun o

Till i come yah way again ,I still remain your one and only.

  9. If you are an ardent e-reader,heavy phone/laptop user or always having migraine, insomnia, tears dropping from your eyes and much more due to constant use of your phone or Laptop, its probably due to the Blue light being emitted from your device while you are using it everyday..

Some get glasses to erase it while some dislike the use of Glasses;so they are stucked on using their device that way and it keeps getting worse..

If you don't want Glasses, then go to your store and download:

    1) Blue light filter or

    2) Twilight Blue light filter

I use both but the second has a lot of features in the free mode unlike the first..

For most latest Samsung;it comes with its own genuine version, just slide your screen from "up" downwards then check for "Blue light" and switch it on..

    Hope this helps someone..

@ChardeyAlade;its actually the "signature" which makes it a Nigerian Android version;would advice you save money and get another because it will still happen again after this(then pack up)..

Next time, check Brands of Android for maximum satisfaction like Samsung,Huawei,Xiaomi Redmi and Oppo..

@Hydrogen,I understand..mine was very bad years back and I was prescribed chloramphenicol eyedrop which I use once the itching starts..

My eye will just turn red like someone who took weed๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜‚ but no more since I got the app..

      @Salma,enjoy๐Ÿ˜Š

@Khaleesi;will check later because I use an Android.never knee it's not available there

@Dimplez;let me not raise your hope Ma;its permanent..you can only get an extra portable bluetooth speaker and use alongside if you need more volume..

HI @Black Slimzy,Stella Maris and Anon;do have a great time..

  12. Thank you for your write up @ IjeomaPH but I will agree with Stella on this one. It is easier to chastise parents when you are not yet one. Parenting is the hardest job to do right. Dealing with children with different personalities, how do you get the right mix. Also, children, especially teenagers are sooo difficult and it takes the grace of God to get through that stage successfully with them. We keep praying for wisdom and God's guidance upon them. We sef are human and cannot have the perfect manuscript.
As for pastors eh...hmm..their own level of domestically/physically abusing their wives is on another level and they will be climbing pulpit everyday. My very close aunt is currently married to one and he has been beating her for the over 20 years they have been married until a family member caught him in the act. Even the children knew and could not do anything. He has stopped now but abuses her emotionally and she has lost her self-esteem. Leaving is not an option cos she belongs to the old-generation thinkers. May God help us truly!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, parenting is not the hardest thing to do. When you decides to bring a child into the world, you get prepared for it. It’s the way we allow our children those little things that makes them to turn out the way they do. One lady posted recently that her dad indulges her so much she became spoilt while the mother will not. If parents join hands together, the children won’t go haywire.

      Delete
    2. Anon. I appreciate your comment. You’re right. But to an extent.

My mum is the typical Mum that I couldn’t have a relationship with. She and my dad used to fight wella when we were younger (mostly because my dad was always caught cheating or refused to provide for certain extra things). She was angry and tired almost always. She also had a Fulltime business that took most of her time. My dad was an office person. He was hardly around. When we were going to boarding school, she came to us, told us that if a boy or man touches us, we will be pregnant and she left. That was the only sex education we (I) got from her. I married a virgin and was never promiscuous. One of my younger sisters likes men pass herself.

Children are different and need parents attention differently. It’s just that (as a parent now), I also understand that it’s not quite easy for parents to be available 100% all the time. Today, my mum is like my best friend. I can tell her SOME things and get great advice from her. She’s still busy and will hang up my call for me but I love and appreciate her and I see how she does everything possible to ensure that My siblings and I are happy.

Basically, I don’t think some parents belonging to the last generation did their absolute best , but it could be that they didn’t know better. We of this generation know better and can make the change if we want to.

Thank you Ij. I have taken notes and will be better than my parents. Then I will leave the rest to godly upbringing and prayers.

Many things written up there is applicable to my life, also been a children's teacher in the church since I was a teenager. There's NOTHING I've not heard, some parents avoid me completely because out of guilt or shyness they feel I already know too much. After service they don't come for their kids, they avoid my eyeballs totally.

  21. Hello Everyone,
How una dey? Belated Happy Birthday to March Celebrants, Happy Birthday in advance to the remaining Celebrants.

I teach kids too and believe me, they can be a handful, especially teenagers. They often get on my nerves, I prefer the toddlers Biko.

    Kindess is beautiful, be kind.

    Finally, Jesus saves.

  22. Women and this beating thing, I don’t understand, really because I’ve dated more than three girls, and they tell me to beat them when they go wrong, another one wants me to spank her hard before and during love making, one baths with her four year old son, and I raised objection, she said I’m jealous, that it’s nothing, later when her friends told her it’s wrong, she said I should have slapped sense into her, it’s like I’ve been dating women who were not raised well, when I remember now, I become sad

  24. I've stopped chastising parents mostly because I'm now a mom and I saw how my parents tried to raise us the best way they could. We are 3 girls. My oldest sister ran away to live with a man, both my parents developed high blood pressure from the thought of her disappointment. And focused on my elder sister and I. Years after, my sister got pregnant for a married man and went to live with him, ignoring all pleas to deliver the baby and still wait for her own man.
I probably could've ended up like that but I couldn't bear to disappoint my parents. So it was a deliberate effort for me to be decent and try not to disappoint my parents.

The point is, most parents try their best but its so sad and unfortunate that their kids turn out the way they are. I teach too, and the kind of things kids do and expect to get away with are sometimes so annoying that you even wonder how they came up with that in the first place. If an outsider can be shocked at what kids do, imagine parents who sometimes break their backs to provide for them.

Parents are humans too and are not above mistakes. Lets take it easy with them.
