Pastor Laurie Idahosa Tenders Apology To Actor Pete Edochie After She Made A Comment That His Mother Was A Victim Of Rape

Hmmm you know the story right? If not read and see that she is apologizing after 'chooking' mouth in Pete Edochie's issue....

What do you think about His Post, her shocking response and now apology?

Her Apology...

I'm Pastor Laurie Idahosa, and I would like to render a sincere apology to chief Pete Edochie and his family for the comment I made on a post on Instagram. It was never intended to cause you any embarrassment or harm. infact when I realized that it could be interpreted differently from what I intended to communicate, I quickly deleted the post but unfortunately it was screen grabbed and it became a trending topic. I want to wish you well Sir, and wish your family well. My sincere apologies for any embarrassment it may have felt by my comment. God bless you''

ACTOR PETE EDOCHIE HAD POSTED ON INSTAGRAM

“My mother was not educated. She was not in love with my father. My father was almost 40 when his uncle told him it was time he got married. He told them to get a wife for him. My uncle went out to a neighboring village and told them the teacher wanted to get married. The women came out. He looked around and picked one and that was it.

He brought this 15-year-old who didn’t have the courage to look at my father. She gave him ten children and was still shy. Seven boys and three girls.”

PASTOR IDAHOSA RESPONSE WAS....

  1. She definitely said d truth. I don't know what's up with Papa Pete now, but I know that things should not be interpreted differently because of who is involved.

    1. She didn't say the truth!
      Where's Laurie from again?
How were things done 70 or 80 years ago where she's from?

Many of you just think with your 1990 mindset and assume or believe that's the only way to think.

    4. There's no iota of truth in what she posted. Marriages of our fathers were mainly arranged and the age difference is always a margin...

    5. It is good she apologised. I saw that response from her earlier and it was shocking to me. She is always all over instagram dropping comments. This will teach her to think before she types. Times were definitely different and wat happened then was obtainable at the time. Many of our ancestral mothers were married as teens.

    6. Calling it Rape is taking it too far,but gosh i can just imagine a 15yr old with a 40yr old man now....such marriage will definitely be frowned upon. Infact the man will be called pervert and rapist.
My granny got married at 19 while my Grandfather was 25....atleast they were close in age,and it was not arranged. They found themselves.

    7. She went too far.
What makes her think rape occured, what if the 15 year old actually liked the man.

Back then girls din't even want to get to age 20 without a spouse so she can't blame him.

I want to also let y'all know that this practice wasn't only peculiar to africans as some oyinbo people married at such age in the olden days.

They also asked who wanted to get married and the young girl came out so she wasn't forced into that marriage.

Why she brought rape into the discussion is what I do not and will never understand

Pete wasn't talking about rape I think he was talking about compatible over love when it comes to marriage.

    8. Saying rape might have been too far but thus is not about the time it happened. there was and is everything wrong with a 15 year old marrying a 40 year old...so because it was done then we should applaud that story. Rubbish no wonder he is very chauvinist in his comment. His father reigned like a god in their home. She owes him no apology cos nothing to learn from that story and l am sure he said that story to buttress one of those his sexist advice..nonsense

However, being a public figure, she should have used better words to pass her message! She sounded like all these keypad warriors πŸ˜‚. Internet children of anger πŸ˜‚!

Sir Pete, pls watch what you say however. Stop trying to use your respected status to force back patriarchy on us!

Mothers of old ENDURED marriage because they had no option.

NO HUMAN BEING enjoys maltreatment; including you sir!

Most of our grandmothers talked about those days with a sense of acceptance, some with sadness but very few, with excitement. Some were Lucky and ended up with decent and caring men. A lot were not and they put up with a lot of sh*t.

I know because I used to gist with my grandmother and lots of elderly Aunts while growing up.
A lot of them actually envy our "freedom" today as young women.

I know because I have asked!

And yes! Most of those child brides were RAPED with the permission of society back then.

  4. Back then, people married early! A lot of women got married at a very early age; I've met people that told me that their mother got married at the age of 14,15,16,17,18years old.

Even in Europe, in the US many women got married at a tender age! Most of the old women I've met in this part of the world that I reside in, got married at age 15-18.

Calling Pete Edochie father a rapist was crossing the line. People should be careful what they post online especially when it comes to issues that have to do with senior citizens and how they lived in the past.

If you ask most of the BVs forming woke on this blog when their mothers got married, shame and pride won't let most of them be honest with the truth.

My mum got married quite late, she was past her mid twenties but, that wasn't the norm back then. Her mother, a princess got married at the age of 17 and she's now in her 100s.

    Let's all be careful!!

Please, back then, many women in the West also married as young teenagers to older men.

Do you know that teenagers still get married in US till tomorrow and to older men?

Most of you anonymous always claiming to be smarter than smart itself.

You should read my comment to understand and try get it.

Moreover, She wasn't talking about age margin! If that was what she was talking about, she wouldn't have bring the rape talk into it.

I guess its very easy in your world to falsely accuse people of rape.

    3. The research done those days on prospective marriage couples is deeper than today's standards.

Infact, mental wellness is one of the most important confirmations required for marriage to be approved. Personal and Family character and history are dug deep into to find out the suitability of the couples. And some dug deeper spiritually.

I remember reading the story told by an Oba in a national newspaper. When he was to marry as a young man, he had the choice of four women. Then the
"traditional research" was done. As he was told about the women before he made his choice, so it became. He was told particularly the woman that would die Young, the one that would not bear children, etc. and he made his choice.

Please I am not advocate of such third party spiritual enquiries today but people who know how to do it personally still do it today

Of today's couples, how many know the family history of their prospective partners, or even know all their cousins one on one, or by names?

Not everything yesterday is bad. Not everything today is good.

  15. I'm glad the pastor apologized. I have been following Pete Edoche's shocking stories about women this and that, but now, I understand. Papa don old and to think his own father is his hero, then we are talking of 1900. Thank God Times have changed and Papa needs to get comfortable with the new normal.

My MIL and the Proprietress of my children's school are age mates and even from the same State. Whilst my MIL was a child bride with no education and left to work like a slave on her husband's farm, the Proprietress went to school, got an education up to PHD level, worked in various ministries before settling down to run her own chain of schools.
At 73, while one woman is waiting for State Govt to pay widows palliatives the other is making an impact within her community.
My MIL is beautiful, very agile and hard working, willing to learn, she went for adult education in her 50s.
She regrets not being sent to school.
The day she told me her story of how she was carried off to her husband's house at 14 years, I hated the man even though we never met. She also experienced them throwing twins away because they were said to be a taboo then. She is a victim of a failed society.

About 5 years ago, my SIL called me to ask if I allowed them mutilate my daughter's genetals. She was in the part of the country where such is a tradition. It was strange to me that a grown ass woman will not be able to open her mouth or stand her grounds on issues as touching her child.

  17. Thank you Fan you seem to be the only one making sense here.

Our ancestors killed twins in their ignorance. It took a Scottish woman to come here and fight to get it abolished. Will you say they did right?
It was still murder, ignorance or none.

A lot of those young girls were taught to accept traditions because they knew no better. Yes, they were actually raped.
Let us call a spade a spade.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Lets say civilization have not reached Nigeria, would those criticizing him for how they used to live their lives in those days be making such comments now? Majority of marriages then was arranged or selected. Its not now when people now choose wife for themselves and again women tend to marry at a very young age back then so why say his father raped her? People should learn to accept other peoples past and culture without clashing it with their own.

    1. It still does not make it right.

It was also some people's culture back then to kill twins and make widows drink water used in washing their dead husband's corpses. Does it make it right because it's their culture?

Left to people like you, we would still be killing twins because it's some people's "culture".

  21. her choice of words were probably far reaching, doesn't take away she had a valid point somehow. 22. Because under-age marriage then was the norm; does not make it right. And since Pete will be talking as if its better we go back to those days, Laurie would have maintained her stand! They were into child abuse and rape, and were enjoying it. That's why most of those older women (mother-in-laws etc)are bitter, venting out frustrations that culture heaped on them! By the way a minor has nothing with "consensual".

  23. Pete Edochie TALKED OUT OF ORDER! Why eulogize an outdated practice that demeaned the girl-child? He even used his own grandmother as if it's a thing of pride! 🀦‍♀️
*Onye kosia ka odi'a, umunna asor nya oyi.*

Pastor Laurie could also have expressed her opposing views without getting personal.

Pete Edochie, WOULD YOU GIVE OUT YOUR 15-YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER IN MARRIAGE TO A 40-YEAR OLD MAN TODAY❓

Pete Edochie is free to air his opinions but he should be mindful of the time we live in and his position in society. What message is he trying to pass on to the younger men?

Pastor Laurie should be slow to speak as admonished by the Bible.

Pete Edochie is an educated man but his views especially on women show that education had little or no impact on his mentality. He holds women in contempt.

Pete Edochie do you know those 15-year olds of your grandmother's era felt trapped, scared while enduring such early sexual experience and pregnancies.
Would they tell you, their sons and grandsons? No❗They would definitely recount them to their daughters and granddaughters.

In my mom's era, she said there was this girl that kept running back to her father's house at night for each of the 5 times she was given out in marriage to 5 different men.
Her father accepted her back each time and she eventually got married when she was older.

    Pete Edochie please, ENOUGH SAID.
