Actress Rita Dominic Tweets Her Response To Comments Trailing Interview She Granted Explaining Why She Is Still Single

Nollywood actress Rita Dominic's interview on why she is yet to marry caused sensation on Twitter and on the comment section of popular Blogs on Instagram...

She was slammed for saying she wanted to get it right at her age....The comments advised her to forget about getting it right and just do it

She had no choice but to Tweet them a response..

During the Interview Rita explained why she was yet to Marry with these words...

“I respect the institution of marriage as my parents were married till they died, and they had a beautiful relationship. The problem is at some point, it begins to annoy you because of how much importance people have placed on it. I do want to marry, and I want to get it right once and for all. You know, we make such a big deal of it; we force people and put pressure on them to go in. When they eventually rush into this union, they make mistakes because they were only trying to please people".

    2. Abeg rita I like you but you are getting absolutely boring. If you are not ready to get married that’s all good, then don’t go on air talking about it and showing off a man you’ve been with for decades.... sigh.... just boring now!!

  3. Why are Nigerians so obsessed with marriage, it’s disgusting at this point, God forbid. I guess misery loves company, most Nigerian marriages are miserable and people are offended seeing a single woman “past marriageable age” just living her best life and doing her thing and they want her to join their bondage lmao.

  5. Most Nigerians and marriage are 5 and 6.
I Knew what my eyes saw when I came home. Two married women fighting(verbally) because of one of them did not want to drive in so the other one can move past her The other one insisted the other woman should be the one to drive forward. So I met them during the rift. I did not even bother to drive into my building because I wanted be a peacemaker like Christ asked us to be. I just pleaded with one of them who looked quite gentle to please move so the other one can pass through. She felt I took sides with other woman and the next thing was her telling me to mind my business. To get back at me I think, She said two married women are talking and I thought I could interfere. I did not let it get to me and because they were really making noise I thought could calm down the other one but she said almost the same thing. She said I should leave them alone and went further to add, "we don't even know if she is married" while referring to me. I just let them be till the estate management came and dealt with their case. I was shocked because I had travelled far and wide and I had never experienced that before in other countries I had lived. In Nigeria, it is like they even look at your finger first to determine how they will address you. Ever since I got married the respect I get is alarming and nauseates me at the same time. Like! I had to be married to be treated like a human being. Like really?

    2. I'm married, and I hardly use my ring, and no one has ever disrespected me. I think it the way some single ladies dressed, dress responsibly and no one will disrespect you, either married or single

You’re on point. I’m still young and unmarried but I get treated with respect, sometimes to a servile degree which puts me off tbh.

Once they look at you, the car you drive, how you look and how you dress, they determine the level of respect they’d accord to you which is kinda sad thinking about it.

    4. 10:57, I thought so too. I know them and they know me but I keep to myself. I say hello and that's all.

10:58 I am always decently dressed and decently behaved. Do not wear skirt above the knee, do not expose arms, chest and shoulders kinda person. Also decently behaved, calm and easy-going. They were the loud ones. Mind you, I also look younger than my age and was living alone at the time.

Simply because you did not experience it, does not diminish my experience or mean I did something wrong. The disrespect in churches is a story for another day and I have met people who can relate and some who cannot relate(your category) and it is fine.

    5. And yet....feminist will not see this one and deal with it.

It's mostly women who degrade their fellow women and yet feminist heap the blame on men.

    6. So both of them started fighting you because you’re not married? I doubt this your wonderful gist

    7. It's not about the dressing alone. Sometimes carry stone face or "don't fuq with me" attitude and people will mind themselves around u

    8. No fan, anon didn't say that .She said she met them fighting n was trying to separate them when they made reference to her marriage status

    9. Snarker, I had two cars then. Lived alone in my 4 bedroom duplex. The only thing they had and I did not have at the time was husband and children. They knew because their house we're the closest to mine. So money wasn't the problem. Even when I go out without any car, Is like they are respecting the ring.

I and my married friend were called by our names in church suddenly this same person said to her, I am sorry, I forgot to add "sister" to your name, it skipped my mind that you are now married. Sorry I called you by your name. 😅

11:130, you needed to see the way the first one pointed at me ehn. Like we were fighting before.

      Okay, Our blog comedian fan.😘

11:52,😂😂 I wished I had gotten this advice then.

    10. @Snacker i have EXPERIENCED this many times before i got married. Is it during traffic dispute someone scratched my car and still called me ashawo, dat is it not a man like him dat bought me the car why am i shouting. And later said dats why im unmarried. I said "oga, u see dat thing you carried besides u as wife, look at her and look at me,i am 10times better. Or is it a stupid police dat told me to go get married, bcos i didnt want to clear out of his way as he was using one-way....different instances sef and most times i was coming either to or from work and dressed in a suit.
Once i got married i didnt get called olosho again, once they see the ring or see you with kids they give you respect or most they say is,i have ur type at home and blah blah. But no olosho calling. These are real issues, dat u havnt experienced it doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

This comment here is everything. I wish more people in the comment section will know this. You can't invalidate something just cos it never happened to you!

@10:37, hhahah it's your fault o. Duplex and 2 cars? Hian! In this part of the world, You can't be single and rich, or seemingly successful at the same time. Or else you threaten society, it's much to bear. Men will mock you and women will envy you. If single, you have to be pitiful, wear a look of misery and bemoan your fate. 😑

    15. Anon...you are very right. And i love you use * if you haven't experienced it do not diminish it*.. Dont go waving off something because it has never happened to you. It happens well well in this our Nigeria. Bed and roses has given plenty examples.

    16. 15:40 😂😂don't mind them oo. Their insult was a subtle way of reminding God Nah. Who knows maybe the was what made God to catapult my blessings to me quick sef. That is how people would think they are mocking you not knowing they are indirectly praying for you and reminding God on your behalf. Me I knew singlehood was not my fate so God forbid I looked miserable. I needed to look good and give out a positive aura so that when my husband shows up he would recognize me fast. I eventually got married at the age most Nigerian would call old but that one does not concern me because I married well in the end and that is the only thing that matters.

Thank you anon 16;45. Some may not be aware but a lot of Nigerian women would know what I am talking about.

  7. Response of laiive! Wehdon Ri✔. However, next time, simply refuse to answer relationship/marriage/man/sex questions. Tell them to focus on your career or fashion (you are the best-dressed Naija celeb as far as I'm concerned) or make dem go interview another person. They cannot reduce your whole achievement in life to just "wife material". You are so much more.
