Former Nigerian Governor's Daughter Reveals She Had 2 Abortions And Dealt With The Shame And Pain

Tito Idakula, daughter of Rashidi Ladoja, former Oyo State governor, disclosed on Twitter that she had two abortions and dealt with the shame for a long time.

Tito, who is married to singer, Bez Idakula, made the Tweet on Sunday...

''I’ve had 2 abortions. I was scared and wasn’t ready.
I took the only options I thought were available to me at the time.
And even in this age of pro choice, I am not personally proud of the choices I made. And I lived in shame and guilt for years.

It almost crippled me when I found myself fighting for the life of my daughter.
I couldn’t stop thinking: “I deserve this punishment. Now I’m ready, and God is finally ready to get me back”.
But then I didn’t understand the salvation and righteousness that I have in Christ.
That in his death and resurrection Jesus Christ, destroyed my shame and gave me a new name. A new beginning. A new identity. Even in the midst of my ‘sin’ and deepest shame, God couldn’t have punished me because that is what Christ took on when he chose that sacrifice.

In the stripes and death he took all my sin and in his resurrection he set me FREE. What GRACE! So undeserved. I mean, my husband and 3 babies are proof of God’s Grace! I thought: “I have to earn it”, this love, this mercy, this grace.

I thought: I must WORK for this righteousness. I must show that I deserve it. But nothing I did ever felt enough. Until one day I got it: “righteousness (right standing) is the gift of choosing Christ. It is nothing you can ever work for. With this comes freedom to be and to do!

You begin to know, that your works are just you walking in agreement with what God has already done.
I am here doing all that I do because nothing holds me back. No guilt, no condemnation, no shame! Christ took it all.

Today is EASTER SUNDAY! Christ rose today. He destroyed the power of death! He set us FREE! Stop punishing yourself, stop thinking it is by your works, stop judging others because quite frankly none of us deserve anything, Christ is the one who paid the price making us WORTHY & FREE!

If you are still burdened by the spirit of condemnation, open yourself to the gift of life from Christ. Accept his salvation today. Invite him into your heart. Release it all to him. He loves you so much, he died for you. HAPPY EASTER!''

  1. I knew this post would go viral. I follow Tito on ig and I love her. I’m not sure why she had to reveal this much. Maybe someone wanted to blackmail her because she shares in her relationship with God a lot (which is why I follow her) or maybe she felt led to post this. May God receive the glory in this. Amen.

    1. She wrote about it in her book a few years back so it was already public knowledge.

    2. is not new. She wrote about this before.

  2. She shoulda kept this one in the drafts. Judgmental and perfect Nigerians would not let her hear the last of it, they would not hesitate to bring up her past abortions to troll her. Oh well.

    2. I see your point but she doesn't need to reduce herself so that Judginas can be comfortable. By next week, they would have forgotten this message of grace and would be gossiping about someone else's golden life.

  3. From all the stories I read ,there is always regrets.
Those that had involved in it always live in fears.
Then why do they now do it and later regret??

    1. She is no longer living in fear o. That's why she is resharing this message. You have a lot to regret in your imperfect life as well. Pick the lesson and drop the magistrate wig.

    2. I did one before my first child and I never regretted nor lived in fear.
Done 5 after having 4 kids and I've never regretted it nor living in fear.
      It's all in your head.

  4. To each his/her own. To some, abortion is evil, to others it’s the only solution to rape, incest and other evils.

  7. There are some things you should just keep to yourself. Not because of shame because once you’ve asked for forgiveness and live right, the devil can’t shame you again for your mistakes. We are in Nigeria not some oyinbo country. There are ways to inspire people without revealing everything about yourself. You have children for goodness sake. Do you want them to be bullied in school for their mother’s decisions. You have a daughter, do you want your past dragged in her face. This out too much information over sharing generation sef. What exactly is the point behind this post gan gan.

    1. 1 in 3 women has an abortion. It’s time that we let people be free. No one is saying that it’s a good thing but if people can talk about it they can find healing and create a society where people don’t have to make such decisions in the first place

    2. Are you raising the kind of children that bully other children for their parent's testimonies? That punish children for their parent's forgiven past? Well, the God of grace is bigger than you. You will continue to peep from cupboard holes while she tells from the mountain what her own God has done for her.

Some things are better kept private.

  11. Abortion is not a sin. Any girl that aborts her pregnancy is just true to herself, don't want to bring a child she can't handle or hook pregnancy on a man that is either not ready. She must have done that to have peace and complete her education

    2. Abortion is anti-consequences, and should not be encouraged, at all.
We shouldn’t just depend on the ‘government’ and it’s policies to define our morality as a people, as you can see, they keep setting the bar lower and lower.
Abstain from sex if you are not ready for it’s consequences! At the very least, use some form of protection, let the fornication part be discussion for another day.

    3. Fornication is a sin, Abortion is a sin since you're not battling for your life why abort?

  12. Do not be so myopic! She's sharing her story and risking ridicule to help lift up souls for God. She is doing God's work in her own way.
People will read this and be convinced to use a condom, some will decide to brave the odds and kerp their current pregnancies and others to abstain sexually.
This is bringing down the veil and stigma over this taboo topic; discussing it more openly will ensure the younger generation do not have to tow the same path (see where she talked about available options).

    2. Thank younfor getting the point. The most fearful people I have met are Nigerian Christians. Most of the epistles in the Bible were written by a MURDERER of Christians. The second highest number was by a man who denied Christ and left him to be tortured and murdered, man who was racist for many years even as head of the church. Yet, see Christians pretending and acting like they were born perfect in a world of people desperate to know what they were saved from.

How can you be of Christ and be living in fear of your past, running from shame like a slave? Can anyone condemn he who God has blessed and qualified? What can any man do to you when you are hidden in Christ? Do you remember the woman Jesus met at the well? She was the first evangelist. Nothing, not her past or present could keep her away from telling of the saviour she had just met. But to knock someone over the head with Bible and to turn church to a second home, you will see people rushing to register. Na wa.

  15. Apostle Paul lead zealots to stone Stephen and kill many early Christian faithduls.

He told his story after His Salvation and conversion.
It's there for generations to read in the Bible.

Nobody has said Paul overshared or brought his dark past to the public.

  19. Life comes with huge choices at times. Some have to do an abortion others have to decide to take their child off life support, another may have to sleep with an ugly as sin and smelly man to get by, someone else will have to put an older child in a charity home. The crazy choices that many people will have to make never ends. If it's not one thing it's another. This life on this earth is not for the faint of heart.

My sister who has always been anti abortion found she had to terminate a pregnancy because the fetus was developing with abnormalities, some organs were not developing and other crucial things. She never thought that she would ever had to have an abortion herself because she always thought it was evil and what irresponsible women did. She being married and young thought all her pregnancies would end in a happy healthy baby. I learned from her experience to live life without judgment of others, because you will be put to the test in this life.

I felt many of the things Tito described about God finally punishing me for refusing to have the children he blessed me with. Reading her post helped me, I'm glad she's sharing
