Nigerian Passport Racketeers Busted In The U.S

Nigerian government, through its consul general in New York, Lot Egopija, says it has busted a ring of Nigerian passport racketeers in the U.S.

The consul general, who gave the assurance when he received the executive members of Egbe Omo Yoruba of Greater New York in his office, said a passport racketeering team based in Baltimore (Maryland) was apprehended.

''Baltimore is not within our jurisdiction; they will do processing over there, and they linked up with someone I term self-appointed Liaison who had his wings in the consulate.

“We have apprehended them and the staff that was compromised too, and we have assured Nigerians that you don’t need to know anyone. They can obtain services without additional incentive,” he said.

  1. You don’t need to know anyone yet to get Nigerian passport is only possible in a few cities. It’s a nightmare though it’s my excuse now for avoiding parties and functions after Covid19.

  2. Good job.

No more stress for Nigerians who need to renew their passport or obtain a fresh one for their children

We don't want any more damages done to our national passport with visa free and visa on arrival entry into 185 countries.

This new development will increase the number of visa free countries we can visit to 200.

Once again, well done to our consular in the United States.

    You guys rock.

    2. @Anonymous 12:20,

I think the anonymous @10:57 was mocking Nigeria with the comment about 185 countries visa free and visa on arrival access.

As at December 2020, our passport has visa free access to 25 countries along the West African coast and some countries in the Central African region. That number was a drop from 45 visa free and visa on arrival access we enjoyed up to January 2020.

It is getting worse as more countries have revoked their visa on arrival access to holders of Nigerian passport.

Read the information below for list of visa free countries for Nigerians (Year 2019).

Visa requirements for Nigerian citizens are administrative entry restrictions imposed by the authorities of other states on citizens of Nigeria.

As of 02 July 2019, Nigerian citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 45 countries and territories, ranking the Nigerian passport 98th in terms of travel freedom according to the Henley Passport Index.

Where visa-free access is permitted, such access is not necessarily a right, and admission is at the discretion of border enforcement officers. Visitors engaging in activities other than tourism, including unpaid work, may require a visa or work permit.

More Visa-Free Countries for Nigerian Passport Holders

Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Cook Islands.

Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti

       Liberia, Mali, Micronesia, Montserrat, Niger,

      Niue, Sierra Leone, Togo, Vanuatu,

      More Visa on Arrival Countries

Cambodia, Cape Verde, Comoros, Islands Ethiopia

       Iran, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mauritania,

       Mozambique, Palau, Islands Samoa,
