    1. A good suggestion and surprisingly coming from a Muslim from the north where "god will provide" is the slogan. But how will this even become a reality in a country where polygamy is legal? How do you limit a man to 2 or 3 children then permit him to marry 4 wives?

  10. It is everywhere in this Nigeria joor, stop pointing at the north alone.
We need this because they're so many people with little or nothing for themselves having plethora of children. There's a better in my work route that has 2 sets of triplets and is currently pregnant. Others end up having their hands fulls just because of a male child. Some others don't want kids but because of our society, they're forced to become parents and become awful at it too.
These things happen nationwide, let's stop pointing at the north alone. I've seen a man with 27 children who still wants more because according to him, he's trying to start a community. He's a driver and he's from the south.
Even many Christians will reject this bill because they will say it's God that gives children but they forget that having kids you can't adequately cater for is wickedness.
The only way I see this bill taking shape is if discrimination against the girl child becomes a punishable offence so that people will stop desperately looking for heirs to their fortress. A husband abandoned his wife in the hospital because she just gave birth to their 9th daughter after promising this one will be a boy. 9 pregnancies, 9 normal deliveries

    1. What is the ratio of having many children between the south and the north?

    3. @Zaram it's also high among igbos. Igbos will have plenty children then start distributing them among other family members.
I know plenty Muslims and even northerners with 4 or 5 kids only and 1 wife

    4. @Troy II, Oil dey your head. I was alive in this country in the 1980s when family planning was aggressively promoted under IBB.

Churches and religious organization were staunchly against it back then. It took the scare of hiv/aids for people to start using condoms.

Fortunately, the state of the economy has now taught us all the lesson that bus load of children isn't blessing if you have no means to care for them. Unless you wish your children to be the hewer of stones or drawer of water for others.

  11. If they make the law, let us start from them

  12. I agree with him.. the illiteracy all over the country concerning number of children is alarming. Tomorrow they'll blame the government for their predicaments. Smh

  13. Whosai? This won't see the light of day, especially, in Arewa territory for the next one hundred years. Even though, the necessity and urgency for family planning/population control stares Naija squarely in the face: resource control, economic development, capacity building, name it, all depends on this vital statistics.
