Hmmm....
I posted a chronicle early this year where l went to visit my sister in Gwagwalada and saw a small girl doing Mai ruwa (selling water in truck) to enable her make money and register WAEC. I followed BVs advice. Visited the girls school.
I was told she did not pay SS2 school fees nor attended SS2 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes so she is not eligible to register for WAEC in that school as it's a public school. All efforts to encourage her to go back to SS2 as l will pay the school fees for the three terms proved abortive . Her reason is that her mates are already in SS3 and her parents will not be able to register her for WAEC next year after SS2 I left her that day and went home.
Few days after her mum called me to say she saw a school in Kogi state where they agreed to allow her register for WAEC without doing SS2. You don't have money to pay your daughters school fees in your base. How in God's name will you register her in a school like 4 hours from your base. She will rent accommodation and eat throughout the exam period.
I tried to discourage her but their mind was made. I felt very angry and asked for her account number. Transferred the amount l intended to give them and have never gotten back to them again.
Never asked if she eventually registered for WAEC or not and they did not get back to me. I had to give them the money because I have already made up my mind to give her the money. We are of different tribe and region. I don't want them to see me as forcing my option on them because l want to give them a token.
Thank you BVs
*You should not have gotten angry.... Please try to find out what happened to the girl and if she took the exams or not, at least you would know if it was worth it.

my experience has taught me it is hard to help some people that is why we need wisdom even to give. I pray the money is really used for the exam.
ReplyDeleteThere are alot of private school she cn enroll to write d waec without the sss3 tin. I fear they did not register her. Moni go don waka.
DeleteMy dear I even told the mum to register her in a private school near them and she said Aunty l do not like private schools. Their weac result is not always good. Watin person no go hear. That woman's mentality pass me. Who am I to question her decision on her child. I have done my part. I left her with God and her conscience.
DeleteSome poor people are USERS.
DeleteThey bemoan the state of their finances but will stop @ nothing to defraud another.
Very wikid pipo. She may have used the cash for her own personal needs or to sort out immediate feeding issues, don't be surprised if that's exactly what she did.
God will reward you for your beautiful heart irrespective of her mothers real intentions
Poster you did your best. Even when you take a horse to a river you cannot force it to drink water.
DeleteThey want to do private center.
DeleteHow will she cope.
Ndi aggressive malpractice
Sometimes we give to people that are not worth it, but we do it cause of No 1 rule, "love your neighbour as yourself". Don't give up on the girl cause some parents are not serious about their children future.
DeleteYou’ve done your part dear.. May God reward you!
ReplyDeleteYou had and still have every right to be angry.
ReplyDeleteWhy jump class? You even offered to pay the fees, what else do they want?
They are ungrateful for not reaching out you.
Cos her mates are in SS3, she must register along with them.
May we not fail in our responsibilities/duties as parents.
I won't even be surprised to hear that they didn't use that money to pay any school fee. Na dem.
DeleteThey probably are already prepping her for marriage.
If she is from Kogi state, she has Probably registered in a school in her village. Which means no rent paying and feeding might not be a problem. Wish her all the best, i have seen many people that skip a class and still make WAEC especially NECO. One of my friends did secondary in four years and passed WAEC. He skipped jss 2 and ss 3 in two schools.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think she should ask. She has helped and that’s it. Sometimes you wonder why some folks remain where they are. You saw someone that wants to help you pay to start ss2 that you never attended but bcos your mate have left you behind, you want to start from ss3. How on earth will she pass the weac if she never attended ss2 where the bulk is being thought!!! Instead of the parents to have faith and encourage her to start from ss2 and believe God to provide for ss3 and weac, they took the money instead. Pls don’t check nor ask them. God bless you. You have given already so keep it going. Poverty is not all about not having money. It starts with the mind.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is on the fast lane!! No one wants to take gradual steps..From the story it shows the parents are behind this...Needless competition with others instead of yourself...When you repeat a class or retake a course does not mean you are a failure...But Nigerians aint ready for that conversation...Schools nowadays don't encourage repeating of class...

Delete@st elsewhere, you said it all. The fast lane of this generation eh, everyone wants everything sharp sharp. No patience, no learning. As someone said below, the parents probably don't care about her gaining the knowledge, just for it to be that she has written waec. Checklist crossed, dats all.
DeleteTaught*
DeleteI get your anger, but look at it from their own point of view, her parents prob ly just want her to be done with school, so she can continue making small money for the family through her mai ruwa or any other trade.
ReplyDeleteTheir own concern is for ger to say she has written waec, shikena.
For the.poster that said someone passed waec after four yrs of secondary school the candidate must have been having extra lessons, so as to cover the syllables. Cos I.donr know how you will write and pass an exam you didnt read for unless sha na expo
God bless you for paying for her waec.
ReplyDeleteShe's not comfortable with her mates being her senior but she's comfortable selling water while her mates are in school. Hmm, it is well o
ReplyDeleteMe too I wonder. Does it make sense? They done chop the money.
DeleteI doubt they used the money for the WAEC registration. Anyways, you've done your part. God bless you
ReplyDeletePoster move on, you have done your part. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteYou should just let it go, I don't think the girl and her mother are serious at all. Please next time do not give them the money but pay directly to the school.
ReplyDeleteDear poster, may God enrich your pocket and reward you handsomely. I think you did your own for God and do not need to reach out to find out if she wrote the exam or not.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you Plenty poster. We really have angels in our midst.
ReplyDeletePls disregard whatever they use the money to do ,don't even give yourself headache on their matter again since they have refused to learn.
Poster you have done your part
