INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD

When I was growing up almost everyone had large families and people with small family units were considered weird. Now things are different. Smaller family units are more common. Family planning has made this possible.

Family planning is the use of natural, hormonal or non hormonal methods to prevent pregnancy. Apart from abstinence, no female family planning method is hundred percent safe.

The major responsibility of keeping the family unit small rests on the woman’s shoulder most times. As if we don’t have enough to bear on our shoulders we still have to deal with the possible side effects of these contraceptives.

Some common named side effects of the contraceptives are toxic shock syndrome which can be fatal. Urinary tract infection as in the case of diaphragm, vaginal irritation, Increase in the rate of heart attack, high blood pressure, headaches, mood swings, weight gain, uterine perforation, vaginal dryness, uterine expulsion etc.

Now family planning available for the men include the use of condoms, temporary or permanent vasectomy, side effects non. My sisters no side effect!!.

Vasectomy in lay man’s term is when the tubes carrying sperms in the scrotum is blocked or cut of, it’s a minor procedure it’s very quick.
 Vasectomy is the surest form of birth control method and can be easily reversible too.

Yet we don’t have a lot of awareness for this method. The average Nigerian man would even say “ God forbid" to this method. How I wish our men will take this route.

Since we get the shorter end of the stick when we do not prevent or plan pregnancy, we have no choice. We move!!!

Toxic shock syndrome is associated with the use of Tampons, I know this very well because I had it when i was using Tampons and that was the reason I stopped.

Men will never agree to the Vasectomy way ,same way most women will not agree to take off their wombs..... It cuts both ways. If you as a woman does not protect yourself, nah you go born tire......

PINKYS CORNER

WHEN CHILDHOOD BEATING COMES BACK TO HAUNT OUR PARENTS

Some days ago, I was feeling feverish, so I had to visit the hospital for general check up and also for test, got the result and agreed on being treated, not quite long, mum called but my voice was down. Then she asked what was wrong, told her I was so down and also having ear problem.(truly I was feeling pain inside my ear and she was the one who slapped me when I was in secondary school those days which since then has been a problem).


Told her I will call her back when I get home and explain how far have gone about my health and stuff like that. Got home some minutes to 7pm that same day and I made her feel extremely guilty for an undeserved beating I once received as a kid. Our own "Phone" talk was more cathartic than I expected.


I simply told her my doctor told me I am steadily, but gradually going deaf in my right ear and slightly blind in my left eye. When the Doctor further perused if I ever had a traumatic experience in the past that may have caused the problems - "I told him the truth"


"Remember that day you gave me one ìgbàtí, and as I tried to run, you doubled down and loaded up on another Ìgbájú?" My ear has been ringing and my eye has been starry ever since. The pains, the symptoms have always been there, I was only afraid of expressing them to you. You know you preached hard against telling lies?"
"Bẹẹni!" She said emphatically but pitifully.

She's guilty! I am loving it! But pretending I am hard of hearing in one ear and losing my sight in one eye is harder than I ever imagined. She told me to place the phone on that same ear and she was yelling into that one ear and said she will come toy place this weekend and she has been calling me every day since then and to make matter worse, someone called me to come receive the beverages mum sent to me through her. 

In short, mo ti yà ìyá Bisi ni wèrè! I will milk this glory for a while because I know she will come this weekend to check on me.
