DeleteI was 12 when my neighbour's house went up in flames, they ran out in confused
state and didn't know what to do cause ordinary water was not helping out.
My mum quickly dashed to get omo detergent(fire extinguisher got finished),mixed it in several buckets which my siblings and I carried to my dad who climbed a ladder, sat on the fence and was throwing the water from there. Other passers-by quickly joined in, taking water mixed with omo from our compound to quench the fire. Omo got finished and some kiosks owners went to their kiosk to get more . We were able to put out the fire before the arrival of fire fighters .
Note the combined effort of passers-by (who were total strangers), the kiosk (owners who didn't collect a penny for their detergent).
I sustained a deep cut on my thigh but was happy that my neighbour didn't lose their house.
Most Nigerians re kind hearted and would do anything to help their neighbours in need, so please don't say such is impossible in Nigeria. We even help ourselves more than the oyibos do help themselves.
