INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD

I didn’t get to see my first dentist until I was in my late teens and I was there because I had issues with my teeth that had generated so bad. The same thing happened with my siblings they didn’t get to see a dentist until they had to remove a bad tooth.

Growing up I read in books that a lot of people visited the dentist regularly but it was never a thing for us and quiet unheard of in my neighbourhood. In Nigeria as a whole the importance of paediatric dentistry and constant visits to a paediatric dentist is not emphasized enough.

Till my kids had issues with their teeth I didn’t also know the importance, kids should see a dentist at least twice a year for proper washing and care for the teeth.

Teaching about how to brush properly checking for issues that when caught early can prevent other issues in the future. Proper care of each child seats is not just about preventing future diseases, it can also boost a child self confidence because dental issues such as mouth odour, bad dentition can affect a child’s self esteem.

When I was looking for a good dentist for my kids, I went online and one particular one struck my fancy. On their website, they had a lot of things to say about paediatric dentistry and they sounded like they knew what they were doing. I was scared though but I decided to give it a try.

I didn’t want a place were we would be ripped off and would have to also deal with incompetent hands. So off we went to Ikeja, Lagos and my experience was beyond my expectations.

We were attended to by a team of four women and they are the most pleasant people I have met in a while, not only did they know what they were doing. They were extremely patient and kind to my kids, who were scared silly and a handful.

They were patient with me and answered my one million and one questions without even as much as a side glance ( I can ask questions ooo). I am glad I chose them and guess what they are extremely affordable.

I hate reading about anything teeth..... Kai that pain!

NEW COLUMN ALERT!!!!!

SISI SENAPONI'S COLUMN

MARRIED WOMAN VERSUS SINGLE LADY

I hail una o...how una dey today?

Na market I dey, wey two young ladies begin fight. One comot the other one wig, Fiam! That one land on top Meat seller head! Eleeee!

The next sound na slap, Towai!! Towai!!

Na wetin hapun?! Make una separate them biko!

Some people just tanda dia dey look film! One man talk say na women dey fight, say no be vawulence! Make we leave dem!

I say na wetin hapun?! Make una no break una heads o! Nne, na two hefty men way dey offload flour from inside big van come separate these two ladies!

Dem carry the single lady enter Mama Nedu shop, carry the married one enter Pharmacy as she don chop beating no be small! Na blood full her mouth, wig don disappear!. Na there I notice say she even wear wedding ring.

Na there Chemist begin ask wetin hapun? she no gree talk.
Na I'm we leave her there for pharmacy go meet the other one inside Mama Nedu shop.

Na so Single lady begin narrate how she meet one man 3months earlier, dem begin date. Say the man dey married before but he don dey separated due to irreconcilable difference, abi na how dem dey talk am?!

Stella, abeg no laff me biko. English dey cut teeth sometimes abeg...lols

Single lady say, na one day she go her man house unannounced, wey she see the other married girl wey wear only bra and trouser comot from inside him bedroom!

Single lady say before that time, her man no dey ever do anyhow or give any sign of anything. She notice say he begin act distant and cold. He tell her say he bin sick but make she no disturb herself to visit. She say even the unannounced visit sef, na to carry Afang soup go give am, because she be Calabar girl and he be Yoruba man wey like her native soup.

Single lady say, na so she ask her man from door quietly say,who be the girl wey wear wedding ring, ordinary bra and trouser wey the zipper sef open and person fit see the pant under?

Man talk say na heat too much wey she comot blouse, say she just come greet am briefly. Say dem be good friends from way back.

Single lady say she noticed the married lady act shocked to see her for the door and quickly comot from man bedroom, go tanda for balcony without greeting her or saying anything.

Single lady say she kukuma drop the Afang soup for sitting room and vex go downstairs to carry uber comot.

Na so man begin beg her say make she no vex go house. Say he begin tremble like person wey guilty for something. He promise her say he no go allow such happen again (Bra matter), say the married lady come with the husband but he comot briefly and dey just dey discuss as friends.

Single lady go back upstairs with man inside him bedroom and the married lady still tanda for balcony.
Na like 30minutes later, married lady come knock bedroom door with her husband and simply talk 'Alright Goodnight', even do seductive eye wink for man wey single lady 'catch' from inside mirror. And the married lady comot the house like say nothing happen.

Three days later, na so man begin give single lady attitude o. He no gree pick her call, he no dey reply message. He go say he no dey house if she wan go visit. He no talk if he wan break up or any thing. How she wan even take know as he no even give her audience?

Na im single lady turn FBI agent begin monitor Man come see say na with this married lady he dey spend time.

Man no call or buy single lady anything for Valentine but he throw small party for him house, wey he no invite single lady but married lady and her 'mumu' husband and friends from man workplace attend the party.

She see evidence for another persin whatsapp status. She say as she try message Man, make dem meet to even discuss wetin happen, na so man block her for every platform. He even tell him Mallam for house, make he no gree her enter him compound again!

Single lady say the day wey she even go man house to ask exactly wetin she do?!. After all, she no kukuma confront the married lady or create any scenes for compound.

She say man tell her say he no want her again! Say make she comot, say na him pikin wey him ex-wife born for am and him family he wan focus on. Single lady say she confuse say 'which family'? After he don tell her say dem don separate?!

Na so Single lady reason say, man no go just chop her go like that, at least not ontop married woman wey her husband be 'mumu' dey even follow him wife concubine pop drinks for clubs and bar.

So single lady don target the day wey married lady dey enter market, na so she come to block way for am.

Choi, she beat the married geh no be small matter o!

Na im I look the fine single geh wey set wella, I look the married geh wey don dry finish like chewing stick. I just no understand wetin some men dey find o!

Abi no be taboo to dey collabo another man wife? The woman husband sef, how he no go know if the wife dey collect outside?
I hear say the way some married women dey shine eyes outside na on another level these days.

I kukuma give single lady cold 7up make she use calm her liver. I say make she no pay me. The gist too sweet abeg!

Stella, to close eye leave husband comot house these days na God hand we dey So!

Street no dey smile o!

For this story i no go accept wetin the single geh talk as the truth cos every story get more than one angle..... She no get proof or catch them say dem dey nack so that one no be story and her hubby dey always follow am go the man house so where dem pass nack? She cut eyes for the man no mean anything abeg, the cutting eyes fit mean, enjoy yourself ooo....

Some Ladies na their work to dey suspect up and down...
Why she come double cross the lady beat am? Just because she suspect? If she must approach the lady, she for even ask am some questions nah, not to fight......she is gutter and i happy say the man dump her...

She be full time red alert.....no be better person.. No be who first talk story na em talk true.

Long read alert!

RANT 1: This could be a joke but in the event that it's not, let me seize this opportunity to speak to us (adult children) and "our" mothers.

 1. Does an elderly man/woman totally stop having sexual desires because of their age? The Alaafin is proof that they do not..

2. When a woman travels abroad on omugwo duties and stays for 6 months to 2 years, what is the old papa supposed to be doing with himself especially if he's already a retiree?

3. I see a lot of "face your children until they are grown; then abandon your husband" comments; so, abandon him to and for who? My point is if you are willing to move on, divorce him properly so that he can move on to his next fate too.

4. When a wife relocates abroad with the kids and the young husband remains in Nigeria (only to visit them once or twice a year), what arrangement has been made concerning his/her conjugal rights before the move? Or because you are both born-again, you assume you will not feel horny? Let us stop deceiving ourselves with hypocritical moral standards please. The same way you can't control hunger or thirst (except you are fasting), is the same way some people can't control their s#xual needs for more than a period.

There is an elderly respectable man in my MIL's neighborhood who orders food or carries plate in a polythene bag to buy food outside the estate almost every other day. It is very embarrassing to say the least. A man of nearly 70! Lives in a big compound alone except for relatives and friends who come by once a while. Why? His wife has been abroad on omugwo for nearly two years now and the "selfish" children give no thought to how he's faring alone at home. Shebi if that man gets a sidechick or second wife now, the wife of nearly 40 years, the children and the entire world would scream blue murder?

Suggestions:

1.If you must relocate, do so as a family. Avoid avoidable temptations. I know a lady who is currently pregnant for a ruffneck in this US while the husband is living in ignorant bliss in Nigeria. Yes! Women experience konji too and some of them act on it just like some men do too.

 2. If your mom is travelling for omugwo whether outside your state or country, as long as she is not a widow, please make adequate plans for your dad to come along with her! If not, employ someone over there and let her go back home to your father after one or two months (max). Otherwise, get him a second wife before your mom leaves so that you can monopolise your mom for the next ten years. If all these suggestions don't work for you, then don't make any useless noise when a stupid side-piece claims him on social media in Nigeria. After all, una no kuku value the man and him wellbeing before.

If your father was a deadbeat dad in your younger days, advise your mother to divorce him so that he can go and live the rest of his miserable life with his women if they'd still have him. Don't punish him with abandonment without releasing him legally to move on. That's pure wickedness and you will answer to God.

Rant 2: This is unrelated but Puh-lease, make una stop this "My cousin brother" "my cousin sister" that's fast becoming the norm on the internet. Na late last year dat one start too. My female cousin or male cousin is okay biko. You people should not use Russian bomb to blow our head away with your evil English grammar. O gini di?

Nice Rants and solutions.... It was posted in the comment section of an unrelated post sometime last week..

IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE FROM BV

An uncle came to meet my dad and told him that when he was laying foundation in the village an elderly woman advised him to stop and first of all give his late father a befitting burial before he continues with his project.

He took her advice before completing his project.

When my dad went to the village he was told that he had to do his grandfather and fathers burial. He was able to do his grandfather's burial, what is left now is his fathers burial. I am just wondering what would have happened if my uncle had not told him to go make enquiry, we the children do not go to the village, that's story for another day.

My dad being the eldest would be buried in the village. you can imagine what would have happened when his time comes and we go to the village for burial.
My mum is from the East, when her younger brother died years ago, the late brothers immediate junior brother bought a cow as a contribution for the burial. from no where the elders came and said when their dad died in the 70s no cow was bought for him therefore the cow bought is not for the son but for their father. they slaughtered the cow and shared it right before us.

What I am trying to say is, if you have elderly parents still alive, try and find out from them if there is any outstanding burial, or bills to pay in the village, It would be better to find out now and do the needful than wait till when they are dead.

Naija people own too much abeg!!!

I know someone from Mosogar in Delta state that wanted to marry and went for introduction, only to be told by the elders that the wife's mother's bride price wasn't paid so he has to pay it first before he can marry, everything bought and cooked for introduction was converted to Mama's parlor wedding items, her bride price was paid and people ate, drank and celebrated. He later had the real introduction after gathering money again after which wedding was fixed.

On the day of the wedding, father of the bride was arrested by the person that he borrowed 65k from, husband went to cell to release Baba, paid 25k and wrote undertaking for when he will pay the balance 40k within 2 months, the wife loves this guy like kilode, I no too blame her sha, its only extreme poverty that can lead to such events as I don't want to believe her folks are irresponsible

Two women approached her and give her beatings too and consoled the child.. She was left to go home but she kept hitting her back and more than before, the collected the child from her.
The small girl was crying seriously and was scared of going home with her.. That's how they called police for her to come with child welfare.
They came and took her away with the girl.

Background story :she had the baby for a guy who left her and disappeared.. She is really frustrated 😀.

  12. Bv with the village bills advice:

I am from the South south, when my grandma died, they gave all the children including mum a list which ranges from 100k to 500k depending on the child. One of my aunt's husband did not finish her marriage rites, could you believe that they gave him a marriage list and asked him to do it first before him and my aunt can participate in the burial.
So it is very important to settle all outstanding bills now before another ceremony or expenses surfaces.

This country is not safe at all,a lady boards a brt and the next thing her relatives are seeing is her corpse,, God please help us,this country is turning to something else, should we now be scared to go out, even uber, bolt is not safe too, random cabs are also not safe..The guy that lodged in the hotel and was found buried days after, till today no justice for that man.where is this country heading like this? It’s just so sad,and we can’t ignore cos nobody knows who is next. If their body parts are used for rituals who is buying the body parts?? Kaii so many questions no answer. If only the dead can speak.
