Couch Convo - N10k For A Pot Of Soup Or Stew?

There has been an argument by Nigerian Netizens on whether N10k can cook a pot of stew or soup.... Some argue that it cannot while some argue that it can even cook both....

What is your take on this?

  1. This depends on once financial status, family size or location. A pot of stew for a single person might cost less than one for a family of 10. A pot of sew in Port-harcourt might cost more than a post of stew for someone in the north.
As for me. 10k will make a pot of stew and soup and l will have small change

    1. Anyone debating this ridiculous question has never been hungry. People that cook family meals with less than 5k will be here s.m lying. Any amount can prepare anything, all depends on the necessity...

    1. Just cut your coat according to your material. You can cook both with half that budget if 5k is all you have and must feed your children. There are broken tomatoes that is sold cheap, go for scrap bones that some rich people buy for their dogs, trust me, they have a lot of nutrients especially the marrow for children.

Hang your bad where your hand fit reach.

  3. For me, it can cook both. I know things are very expensive here in Owerri but I will use it to cook correct okro soup (my favorite) and stew and still get change ontop.

  5. Depends on how long you want it to last and for a family of how many? 10k soup is just for a week or less.
It's just me and hubby and I use 10k for stew that we will use for the month.

  6. Well,it depends on the family size, location and taste. For me,since it's just myself, hubby and 2children..it will be enough to make both that will last for.a.week. meaning it's strictly beef and dry fish,I won't go for.all the orishirishi garnishings for food. Just enough ingredients and fish or meat. Things are very expensive right now in the market and prices vary from location to location. So for me to make a pot of soup and stew for just a week,I can manage it with my family size.

  9. If it's a large family, 10k cannot cook a pot of stew if you need 4 kilos of chicken, 3kg beef, shrimps, 4 big deRica, tatashe, shombo, Spice, maybe fresh tomato, then oil maybe at home.

  10. If that is all you can afford you can manage to cook 2 small pots of soups, say bitterleaf soup and okro...buy small goat meat, pkomo, stockfish, eja kika, periwinkle, ugu, ogiri and okro.. but honestly if you want a bigger pot of soup and dont already have other stuff like crayfish, onions, seasoning etc in your kitchen dis 10k no go reach anywhere...

  11. If u cook like me, 10k is not even enough for the quantity of stew I cook. I cook stew that could stay for 3weeks to 1 month

  12. For a single person or maybe just two in the house, it can. Stew dey and STEW dey. Soup dey and SOUP dey. E depends. Shebi after a long time of not eating meat due to fibroid, i got tired of eating fish and said let me buy beef one day. 2k beef, after them cut am, i could wrap my palm around it. (one palm oo). Very small something.

It also depends on if you have some ingredients at home. If you are buying everything from scratch, abeg, e no go reach. Thanks.

  14. 10k will make soup and stew very well. However, apart from crayfish don't expect much protein in it. Meat, chicken, dry fish, etc. consume the most money when making soup or stew.

  15. This nonsense started from IG by people who live fake lives with fake standard of living while deceiving themselves and the gullibles. In this same Nigeria that 1k can make a decent pot of stew/soup!!! Eyin woke generation, who do una this thing? 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

So Zaram, what will be left in 10k after making your ragular pot of stew is small change? Okay let's say small change is 500 or 1000. So it's 9500 that you usually use in making your pot of soup and stew huh?

    5. 1k??? Are u from the core north? Cos I won't be surprised, the mallam that sells tomatoes to me also gives his wives 1k for soup and stew. They just buy vegetables, small pepper and plenty maggi...soup don set oo. Wit a mudu of grounded corn for swallow. Very unappealing soup oo.
      So I won't doubt u.
For ogbono soup and stew, that is correct and we will use for two weeks,I spend well above 16k. I use chicken and Pomo for stew and plenty stock fish, mangala, beef, pomo etc for soup. Anything less, the soup and stew will last longer cos we won't enjoy it.
