  3. Good, raising children abroad, is it really the best and my brother said he will bring his children down in Nigeria to get some manners?

    1. Abeg. All the manners we have now, how is it helping us? Tired of this country tbvh

    2. You learn manners from home

    3. Coming to Nigeria to learn manners? It’s coming to Nigeria to physically abuse them and get away with it something they can’t do abroad. They want to employ house help to train their kids cos they can’t afford it abroad. I trained my kids abroad and did it very well.

    4. Brush someone's car in a traffic jam and see just how mannerless we are. Trauma does not a decent child make. All of our trauma and domestic terrorism has made us pretenders with no mind of our own. The moment they force is off, we manifest as rabid wildings and then start looking for another country of so called mannerless people to escape to.

    5. you raise your kids with manners wherever you are....yes abroad influences them to be outspoken and very independent minded but not to be mannerless. even some oyibo children are raised right and not mannerless so i dont know what he means exactly by mannerless sha. I have relatives, friends and family who have raised kids right abroad...

  5. Enter embassies in Nigeria and you will be amazed on the number of people who are aspiring to leave Nija daily. Even African embassies in Nigeria are not left out

  7. If by happiness you mean relatively good roads, stable electricity, relatively good health care (excluding how the hospital staff will treat you), seemingly good education (excluding the moral depravity your children will be taught), then yes, Canada is the place. But if you are looking for a good heart, kindness, empathy, genuine good will, people who will support your progress as an immigrant, run away from Canada. The US has a anyone can be great mindset. But attempt to excel as a black immigrant in Canada, especially if you make the mistake of standing out then you will know the true meaning of VILLAGE PEOPLE. Canada has a terrible problem, it's called the TALL POPPY SYNDROME.

    1. What moral depravity are you referring to? Is it sexual orientation? They let you decide freely whatever sexuality you choose as a person. Unlike Nigeria holier than thou but stone and behead on a daily basis. I choose anywhere else apart from Nigeria. Thanks

    2. So you are saying, no black immigrant has excelled in Canada? Anon, you can lie Sha.

    3. "excluding the moral depravity your children will be taught".... You don't have to be there. Come back to holy land so that you can end up more Christian that the pope.

    4. Canada is very cold to immigrants abeg. I don’t know if it’s the weather or the people or both. I relocated to the States and I don’t regret. Best decision ever.

    5. I guess the anon means Moral depravity as per man marry man, woman marry woman, children then grow up with confused sexual identities, amongst others. But Nigerians don't care about this..for now.

    6. 15.39 Well, if you had immigrants flooding your country, you likely won't be happy about it... Ordinary abokis migrating to the south from the north, people complain.
I remb how my colleague in the UK would constantly be asking me when I'm returning home. Well, I got my passport, made some strategic investments, and left their country for them. Can't be living as a second class citizen in any country abeg.

  8. There is nothing "smart" about relocating your family, if it is want you want fine, don't think those who didn't are not smart enough. But then bear in mind that relocating you family does not guarantee anything,

Most of us who migrated as adults from Naija after Bsc are doing much much better than the people raised here. I have noticed that majority of the kids raised here are not eager and sure of how to utilize and maximize the loads of opportunities here

    1. It takes grace to achieve anything and anywhere in life. That you achieved is by Gods grace nothing more. Stop condemning people that can’t. We all live by grace.

    2. I agree, I migrated as an adult too and noticed that. Success is not automatic, it's something you must strive for regardless of where you were born or where you migrate to. Life stories surely differ. In Nig some will be successful, some will not. Abroad too, some will be successful some will not. In this abroad some kids born here have made their parents really proud.. while some have caused great pain to their parents. I have seen it all.

    3. Anonymous 14:29, we are saying the same thing. Migrating or not migrating does not guarantee anything. So you can't say one is smart (relatively) just because he moved his family abroad.

As you said, na grace dey run am.

    7. Stella isn’t saying they are smart mostly because of success but mostly because of safety.
Have you seen the news and the killings and kidnappings going on here?
Right now people are resigning from good jobs and leaving because of safety.

    9. I agree. I relocated as an adult after BSc and the ones who were born and raised here don’t see the opportunities I see. They often act as though I am too desperate for success. Then they get abit jealous when I enter places that they don’t get into.

This life eh! Just do your best at any level. Parents Don’t cry if you can’t send kids abroad now. God will open the door when it’s time. My siblings and I all schooled in Naija for 1st degree - Government schools. Not much money but we tried. Today, 3 of us are abroad and doing well. The others are joining soon. We have foreign degrees and all. Our parents visit. When their friends were travelling abroad they couldn’t afford it. My mum said used to feel bad when people send kids to private university to school in Nigeria. She couldn’t afford it. Today, they come and go as they please. We are doing even better than some of those people because the hunger for success pushes us to move by faith. God is truly a rewarder 🙌🏽Just serve Him wherever you find yourself and lead your household to do same

  10. Stella I will disagree with you on this. Most of the “smart” celebrities are doing so so so,.,, it’s very wrong to make that statement. If that is what they want to do and it aligns the their purpose in life then that’s fine .
I know a couple doing very very well who relocated abroad few years ago because that was the other of the day. I remember the wife the n saying “that is what everyone is doing” mind you, her husband was a multi millionaire, she had a very big business and a school. In short then because the slogan was naija useless she will always rant online. When she told me they were going to sell off their house at a very affordable price I asked her why she said “make una Carry una useless country we no do again” few years now she was telling me that this does feel like they are fulfilling their purpose and destiny. As a matter of fact, their way of life and the quality of life is quite different, now the kind of job she and her husband does isn’t what they should be doing. The man wants to come back and build back his business career. She also wants to do the same but her husband is telling her to wait so their kids can go to uni but she thinks he is being selfish, the man is telling that she made him move so this is her sacrifice because he is not going to move all his family back because they cannot afford their formal way of life. Their kids don’t mind moving because they actually had a good life but they don’t understand that it will not be the same and their dad feel like people will mock them.
My point is let people make their decision based on what will give them fulfillment and what aligns with their purpose on earth.
Have you asked yourself why some foreigners are still in this “shit hole” ?
My brother has a foreign investor in a business no body wanted to do with him. The investor his family live here . And the man will always tell him that there is money is this country but we like the belittle our country . The deal is that the he will make 60% profit and my brother 40 . He is bringing the major money and equipment.
Oh and for raising kids ,you can raise good kids any and every where. Teach them and let them see you do the right thing. I also know people were raised abroad but do runs, organize orgies and live off their parents same and I know those who are doctors etc and making their parents proud but raised abroad and in naija 🤷🏽‍♀️

    1. A number of people (particularly those that were successful in naija) regret their decisions to relocate but shame won't gree them to say it.

    2. If Naija is okay for you, stay there. If not, you can move. But don’t move because people are moving. I know a few who have done that and are depressed. Some people just don’t get it sha

    3. define the success as you call it...how many people make legit success? not everyone will be on politics or doing govt contract or be successful...what is success in this life if not to have the basics? but naija has conditioned us to see success in a different way. abroad nobody sends you, success is having the basics and living a good happy life....success in naija is to be popular, buy your own house, have big cars etc, yet the system frustrates you...

Any spirit of mistake or stupidity or "oju kokoro" or selfishness will not fall on any member of this family.

  12. Nigeria is a terrible country but abroad is not for everyone. Nothing particularly smart about relocating abroad. Japa didn't start today and it's not only a Nigerian phenomenon. You can make it anywhere, it's up to you to know what you want. Many people relocate because they want to follow the trend, and they end up living a life they don't like. Do what works for you.

  13. Many foreigners like Nigeria precisely for the reasons many Nigerians leave. The inferiority complex that makes us treat a less educated foreigner better than his Nigerian senior. They “love” the lawlessness, tax avoidance, cheap labor like helps & drivers etc. My ex colleagues who are foreigners used to wonder why I relocated from our multinational in Nigeria because they hung out with embassy staff, got expat pay & lived like kings in a lawless place while being made to feel superior. That’s why it’s easier for white people even dumb ones to make money in Nigeria. It’s not because there are economic opportunities. There simply aren’t enough hence the unrest everywhere from almajiris in the north to everywhere. The West is organized and centuries ahead in infrastructure but the parasites will not allow progress to even return to pre-1963 levels in Nigeria. Someone with a construction firm in the west had to put his staff upfront as his boss before he could secure some road contracts. The white guy was initially amused until he understood the serious deep seated colonial mindset in Nigeria. You need to show that no American can do some jobs here before you are allowed to file for a foreigner. Not so in Nigeria where expat workers do sales girl work in LG or Samsung! Nigerian immigration Dept doesn’t even care if high school foreign cert holders do jobs that locals can do or if those jobs are offered to Nigeria. The issue is deeper than bank account which is the only yardstick for measuring success in Naija. A wealthy friend slumped & died a few weeks ago on the island. No CPR, no AED, arrived hospital gone. Worst part was his sibling carried him around in his car to multiple hospitals as all the morgues were full. Full because of the Owanbe planning that makes folks keep dead loved ones for months till party planning is complete. It took the intervention of an ex gov to get a military hospital to accept his body! He needed “connection” even in death! If that is the kind of society you like, that’s fine but it’s not normal! Teens learn CPR before babysitting but people scream when someone slumps not knowing cpr or that there may be a few mins window to save a life since there isn’t an extensive ambulance & hospital network is sad. A good life includes good healthcare & I dare say the average westerner has a better one than PMB who needs a 6-hr flight to get to a world class one. To each his own. Security & healthcare trump all else for me.
