Nigeria's EX DSP Ekweremadu Says Presidential Candidate Peter Obi Cannot Be Nigeria's President

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, cannot be elected president of Nigeria, according to former deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu.

In addition, Ekweremadu disclosed which political party the Igbo people would support in the 2023 elections.

The lawmaker from Enugu acknowledged that their son and a credible candidate, Peter Obi, required support in an interview with journalists on Wednesday June 22, 2022. However, he added that the Igbos needed to be dynamic during the election.

He asserted that the former governor of Anambra State is ineligible to win the presidency; adding that the East cannot afford to waste their votes.

He advised residents of the South East not to make judgments that they may later come to regret or that will have an impact on their future.

Comparing voting for Peter Obi to “throwing away votes,” Ekweremadu voiced confidence that the South East would support the opposition People’s Democratic Party.

Not everyone must support you, not everyone must like you, not everyone will believe in you. All that matters is you believing in yourself.

Everyone complaining has something to gain, they are complaining because they will be affected, nothing concern stomach infrastructure with brotherhood.

So what if they are not United?

Finally I am ready and willing to vote for Peter Obi whether my vote is counted, wasted or thrown away. I don't care

  10. So say a man who has lost his way and cant even win a re-election.

The Igbos have been too naive and also treated badly in the political sphere. They have in the past, followed the parties blindly and showed blind support which they are still doing in the hope that it will get to their turn. But let me shock them, it will never get to their turn if they continue to sell out thinking they will get the support they need when its their turn (Which turn?).

In 1999, they had the chance to field an all Igbo candidates in all the major political parties, but they stepped down for the south West. In 2007, it was normal for power to go North but unfortunately, it went South south after 5 years. Then in 2015, it went back to the north and in 2019, it also went back to the north, this time an Igbo man was selected as a VP to Atiku. The Igbos overwhelmingly voted for the PDP but unfortunately the PDP lost. In 2023, it is natural for all the parties to zone the presidency to the south East for equity, justice and fairness. The southern governors even made a proclamation to the effect that power must go South. (Not south East in particular). The PDP threw its nomination open, several Igbos and northerners threw their hat into the ring. Obi saw the process and stepped down. On the D.day, the northern candidate stepped down and supported their own (Atiku), Wike gave it a big fight (even though he shouldn't be contesting on moral ground in my opinion but he has every right to) and he came second. All the other Igbo candidate were not able to pull their forces together neither were they able to get a tangible vote. To make matters worse, their own delegates voted for people of other regions. These are the same candidates and delegates shouting that power must come to the south east.

Despite this Obi is still in the race and arguably the most competent candidate of all. The other regions are beginning to accept him but the east is try playing politics of strategy. A politics that will continue to put them in oblivion.

PDP has selected Okowa as VP candidate which many claim is also representing the south east region. If the PDP wins in 2023, Okowa will be in a good place to succeed Atiku after 8 years if power goes south and that is when the Igbos will come with the narrative that Okowa is not Igbo enough to represent the region when claim that its the turn of the south east arises.

If the APC wins, power will return to the north after 8 years, and when it come back to the south after 16 years, the south south will lay claim to it and where does this put the Igbos.

Being politically aligned must not make you follow others foolishly.

If Ekweremadu think the south east will or should vote for the PDP because of whatever reason when they have a Peter Obi who is pulling all the weight behind him at the moment, it will be good as kissing the presidency goodbye for the next 50 years.

    ***Excuse my typos.

  16. If you think the mad rush and surge of PVC collection is for Atiku or Tinubu, then you have your head to be re-examined for possible brain damaged. If it were these two names mentioned above, the churches won't get this active participation they are right now using their branches all over the country as centres for PVC collections. There won't be this rush yourey seeing today.

The youths and celebrities haven't gotten this level of participation before like now. Nigerian youths are tired of the status quo and really want a change. If Peter Obi should withdraw from this race, he will be arrested. He no longer has a choice than to be the President.

Ekweremadu is a greedy and jealous being. He sees himself as more important than anyone in the Eastern part of the country. I'm not surprised, for the last time Peter Obi deputized Atiku, he was even against it. Peter Obi has gotten to the height he wishes to get in life so he feel threatened.

I am beginning to believe that those who chant this do so to discourage other people.
Is he coming out to represent just igbos?
They forget that igbos stay training and helping other boys to stand on their own, they forget how the “apprenticeship” trade has helped igbos help themselves but the few percentage has turned to “igbos are enemies to each other”
Even if it’s even true, what does that have to do with presidency.
All we are looking for is a competent person… that’s all

    2. Honestly, I'm tired of the usual chant of Igbos not supporting themselves, it's getting irritating even. There are Yorubas and other tribes supporting Obi, and Tinubu is also contesting, does it mean they hate themselves? What Nigeria needs has gone beyond tribe, it's who will make this country work again, this is indirectly insulting other tribes supporting Obi, because you feel it's the duty of every Igbo man to support him.
PS: I'm Igbo and I support Obi because I believe he has what it takes to turn Nigeria around, however, if a candidate like Ikpeazu was fielded, would you expect me to support him simply because he's Igbo?. Ekweremadu can support any candidate he wants, and naturally his allegiance has to be first to his party, however, he doesn't speak for the Igbos.

Same way southsouth alone can't win the presidency for Tinubu so his supporters are wasting their votes and should support OBI. Don't you see how ludicrous it is to tell people their vote is a waste, in a democratic dispensation. If that is PDP's strategy then it's a lame and silly argument. I vote who I think is best for the presidency, not who I think will win..
