Actress Funke Akindele Puts Career On Hold And Confirms She Has Veered Into Politics...

Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has confirmed her nomination as the deputy gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Akindele, in a video posted on Tuesday via her Instagram page, disclosed that she would be putting a hold on her career as an actress and will venture into politics to cause a change to improve the welfare of Lagosians.

She asked that youths rally around her and governorship candidate, Dr Olajide Adediran known as Jendor to achieve a better Lagos

“I am a Lagosian born out of Ikorodu so when the PDP gubernatorial candidate asked me to be his deputy governor I saw it as an opportunity to help liberate and improve the welfare of our people, particularly the deprived youth, women, and girl child.

“My decision is not only to accept this huge responsibility to see our dear Lagos live up to its full potential with the people as its immediate beneficiaries.

“Over the years a lot of youths have been ignored victimised for daring to have a dream so I use this opportunity to call out all well-meaning residents of the nation, especially the youths. It’s indeed time to use our numerical strength to our full advantage and time to rally ourselves and support our own.

“I’m not unaware of the cost of this assignment on my vibrant career which I must now necessarily put on hold its a huge personal sacrifice but my resolve is no sacrifice is too much for the actualisation of the urgent mission to rescue our people and dear state.

“It is a call I take with reverence and utmost sense of responsibility. Indeed we can achieve a Lagos for all our residents.”

  2. Sanwo Eko is not doing the job given to him by Lagosians, I hope he won't win it. I wonder if Jendor can. Lafunky, I like you though I don't like your party but let the best person for the job win it.

  3. That explains the coverup charade she has been putting up with for awhile now.
The reason she still had to pretend married to be in the good books.
Same reason she never replied any of them.
    A strategic woman,I stan.

  9. The only reason these actors/actresses are venturing into politics is because of the money and not because they are ready to bring substantial and positive changes. They are recruited because they have a large following and not because of merit or capabilities.

    1. Absolutely true
Banky o,Desmond o,Tonto o and Funke are all in for the cash that comes with politics.
I do not believe there's any genuine change that they can bring.
      Let's watch and see

    3. Abi. Nollywood is so funny. I remember when they all ventured into music too, around that 2005 era. Can't remember who started it, next thing all of them enter studio. Watch out for all of them to enter politics now

  11. PDP is obviously not ready to hijack Lagos from APC. I mean ,what is this! Funke Akindele as deputy! Sanwo-Olu will def win again. PDP should come back in 4 yrs time when they are ready. For now, they are not.

    1. Are you from Lagos? That you are trying to tell her she can’t contest in her father’s land? If you don’t like it, relocate to your state and protests. Funks is from Ikorodu and a huge block of votes there will go to her! She’s a big threat let me tell you!

    2. Exactly. Sanwo-Olu is definitely winning again.

  15. Am happy for her growth, from I NEED TO KNOW ACTRESS to a super star now venturing into politics and aspiring to be a deputy Governor, if life could be good like dis, why do we even have any reason to Japa, lucky you dear!

  16. I hope her previous conviction won't be an issue. Her lawyers and those of the PDP would have raised the issue and found a way out.

  17. She would have made a nice deputy if only Jandor isn't mole in the PDP.
She's got a very strong and likeable personality.
Her career trajectory from 'I need to know' to Jenifa is something worth selling to every girl child.

It's just unfortunate that Jandor is being used by BAT to bring down the opposition in Lagos, only those who haven't been observant of Lagos politics will disagree.
Who remembers Afikuyomi being the candidate of ANPP with so much razzmatazz?

    1. You're so smart. Serial Governorship candidate Jimi Agbaje was a mole in PDP for 15years,he has joined APC last week 🤷🤷🤷🤷

    2. Ohh, he has finally joined his real party?. I know Jimi has been a mole since forever.

    3. Ebikzy1, u've just summed it up.

Let Funke not go and waste her hard earned money on a jamboree; having at best, 'one time deputy governorship aspirant' added to her cv.
