Pastor Kumuyi Talks About The Covering Of Heads In Churches And How People React...

There is a viral video f Pastor Kumuyi talking about the covering of heads and what it signifies......

He said

"Somebody is coming to our church for the first time. And she happens to be a lady not covering her head. We ask the person to cover her head before coming in. We don’t know whether she is born again or not. whether she knows God or not. We tell her you must stay there and cover your head.

Any woman that prays or prophesize with her hair uncovered Dishonors her hair

If I were the person, I would wonder what kind of church is this? why would they treat me like a primary school girl, that will be my last time coming to the church. Because we don't understand how to position the word of God, we drive a lot of people away

The scripture is saying the purpose of covering the head for the woman, is when you pray or prophesize

There are sisters that cover their heads at least 20 hours everyday. in church, on the street, while eating, they cover their heads. The heat will be emitting odour.

Some people even in the bathroom they cover. why put yourself in such bondage? it's because you don't know the scripture.

Any woman that prays or prophesizes with her hair uncovered dishonors her hair

There are some wives who don't make themselves clean, beautiful, attractive to their husbands. He has married me, so he cannot divorce me. So they dress shabbily and won't be presentable to their husband...''.

  1. I'm surprised that Pastor Kumuyi said all that, after enslaving his members for a long time. Anyway, there's always room for change since CHANGE is the only thing that is constant. I remember those days while in an aunt's house who is a Deeper Life member, you dare not watch television, use perfume or be seen having a discussion with an opposite sex. The rules were just too many.

Na so one of their pastor wey I know go end up marrying the must lazy, dirty, smelly wife I have ever seen.
That man don suffer no be small.
Their whole house dey smell, and the man na neat man asper person wey been don live abroad. I don't even know what he was thinking, and no be say him no get money, him even don build house before settling down tho he wasn't young sha.. after one pikin, dem close shop, me and my couz go talk say which man won sleep with that kind dirty smelling woman, so it's not hard to know that they've stopped having sex for years..
The way they date is to only meet in the presence of a chaperone, most times the pastor, so how you won take know your partner truly with this arrangement when you no go fit even ask deep questions..
Good he is changing some of their outrageous church traditions..
No be everytine salvation, sanctification and purification preaching, also talk about real life day to day runnings..
Looking sober and ugly is ungodly, you don't have to look like trash to look decent, you don't have to wear over size skirt to be seen as decent.
You can look smart and decent at the same time

    3. You see this courtship own ehh, I knw someone who had to be sneaking around with her then fiance. A church member once saw the two of them in a taxi together and that same evening pastor called asking all soughts of question. Since to be seen publicly became an issue, they were sneaking visiting each other. I don't think dey were allowed to even call one another.
A particular day she visited and found him seriously ill,she dare not call anyone on his behalf oo coz next thing is to ask her how she knew he was sick. They were members of Watchman tho

  2. But he was the one that used to preach all these earlier.
When deeper life was newly founded, women weren't even encouraged to open their hair at all!
I get that he knows times are changing and probably wants to deconstruct his legalistic teachings, but don't act oblivious as to where they emanated from!
In church then ushers would not let women who didn't cover the hair enter the church. In fact, they even used to preach that women should always carry a scarf in their bag incase maybe an emergency happened and they needed to party urgently as God wouldn't answer their prayers if their heads were uncovered.

Anyway, this msg is for people who still listen to that legalism. I thank God I am free of the bondage of guilt and can worship God in peace and genuine love and the knowledge that Jesus's sacrifice has made me able to approach God freely, instead of relying on lack of earrings and trousers to make me holy before God.
    Abeg.

  5. Choi!! Times and things are really changing. No one will believe the pastor Kumuyi of 1992 and pastor Kumuyi of 2022. They once condemned TV but now know its very much part of technological growth and a necessity to the present world.
We pray God gives us deeper understanding of His word so we won't even need any man or preacher to tell us how to live/dress to make heaven.
I no be deeper life person ooo and i have never liked the way most of their women dress or look from the onset. make them approve at least dot earing for their ladies abeg
Mercy Chinwo is an inspiration that a lady can be well covered and moderately dressed and still look classy and beautiful.
I believe a lady needs to always look attractive and well dressed, weather married or not.

My brothers and I suffered for watching TV through our neighbor's windows.

The truth is that some members are just too extreme. They even do what he didn't ask them to. Some don't even have a mind of their own, if you no tell them do, dem no go do and vice versa

  7. Hmmmmm......which means pentecostal Churches dishonour God, cause 90% of them don't mandate their female members to cover their hair in Church and when they pray(my Church included)

  8. My cousin and her husband attend this church, infact her husband is a district pastor there. In this 2022 they do not have a television set, only a radio,But when they visit us at home,if the tv is off they ask to put it on,they watch tv when they come around. If not for phone they barely know what’s happening around them and I wonder how one can live like that in this century.

    2. For that TV own, I know it is a man made doctrine The members that understands the message properly have TVs but they are very mindful of what they watch and are very sincere about it while those who got TV in their homes that don't understand the reason for the doctrine will hide the TV when a member comes visiting. A deeper life member told me that their pastor(G.O) adviced not to buy TV because they are not certain about the contents the TV. That most of the contents we watch on TV could make easily one to be tempted to sin. If you can discipline yourself not to fall for those things you watch , what about the other members of your household, can they withstand sin as well? 17. 1 Corinthians 8:13 Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them,

      19. James 1:14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

      20. 1 Corinthians 6:12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be enslaved by anything... These are some of the places he pointed out to me, so I won't condemn them for following that rout , with the hope that could help curtail immorality.

Now that the world has evolved, we have come to realise that most people go to church and listen to advice from the pastors but they don't really practice those things, this is applicable to every denomination. We are only holy in our church premises sin when other members of your church are around but in secret we commit so many sin. Not just deeper life. Every denomination has people who are guilty of this but we like to harp on the ones that deeper life members do because we hate them.

Their not watching TV mantra failed them because in this generation that we are in, there is no way one can escape viewing sexual explicit contents. Even if you don't watch on TV, you see them on billboards and all that. So it's not working unless they discipline themselves not to fall for what they see even if they mistakenly bumped into it. If they decide to change that law, then it's fine but can't deny the fact that most of the sexual sins we commit today are as a result of some things we watched .

  11. I really don't enjoy making comments towards religious stuffs like this inorder not to sin against the holy spirit.on the last day,God alone will judge men,not men judging men.if u aren't please attending deeper life church, then there are hundreds of churches u can attend with doctrines different from deeper life.but the most importantly is ur way of life pleasing to the lord?what are ur thoughts good/evil?do u love/hate?the bible says,my body is thy temple which must be kept holy at all time.the fear of the lord tendeth to life and he that hath it shall abide satisfied,he shall not be visited with evil (proverb 19 vs 23)

    1. You don't enjoy commenting on religious stuff in order not to sin against the holly spirit? Ha, this type of belief is misleading o. If you don't condemn those misleading God's people who will? Is there any special person assigned to always call sinners to order? As a christian are you not a soldier of Christ? Did God give those pastors monopoly to sin and get away with it? Won't your conscience flip you when you don't speak up and shun evil going on in the church? Una dey try o. This your belief is not scriptural o. Don't mind those pastors quoting that scripture halfway for you to cover up their manipulative schemes.

"... Most Christians nowadays simply don't care about the prevalence of false doctrine, nor do they take seriously their duty to fight against apostasy. Instead they want a friendly atmosphere of open acceptance of everyone, tolerance of opposing ideas and charitable dialogue with the apostates." John MacArthur

The bible is clear about how men asked questions and made condemnation where necessary. Checkbthe scriptures very well you will see where it is written that Christianity expose/reproves evil while religion will dance around evill so that people won't get offended. There are many other passages of the bible with the same message like this. Now you are saying condemning pastors means you are sinning against the holly spirit.

Eph 5:11-12 ...instead of taking part in unfruitful works o darknness,we are suppose expose them.

    2. @slim shaddy, pls read my write up again..I said I don't like commenting on spiritual issues cos every man of God has his own understanding of the word of God,we christians have to be careful cos sometimes making comments, one might end up saying things against the gospel cos truly no one has seen God and has full understanding of his works.am not a member of deeper life yet,I choose not to speak against any man of God,instead I make my way right in the sight of God

      Delete
    3. Did you actually read my comment?

    4. Quote from ur comment@slim shaddy,'if u don't condemn those misleading God's people, who will? This was a question from u.and I have replied u as a Christian,I cannot condemn anyone bcos God is the ultimate judge,no one is perfect except him.so why must man condemn one another.u have ur understanding of the gospel likewise I.And I repeat, I will never condemn a man of God,we have our different belief of the word of God and we are all sinners.all judgements belongs to God only

      Delete
    5. Slim Shady, so it's okay for u to condemn men of God but when it's time to condemn the acts of ur fellow human beings, it becomes a case of 'judge not' ?

Some of u ppl really need to understand what it means to be a Christian.

I remember one wedding I attended in that church,I wasn't allowed in because my hair wasn't covered, they offered one dirty handkerchief and I refused to collect instead I stood outside.

  15. I didn't see any where this man changed the already made doctrine here. He still quoted it there that the already established doctrine as quoted from 1cor 11vs 5 still stands. let's read this thing with an open mind. He still stands with that doctrine that says women should cover their hair when they want to pray and prophesy. He is not a difficult person. The first day I listened to his message on 'Vision Africa radio' around 2014 I couldn't believe someone like him could sound so simple like that because from the countenance of the members of his church that I see around, I already see a picture of their general overseer as a strict and wicked person who forces repentance on people , but it is not so

Most of the law enforcers of this men of God over do things. Members hardly take good car of their body because pastor said you should not love the things of the world. Yes, scripture says we shouldn't love the things of this world but that doesn't mean that you should over do things. You see most of them looking pale and dirty. Pastor never said you shouldn't bath and keep your environment neat... Maybe it's comprehension that is their problem.

    1. Exactly my thoughts. You need to meet him in person he indeed is man filled with the Holy Spirit. It was just as if I was standing close to a true Saint In heaven . How doctrine still stands he changed nothing, if you guys can’t read and understand his narrative quit talking trash and avoid Gods anger.
Leave all for God to judge

  16. Please if you guys can read his narrative properly and to the end it’s best you shut up and don’t lay Gods curse on your head.
His doctrine still stands he changed nothing it still remains same thing. And stop saying evil things against the man of God. What he said now he has always said it, but you people who don’t understand will just say trash.
Long live pastor Kumuyi may God keep being with you and leading the church aright.

  18. My people I am surprised o. Hmmmm. Pastor kumuyi has reversed on almost all the things that used to be a sin for deeper life people. Use of deodorant, wearing jeans. Simple attachment weaving, wearing good clothes, watching TV, etc.
I know many deeper life girls that had horrible body odour cos it was forbidden to wear a perfume or use deodorant. Change is the only thing in life.

  20. Most Christians around prefer to follow what their pastors quote from Bible verses and not actually the real commandments of God, love thy neighbour as thyself,I don't think any church in Nigeria preaches that again, sometime ago some Catholic churches were so strong on that but now it seems to be a taboo
