According to Sunnewsonline, the musician was arrested and detained on Tuesday after ICPC operatives closed in on him, forcing him to surrender himself at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, sources familiar with the matter said.
The pop star, a wealthy Nigerian celebrity, is accused of fraudulently diverting hundreds of naira earmarked by the Nigerian government for the N-Power project, an empowerment programme set up by the Nigerian government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.
Investigators alleged that D’banj colluded with some compromised government officials to introduce ghost beneficiaries into the payroll of the scheme
The stipends paid to those beneficiaries were then paid to accounts that have now allegedly been linked to the pop star.
After the musician failed to show up for interrogation despite multiple invitations, the ICPC moved to arrest him anywhere in Nigeria and abroad, forcing him to show up at the commission’s office on Tuesday.
On arrival, D’banj was subjected to a prolonged interrogation session after which he was detained. His plea for administrative bail was rejected by officials who said the musician could not be trusted to attend his trial if released on bail.
It was also gathered that ICPC might approach the court for an extended remand order to enable the agency complete its investigation before charging the musician in court.
Always been a fraudster. An entertaining fraudster!
ReplyDeleteFinally, I hope Elvis his accomplice would be arrested too.
DeleteClear conscience fears NO ALLEGATION. Why was he avoiding their invitation ? A popular, upright, talented and well connected person in Nigeria would have honored that investigation long before now. There is NO SMOKE in Nigeria without FIRE...I know most of our security agencies are corrupt and not to be trusted but in this particular case, (in wike's voice) "You see this one, this one right here- REMOVE YOUR HAND"...... He was involved directly or indirectly. He need to sell something and SETTLE.. finish. Our security agencies only work when you fail RESPECT or SETTLE them...
DeleteNo smoke without fire, Daniel clear your name
DeleteEwoooo! Idonbilivit!!! Koko master y na??? This life na wa! No be who first start race dey reach finish line. His music career is dead already.
ReplyDeleteNigeria crime agencies always acting so dumb!
ReplyDeleteNews all over the internet and they are not done with the investigation. That is even if they have started...
And who are the government officials???

ReplyDeleteWaaawu,,,,,,,So D- banj is among the people that makes me not to be a beneficiary of n-power after doing well in the test.If found guilty, may you not 'bo lowo won't this time
ReplyDeleteIkputu onu...its an ALLEGATION. Get to the root of the matter before deciding he is among with one side of your mouth and if found guilty with another
DeleteIf this is true, its shameful to say the least. It's like corruption is inbuilt among Nigerians, no matter your status. Can Nigeria ever be healed of the shame?
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! It can't be.
ReplyDeleteEweleke😱😱,well he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
ReplyDeleteWahala no dey finish o
ReplyDeleteMusician isonu in the trenches in the mud
ReplyDeleteShameless criminal. He should be severely punished
ReplyDeleteMadam be taking it easy. You have already done investigation and found him culpable right? When they judged you guilty of insulting stella even after proof you forgot how u were running up and down saying not true not true.
DeleteWahala.....but Dbanj why?
ReplyDeleteWahaleux. Man and his insatiable appetite
ReplyDeleteLol..
DeleteMan and woman 😌
Don't mind me, I know what you mean, just that I dey always look Una with corner eye when una go dey use man described these things, e.g. "the heart of man is wicked", even when na woman do the wicked thing..
However, I'm not surprised about the whole Dbanj ish, having a mind of one's own is a big flex in this present world, if you compare yourself or put unnecessary pressure on yourself because of what you see people post on the internet, you would have yourself to be blamed..
Was it not 2 days ago we all saw a post here, of one musician that bought two cars at the same time, an escalade and one other expensive truck, and was flaunting.. if we ask how he made the money now, we'll be called haters..
Nothing stays hidden forever ✌️
BOSS DANTE, all these skit makers should be investigated too.
DeleteMake I go drink my koko garri and continue minding my business.
What should they investigate them for?if you know how much they make from streaming you won’t say all these nonsense.People are legit making a lot of money from YouTube subscription and views.y’all are just jealous and broke that’s why you think their money is fraud and rituals.
DeleteDoes fraud flow through the veins or is it in the air????
ReplyDeleteEyaaaaa
ReplyDeleteMusic no pay am again
I have come to a stage where I don't
ReplyDeletebelieve 80% of the things I hear from this government and their agencies.
Thank you my sister
DeleteThis is not nice at all.
ReplyDeleteIf he's guilty then this is shameful and embarrassing and every criminal should be punished.
Why are the rich so greedy? The little the poor could get from government they will take that one too.
ReplyDeleteMay God punish him if found guilty.
And who will punish your politicians?
DeleteHe is innocent until proven guilty.
ReplyDeleteDbanj why?
ReplyDeleteNa wa oh, money that could have helped people. Anyway still innocent until proven guilty.
ReplyDeleteYemgirl1
🙄🙄🙄
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame!
ReplyDeleteIF this is true, it'll make me so angry, so so angry. The rich continue to greedily steal from the poor and still oppress them whenever they cry out for justice. Why? Why do we have so many people (read Nigerians) with questionable moral character today? Even among those who supposedly have enough? What is this madness? Is a good name no longer better than silver and gold? Is stealing and deceit no longer shameful acts? What is wrong with out generation?
ReplyDeleteThat's why the country is what it is today.
DeleteNigerians will soon turn it into a show of love and I like him/her syndrome. If he is guilty, he should be punished according to the law. We can't have a nation of two laws: one for the poor, another for the rich and connected. You might like or even love d banj as a musician but this is about the law
ReplyDeleteDon't mind them. See them talking about guilty until proven innocent, if it's true bla bla... when he clearly evaded arrest. If he's innocent why didn't he submit himself to the police when invited rubbish
DeleteShooter he’s innocent until proven guilty not the other way round calm down
DeletePeople underestimate the principality and power holding this country . Once your feed off them your will pay with your blood 🩸 or your shame .
ReplyDeleteTragic for Dapo .
Stop all these mumbo jumbo. There is no spiritual forces holding us back
DeleteRobbing from the disadvantaged and marginalized is as low as one can go. Everyday ppl complain no opportunity in the country, and something comes in place for the youth to help them get ahead and other ppl who have already made it in life and have wealth and status will still slap food out of these young poor ppl's mouths. How fckn low can you go for money. The authorities should keep the pressure on and shake them all down. He and his cohorts get no sympathy from me.
ReplyDeleteWell said.
DeleteVery good question @ how fckn low can you go for the money?
DeleteIf anyone doubts the authenticity of this news, then you're a criminal just like him
