  2. you forgot to mention that society is one major reason people tell lies about their age. I have noticed that when a woman is married and has children you will see her always displaying her real age. When a woman is single she will never declare her age.

  4. If things are working as it should. Like you finished school. Got job. Got married when you want, give birth within 10 months of marriage. How you go come lie about your age. May God put us on the fast lane that there will be no need to hide age.

  6. A lot of our parents' generation (i'm in my mid 50s now) usually decreased a little from their age before they enter the civil service or work, this was to enable them work a little longer before the mandatory retirement age. Infact most were perplexed at their friends that did not decrease their age for this purpose sef. I remember conversations like this amongst our parents friends when they are talking about their "real age and official age." It was esier then because most did not have any official record of birth, so na affidavit of birth / age for local government be their birth certifcate.
Same things happen with these sports persons especially footballers, sebi na una still go dey hala say, eh this papa cannot be under 20, he must be at least 30 or 40 years old with his strong face.
The thing though is that before before, people did not really use to loud it, because people dey wey know them from wantinitin and it could get them in trouble at their jobs, unlike know that SM don explode, person wey lie about age go still get audacity to dey broadcast am for SM with open eye.

  8. The society we live in causes it, especially for the ladies. It doesn't favour the single ladies at all. Once you're approaching 30 or 30+, you have automatically become an old woman to your kins men and even your own family members will be referring to you as an agadi nwanyi whenever you step on them.
