Crooner Davido And Wife Chioma Reportedly Married 5 Days After Sons Death In Order To Bury Him..

Crooner Davido reportedly secretly married his lover Chioma Rowland barely five days after their son’s death.

The internet was set abuzz on November 1;2022 over the report of the death of their son, Ifeanyi who drowned in a swimming pool at his father’s residence in Banana Island, Lagos State.

It was gathered that Chioma’s kinsmen had stopped the burial of Ifeanyi by the Adeleke family, claiming that the deceased was their son since Chioma was not legally married to Davido. A tradition practised in parts of Igbo Land.

According to Daily Sun Chioma’s bride price was paid on Friday, November 4, 2022, in a quiet and secret traditional marriage ceremony in Lagos before the deceased was buried on November 5.

Chioma’s kinsmen from Ezeala Odu, Owerre Nkwoji, in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State, hosted Davido’s family, the Adelekes, at Chioma’s family house in Lekki, Lagos, where the traditional marriage took place on November 4, 2022.

The final marriage rites were to have been concluded in Chioma’s hometown in Imo State on January 3, 2023.

Davido has since updated his marital status on Wikipedia.

  1. David would've married her still, coz if he didn't, the son would not have borne the adeleke name. Her umunna wouldn't allow it.

    2. That boy would have still borne Adeleke even without the marriage.

    3. Ifeanyi had always been addressed as Ifeanyi Adeleke while he was alive, by the Press.

    4. The Nigeria Constitution is bigger than the ummuna/any tribal law, I hope you know that BB.

    5. Anne K which section of Nigeria's Constitution are you laying claims to?
A child born outside wedlock bears the mother's surname.

  2. I said it that without so he can't lay claim to the body of that boy. He has to pay the bride price or marry her anyway before he can call him his son. We do so aswell.

  3. May sweet Ifeanyi continue to rest peacefully. This culture is very much active in different parts of Nigeria. God be with this couple Chioma and David. I hope they are intentional and prayerful about making their marriage work. Looking forward to plenty of good news from them by God's grace.

    1. Amen!

And we women should stop submitting ourselves for this kind of treatment.

In short, pre marital sex should be stopped and coupling before marriage.

If you want to know your partner, platonic friendship, godly courtship or family investigation should do.

    6. 12:09
He has announced before and didn't marry her.. Then the Perruzzi wahala came.
He may not have married her.

    7. 12:09 so now that he has married her, what then? Speculations everywhere.
Of course, the putting sex before marriage and having children out of wedlock is morally wrong, they finally did the right thing.

Stop wishing he didn't marry her.

These two lost a child and are still mourning.
      LET THEM BREATHE!

(Bloggers should be more empathetic and stop dragging out the news of baby Ifeanyi's untimely death. The parents and both families' emotions are still grieving his passing).

  5. Until you pay a woman's bride price in my place. Even if the woman has 20 sons for you. They are not yours.

  6. That was my fear when I got my Igbo girl pregnant. Even though I was not buoyant I sold some things to save myself from shame of doing what I shall still have to do.
After the traditional rites …come see blessings oh ! Without a steady income I have landed properties and even taken my family on trips round the world and marriage never do 5 yes sef .
Una go see Davido shine like never before …you think he was a superstar before abi ? With what he has done even Jay Z level go be small boy level by the time David is done . The Igbos are truly the Jews of these part of the world . No wonder bride price / Umunamu is expensive

  9. This igbo culture is a good thing, it provides a measure of security for a woman and her children. You can't come and claim children when you're not married to their mother. That is how Judy got her desire to marry Yul, he married her so he can claim his son.

It's also applicable for bride price i.e. a man can't collect bride price for his daughter if he didn't marry her mother.

    1. And in this generation, how many of them told u they are interested in claiming the child? Legally, child is theirs regardless of any culture, and he still has the woman where he wants her. So there is nothing beautiful about the culutre. Discourage having kids outside wedlock simple. See Anna Banner nw, does flavor look like he is interested in taking the child? And there is nothing the elders of her village can do, that girl must still bear flavor’s name in sch and all her legal docs.

    2. Is Anna Banner igbo? I don't know if her culture is the same. But if it is, Flavour cannot collect brideprice for his daughter as he isn't married to her mum

    3. Nothing like "legally" when it comes to culture o! If David from a family as powerful as the Adelekes had to marry Chioma in order to bury his own son, who the rest of men be?

One of my relative's biological father wasn't given any as brideprice because he didn't marry her mother. He was treated like every other invited guest during the ceremony.

    3. Some people talk out of their a** sometimes. You see a tradition that helps the woman and you open your mouth wide to say ‘Na wa’. Perhaps a tradition that keeps women as Baby-mamas indefinitely will be better for you

  11. The traditional marriage rite is what gives a man a right and claim of fatherhood over a child, if that is not done over the woman sorry to the man you are just a sperm donor

    ReplyDelete
  12. I know my people will not allow him claim the boy to himself since he didn't pay her bride price from day one. Thank God that they are now husband and wife.

  13. No wonder they divorce quickly after such by force marriage. The man will marry her, claim his child and divorce her later

    1. Are you speaking the desires of your heart? It's not only Imo people that divorce na. The circumstances are not ideal but at least, something good came out of it. I'm not even a fan but just wish them well and move on.

  15. So sad how this relationship has evolved. I don’t know or particularly care too much about either of them, but they are the same age as my younger brother and he even went to school with David so I almost feel like ‘if it were him’…this is has been built on waaay too much heartache and negative energy. Fingers are crossed anyway, cos everyone deserves their happiness.

  16. I don't think he would have married her this quick if not for the circumstances involved. I think he would have birthed more kids with her before even talking of marriage.

  17. Folks should watch themselves and their ugly words. Who is to say having such a tragic event in their young lives did not change them. None of us know the state of their hearts and what they value. These are two very young ppl pushed into a very tragic experience. Only they know their pain, let them find whatever joy they can find in their grief. At the end of it all this is their journey and their story. Picture perfect does not always lead to glory, maybe their less than picture perfect will lead to glory. Some of you are too old to be slinging shit on these young ppl trying to figure out themselves.

  19. This picture was when their joy was complete and she was wearing his ring before their relationship had temporary set back so they have always been intent on marrying each other and has reaffirmed their intention after finding their way back to each other. They didn’t reconnect because of their loss, that would have been more bizarre. I don’t care what anyone says but this two loved each other whatever type of love you chose to call it. Yes I would take a man that would love me so openly and so intoxicating that put smile on strangers face. I will like to have me my own Davido minus the cheating part. He loves boldly without remorse. May God heal them completely and bless them with more children who will be with them till old age.
